fifty seven
Guess now it's official
Can't back out, can't back out, no
Getting ready for the night of nights
The night of nights, alright
Don't panic
Panic
Now do we have to dress up for the prom
Dude, I don't think we have a choice
Yeah it's the night of all nights
Gotta look just right
Dressing to impress the boys
Do I want classic, or vintage, or plaid
Where's the mirror
I think this tux is too baggy, too tight
It makes me look weird
Should I go movie star glamorous
Sassy or sweet?
Don't know, but no one better wear the same dress as me
It's the night of our nightmares
It's the night of our dreams
It's too late to back out of it
Hey, makeovers, massages
Don't know what a corsage is
Been waiting all our lives for this
It's gonna be a night (can't wait)
To remember (oh, man)
Come on now, big fun (alright)
It's gonna be the night
To last forever
We'll never, ever, ever, forget
"Hey, you've been in there an hour, man!"
So, what should I do with my hair?
Where's my shaver?
Oh, I love it
I look like a waiter
Should I fluffy it?
It's getting later, already should be there
Big fun, on the night of nights (alright)
The night of nights, tonight
Let's dance
On the night of nights
You know we're gonna do it right
It's gonna be our night (you know it)
To remember (for all time)
Come on now, big fun (to remember)
It's gonna be the night (love it)
To last forever (the rest of our lives)
We'll never, ever, ever, forget
It's gonna be our night (oh yeah)
All together (say it loud)
Come on now, everyone (that's right)
It's gonna be a night (here tonight)
To remember (hear the crowd)
And never, ever, ever, never, ever, ever
Never, ever, never, ever, ever, forget
Soul noticed Seb making his way onto the floor, causing her to take a step away from Carlos as he pulled the boy into a kiss right there in the middle of the floor.
"This means we're a thing." Seb exclaimed, causing the audience to cheer as Soul chuckled as the couple quickly kissed again.
"This is your 15-minute intermission."
"You are killing it out there Miss Gabriella." Soul grinned, looping arms with Gina as they made their way to the side stage, causing her to giggle.
"Thank you. You are amazing as well, Miss Kelsi." Gina complimented.
"Gina, they need you for a quick sound check for the press conference in the auditorium." Miss Jenn rushed towards the duo. "They just told me."
"But it's intermission. I'm supposed to meet up with-" Gina started but was cut off.
"Honey, I'm sorry. Hollywood waits for nobody." Miss Jenn shook her head, grabbing the girl's hand pulling her away.
"Can you please meet Ricky in the dressing room and tell him I'm sorry." Gina whispered to Soul, causing her to nod, sending her a small smile as she was pulled away by the drama teacher.
Soul turned quickly making her way towards the dressing room where she found the curly haired boy standing there with his back to her as he talked to himself.
"This is not just puppy love. Gina, I love you." Ricky whispered to himself, causing a smile to grow on the girl's face.
"This room makes you confess a lot doesn't it." Soul teased, causing the boy to quickly turn around. "Is it the lights?"
"Soul, hey. Uh, where's G?" Ricky asked, chuckling lightly.
"Quinn needed her for a few minutes." A new voice filled the room as Terri Porter appeared behind Soul.
"Quinn? For what?" Ricky asked, confused.
"Oh. you don't know, do you? Gina received an offer to star in a big movie adaptation of Romeo and Juliet." Terri revealed, causing Soul to squeeze her eyes shut. "She's flying overseas tonight for a very long time... with her co-star, Mack. I really am sorry, Ricky."
Terri gave both teens one last glance before she turned, making her way out of the room.
"Ricky." Soul softly spoke, stepping towards the boy, causing him to quickly snap his attention towards her. "She was going to tell you."
"When?" Ricky snapped, letting out a scoff. "After she got on the plane with Mack to another country!"
"She was gonna tell you before the musical started but things came up and it was to late. So she was gonna come here and tell you right now but she was pulled away before she got the chance." Soul explained, smoothing out her dress as she took a seat on the couch as Ricky slowly followed her lead. "She's really sorry, so please don't be mad at her, okay. She was just scared of how you were going to react when she told you that she has to go... She cares so much about you Ricky and didn't want to lose you."
"She isn't going to lose me!" Ricky raised his voice before letting out a sigh. "I just wish she would have told me sooner. I would have supported her, no questions asked."
"I know that." Soul nodded her head, sending the boy a small smile as she squeezed his hand in support. "But does Gina know that? I mean that girl is literally head over heels for you and loves you so much. She'd do anything not to break your heart."
"She loves me?" Ricky asked with hope in his eyes.
"Talk to Gina, Ricky." Soul chuckled lightly, sending the boy a small smile, causing the boy to nod.
The room went silent.
