"Eliza? Eliza, wake up" Alex nudged her awake

"Hm?" Eliza asked in a groggy voice

"I made you a light breakfast. C'mon" Alex said as Eliza started to get up

"Alex, I'm not hungryyyyyy" Eliza wined

"Please Eliza, we talked about this. Its light and a little bit. Just try. Ok? I believe in you!" he said, making Eliza laugh at the end.

"Fine..." she said. 

Eliza had been diagnosed about a month ago. She hadn't eaten a full meal in months, though.

About an hour passed as she ate her food, having to stop sometimes to digest. She reached for more food, and her fork scraped against the plate. She looked down, and realized there was not a scrap left on her plate. 

She gasped loud. Then Alex came running in.

"ELIZA?!" he shouted

"Alex. Look!" she whispered. Alex looked at her plate, and back at her, smiling.

"Eliza... you..." Alex started 

"I... I did it!!!" Eliza finished, and squealed. Alex ran to her and picked her up in his arms, spinning her as they laughed. Pippa came running in and jumped around her parents, not knowing why  they were so happy, just happy that they were. 

"Mommy's amazing, right Pippa!" Alex asked the excited girl

"Yeah Daddy!" she yelled back, smiling 

Eliza stopped in her tracks. "D-Daddy?" she asked

"Oh, yeah" Alex said nervously, rubbing the back of his neck. "Yeah... the night you were in the hospital, she called me daddy, and I guess it stuck".

"Wow!" Eliza said

"Mommy! Daddy! Can we all be a nice big family?!" Pippa asked

"Of course" Eliza said, and hugged her two favorite people.

"I think, today... today was one of the best days of my life" Eliza concluded as she stepped back from the hug

"Yeah... me too Alex agreed, and kissed her cheek.

What a happy, complete family. They had waited so long for that. Who knew itwould end so soon?
