For those who are in other countries and don't know what America is actually celebrating : In 1620 the pilgrims went on a voyage for religious freedom. The voyage was perilous but they held on to their faith. They prayed for safety, and God delivered them from the dangers of the seas. The pilgrims settled on Plymouth rock. The first winter was rough, and many lives were taken. Most of the adults were sick and some were dying ; henceforth it was up to the children to take up the daily chores. Building houses, hunting, gathering, washing the clothes it was so sudden. Eventually, spring came. An native American named Samoset introduced himself to the settlers. Surprisingly he spoke English. He told them that he learned this language from fishermen and fur traders. Then he introduced them to Squanto and he he knew English well because he was captured by English men, lived with monks for a little while, and got a master who set him free. He told them how to plant corn or how he called it maze. He told him that when the maple trees leaves are as big as a mouse's ear, then the corn is ready to be harvested. At the time of harvest the pilgrims and the native Americans had a feast and giving praises to God.