"Thank you." Ricky softly spoke, causing the girl to glance over at him. "You know for being here for me and for G, but especially for me. I mean it's been 13 years and you have not giving up on me even when I gave up on our friendship and I'm really sorry about that and for making things weird."
"Ricky—" Soul let out a sigh, shaking her head.
"Please just let me say something." Ricky spoke, causing the girl to nod. "For the last 13 years, you have literally been like the only consistent thing in my entire life. Even though we had a rough time and weren't speaking for a while, Big Red told me that you still asked about me all the time just to see how I was doing even though you should have honestly forgotten about me but I'm so glad you didn't. I mean I moved out of my childhood home, my parents got separated, Nini up and left, Big Red has been MIA to god knows where... I guess what I'm trying to say is, you are literally my best friend, Soul. You have always been and will forever be my best friend. So I mean this in the most brother-sister type of way and I'm just putting that out there so EJ won't kill me." Ricky said, causing the girl to chuckle. "I Love You. Thank you for being here."
"Aw, I love you too, in the brother-sister type of way." Soul teased, causing the boy to light chuckle before the girl pulled him into a much needed hug before slowly pulling away. "I'm also sorry for my role with everything that happened between us. Now that I've had time to look back and think about everything... I realized I never really had feelings for you in that way. I mean, I didn't know what I was feelings at the time because I had never felt anything for anyone before and I guess you were just there. I mean yeah, I loved you, you were my best friend, but was I in love with you? No. I think it was just knowing that I could lose my dad at any moment, I got so scared and so I just latched onto to the closest person i had; that person being you. I think i just liked the idea of you and because you were there for me, when I was going through a rough time. I mean at home, everybody was sad all the time, even though we never admitted it and I was just relieved I could just pretend like everything was fine even if it was only for a few hours. Then my dad got worst and I pulled away and I put the blame on you and Nini for everything because it was easier to blame someone else, even though I had a major role in it all. I still lost everything and I was able to cope with it for a while and then my mom brought Jeff into our lives... And I always thought it was karma because I was to content with losing everything... Then I met EJ, everything felt so-so different with him, it just felt right. That's when I realized what it felt like to have a crush on someone and what I was feeling towards you wasn't as strong... I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm so for taking everything out on you when you were just trying to mend our friendship. I'm so sorry."
"Hey, it's okay." Ricky softly spoke, rubbing the girls back. "I don't blame you at all. I mean, I was the horrible friend, how did I not know you dad was sick... Why didn't you just tell me, I could have been there for you."
"Because if I had said it out loud it would have made it real and I wasn't ready to accept the fact that I was gonna lose my dad."
The room went silent again as Soul let her head drop, letting out a deep sigh.
"I'm willing to forget and move past it all if you are." Ricky spoke, causing the girl to turn her towards the boy. "What do you say friends?"
"I thought we were already technically friends again." Soul lightly chuckled.
"Well, yeah but I mean like actual friends who can hang out together with out it being awkward after 20 minutes alone. You know like old times." Ricky spoke, causing the girl to nod. "Best Friends."
"Okay, Bowen." Soul nodded, smiling lightly at the boy. "Best Friends it is. But don't get your feelings hurt if one day I choose your girlfriend over you."
"I wouldn't expect anything less." Ricky said, causing them both to chuckle as they smiled.
...
"You're doing great. Coach Bolton only has three more scenes." Ashlyn explained to the boy in the chair as Soul watched in amusement. "and I truly believe you can make up half the lines, on the spot.
"Bro bear, Ricky, places for The Boys Are Back." Maddox called for Jet and Ricky.
"Can we really start Act 2 without Gabriella?" Ricky questioned, looking around for Gina.
"I still know all her lines." Dani spoke up, causing both Ricky and Soul to give a side eye.
"I'm here, everybody! Hi, I'm here."
Ricky and Gina silently went into their own conversation as Soul turned her attention back to Ashlyn.
"Okay, let me see my number one nemesis." Miss Jenn entered, making her way to the group. "Coach Bolton."
EJ turned around in his chair, revealing the work Ashlyn did to make him look older.
"It's now or never. Take two." EJ spoke, causing everyone to applaud as he sent Soul a nervous smile.
'You look great, honey." Soul reassured the boy with a smile.
...
Soul stood off on the side stage as she watched Ricky and EJ race onto the stage.
"How's that big show goin'?" Coach Bolton questioned.
"You don't wanna know." Troy spoke.
"When were you gonna tell me about this?" EJ pulled out a Juilliard brochure from his pocket."Juilliard?"
"There's nothing to tell."
"Maybe there is. Heard you were talking to other schools. I mean, is this serious?"
"U of A isn't the only school that talked to me, Dad. you know this."
"But it's the only school we talked about. Chad would be disappointed if you decided to change your mind."
