forty nine
Soul was at home strumming her guitar when she got the text about meeting at Gina's for an emergency cast meeting for the cast list reveal.
But when Soul got there the front door was locked which confused the girl.
So she pulled out the spare key Gina gave her, unlocking the door before she made her way up to Gina's room.
"Hey, guys!" Soul greeted the group that was there. "Where's Gina?'
"She's not here yet." Carlos said, causing the girl to raise her eyebrow.
"Yet, you're having a meeting in her bedroom." Soul sarcastically said, causing him and Ashlyn to nod. "How did you even get in? The front door was locked."
"The garage." Ashlyn said, causing Soul to slowly nod. "How'd you get in?"
"I have a key to the front door." Soul said, showing them the key with a big G on it.
"Right." Ashlyn trailed off sharing a look with Carlos.
"Oh, look who decided to arrive." Carlos said, quickly changing the topic as Gina made her way up the stairs.
"I'm sorry, welcome to my bedroom." Gina sarcastically said, making her toward her bed. "How did you guys even get in?"
"The garage code is your mom's birthday. You can find it on her LinkedIn page." Emmy blurted out, causing Soul and Gina to give the young girl a look.
"Oh, you are scary good." Soul admits, nodding slowly.
"Everyone, sit." Carlos said, ushering everyone toward the couches. "Everyone, breathe. Today was big. We rehearsed for a Hollywood movie. But in my humble opinion the following is even bigger."
"Am I too late?" Ricky exclaimed, rushing up the stairs.
"For Ricky Bowen you're right on time." Carlos said, un-phased by the boy's lateness, causing the Bowen boy to take the open seat beside Soul. "Sharpay will be played by Kourtney Greene. Ryan will be played by moi."
"Dream team!" Kourtney exclaimed, pointing at the boy.
"Martha Cox will be played by... Ashlyn Moon Caswell." Carlos said, pointing at the girl causing the group to cheer. "Kelsi will be played by none other than Ms. Souline Walker."
"It's an honor once again." Soul said, grinning from ear to ear, waving at the group.
"Taylor will be played by the famous, controversial Hollywood exile known only as Emmy." Carlos announced, causing the group to cheer for the young girl. "Here we go. Troy will be played by, not shockingly, Featured Extra Number Two, aka Richard Bowen."
Gina let out a loud shriek as the group clapped.
"Let's go, seniors! Yes!" Ricky stood up cheering.
"And now the moment we've all been waiting for, Gabriella." Carlos said, looking directly at Gina.
"Oh my gosh, is it me?" Gina blurted out.
"Let me have my moment." Carlos said, making the room go silent with anticipation. "It's you."
The group cheered as the girl curtsied before everyone broke off.
"It looks like we were the only ones who survived Miss Jenn's recast." Soul jokingly said, looking over at the boy beside her.
"Mm-hmm." Ricky hummed, keeping his eyes locked on Gina as he listened in on her conversation with Kourtney and Ashlyn.
"Come on." Kourtney said. "You've had that Mac cut-out in your closet since you were 10. You owe it to 10-year-old Gina to at least try."
"Hey, don't worry." Soul said, touching the boy's shoulder, causing him to quickly look over at her. "I can assure you there's nothing going on with her and that walking Ken doll, okay. She's crazy for you Richard, remember that."
"Yeah, you're right." Ricky nodded, sending the girl a small smile. "Thanks."
"Wait, is that the entire cast?" Ashlyn asked, causing the group to turn and look at Carlos.
"Well, I am personally lobbying for Miss Jenn to play Miss Darbus." Carlos spoke, looking over the list. "And yeah, that's it."
"Wait, what about the other basketball players? You know, Chad, Zeke, Jason?" Soul questioned.
"Right, my boyfriend?" Emmy said, quickly standing up from her seat.
"Chad is not cast yet." Carlos informed the group.
"I'm sorry. How do we not have enough people to fill out an HSM3 cast?" Gina questioned.
"The movie sucked up all other potential drama kids." Carlos shrugged his shoulders. "They're getting 100 bucks a week, plus all the kettle corn they can eat. We can't compete with that."
"You guys, Dani just posted something really cryptic on Instagram." Kourtney announced, looking down at her phone. "It reads, 'Hollywood is brutal, Stay grounded out there, babes.' Mack comments 'Shit's messed up.' Ooh, what kind of tea they got going on there?"
"Wait, guys, what's 310? Like what area code is that?" Gina questioned, looking down at her phone.
"California or West California to be specific." Soul spoke.
"That's Hollywood, baby!" Carlos exclaimed, causing the group to quickly stand up as they circled around Gina.
"Look, if you're fired from the movie, you're still Gabriella." Ricky comforted the girl.
"Hello." Gina nervously answered the phone.
"Gina Porter." Quinn's voice rang through the phone. "Hi. It's Quinn the director. Sundance runner-up for Where Has All The Money Gone?"
"I'm so sorry." Gina apologized. "I just, like. I know I messed up earlier today but I promise it won't happen again."
"Listen, that is the exact thing that I need. I spoke with your drama teacher today and she said that you have the range, talent and ambition to really make a mark. And not just in the background. "
"What are you saying?"
"What I'm saying is, how would you like to replace Dani in High School Musical 4?"

After all the exciting news the gang split up and went their separate ways.
"Mom, I'm home!" Soul called out, stepping into the house.
"She's not home." Sully spoke from the living room, causing the girl to follow his voice to find only him, Carter, and Zak. "She went to get pizza."
"Where's the rest of the group?" Soul asked, noticing their sad demeanors.
"They're working on HSM4." Carter explained, causing the girl to nod as she took a seat beside Zak.
"Yeah, that movie is taking everything and everyone." Soul said, letting out a sigh. "Can you believe we don't have enough people to fill our cast for HSM3."
"Because of the movie?" Sully questioned, causing the girl to nod.
"Yeah, we don't even have enough bodies for the main cast?" Soul sighed.
"Is it too late to sign up?" Zak asked, causing the girl to shake her head.
"Of course not. Are you thinking about joining?" Soul asked, causing the boy to shrug.
"I mean, maybe."
"It could be a good way to pass time until the movie wraps." Carter spoke. "I don't know about you guys but sitting around isn't really how I want to spend my semester if it's just gonna be the three of us."
"He;'s right." Sully shrugged his shoulders. "Are you still in need of backstage help?"
"Definitely."
"I'm down, if your down." Carter said, looking over at Zak.
"Why not. Let's do it." Zak said, causing a smile to grow on the girl's face.
"You guys are literal angels." Soul said, smiling at them as her phone began ringing, causing her to look at it before answering. "Richard Bowen. How can I help you?"
"So I just came up with this wild idea for Chad and wanted to run it past you before going into my living room and talking to Miss Jenn." Ricky said, causing the girl to smile.
"I'm listening."