"No, Chad would get over it. Would you?"
Soul felt someone bump her shoulder, causing her to look over to find Gina standing there watching the duo on the floor.
"...Not you, not Chad, not anybody else. Me." Troy snapped, pushing the ball into EJ's chest as he made his way up the stairs, stopping as his eyes set on Gina.
Soul bumped the girl's shoulder, causing her to quickly look at her, making Soul nod to the boy.
The couple locked eyes for a few seconds before he made his way all the way up the stairs as he began singing Scream.
Soul felt bad for the boy because she could tell he was putting his heart and soul into the song.
"I'm gonna go change." Gina spoke, causing Soul to nod before Gina quickly walked away.
So bad I'm gonna scream
Oh!
Ahh!
....
"So walk, walk, walk. Jump in." Ryan spoke as he showed Troy the moves to 'just wanna be with you'." Around the world and spin out. See? You got it."
"You're easier to dance with than her." Troy whispered to the boy, causing the audience to laugh.
"Okay, my turn." Sharpay said, pushing the two boys apart.
"Here we go, from the top!" Ryan called. "Walk, walk, walk. Jum down. Around the world."
"Heads up!"
A small house fell over in the background, causing Sharpay to let out a scream as she clinched onto Troy.
"All right, everyone. Let's just take five, all right? Take five." Ms. Darbus spoke, causing everyone but Ricky to make their way back.
"Hoops man. Over here." Kelsi whistled, causing the boy to lean on the railing as he looked over at the girl as she stood up from the piano. "You look like you're having the time of your life."
"I'm messing up the dances. I'm messing up all the songs. I'm sorry."
"It's all of us. And all of us pretty much know why. If it wasn't for Gabriella, this musical would have just been another Sharpay show." Kelsi said, causing the boy to nod as she sent him a small smile. "It'll be fine."
"Yeah."
...
It was finally time for the curtain call.
Here we go! (Woo!)
C'mon!
Alright
Little louder, now
Hey! (Woo!)
Lookin' forward from center stage to graduation day
Time to get the future started
What we leave, what we take with us, no matter what
It's something we're part of
We learned to fly
Together, side by side
I just hope the rest of my life
Will feel as good as my...
High school musical
Who says we have to let it go?
It's the best part we've ever known
Step into the future
But hold on to high school musical
Let's celebrate where we come from
The friends who've been there all along, just like
Soul smiled as she made her way down the stairs with Ashlyn, Kourtney and Carlos.
Now we finally realize
Who we are, it just took some time
We had to live and to learn to see the truth (Learn to see the truth)
That nothing's ever impossible
Soul stepped forward as she sent the crowd a kiss before quickly bowing before holding her hands out, causing Carlos and Kourtney to grab them as the four did a quick bow together.
Into the future, we all free-fall
EJ and Miss Jenn quickly made their way onto the stage before quickly taking a bow before grabbing the four teens hands as they all took a bow together before quickly making a path for Ricky
But forever, we'll always have high school
high school musical (Musical)
Let's celebrate where we come from (Celebrate)
The friends who've been there all along, oh, yeah
I wish my life could be like a...
High school musical
Let's celebrate where we come from
All together makes it better
Memories that last forever
I want the rest of my life to feel just like a
High school musical
Soul gripped onto Gina and Kourtney hands as the group who was there since the beginning made their way to the front, smiling at the audience before quickly jumping in the air, making a pose.
The audience quickly stood to their feet as they cheered the group on.
Gina and Soul quickly turned to each other with giant smiles as they pulled each other into a tight hug because they knew things were gonna change once they left that gym.
"Go kill it." Soul smiled, causing Gina to grin as she pulled her into another hug before turning to her other side, coming face to face with Ricky.
"Soul!" Kourtney squealed, holding her arms open as she pulled the girl into a big hug as they both smiled from ear to ear.
The rest of the cast and the dancers quickly rushed to the front towards the six as they all cheered.
"These children do not know how much we worry about them." Michelle spoke, leaning towards Stella Walker and Lynne Bowen as the three mothers had proud looks on their faces.
"They really don't." Stella agreed, causing Lynne to nod.
"But it's definitely worth it." Lynne said, causing the three women to chuckle.
"Most of the time it's worth it." Mike Bowen jokes.
"I just love these kids so much." Dewey Wood cried in the front row. "Gadget!"
Soul pulled Ashlyn and Carlos into tight hugs when she noticed Gina quickly rushing out, leaving Ricky alone.
Soul made her way to the boy, touching his arm as, causing him to break his attention away from the door as she sent him a supportive smile.
"It'll be fine." Soul reassured the boy, causing him to smile light as he nodded.
"Yeah."
Soul held her arms open, causing the boy to chuckle before pulling her into a hug.
