EVERY CHILD KNOWS THE LEGEND of Robin Hood. How he stole from the rich to give to the poor and how he pissed off a rather nasty Sheriff of Nottingham who wanted it all, including for Robin's love to be his bride. And so the tale of the brave archer was told and over time people began to ponder whether or not the hero really existed. To the modern world he was nothing more than a bedtime story, a lesson to be learnt. Every child remembers cheering when Robin vanquished the tyrannical Sheriff to save the love of his life, before ending the tale in 'They both lived  Happily Ever After'.

But that was a lie.

Robin and Marion did indeed love each other with all their hearts and they were happy as we already know, but their ending was not so joyous. For Robin Hood — thief, hero and legend — was slain by a man still loyal to the Sheriff's cause and that was the end of the selfless hero.

Or so he and everyone else thought.

Fast forward to 2023 when The Avengers and co attempted their second chance against Thanos, the Mad Titan. It had been five years since their defeat and the dusting of half the entire Universe, but the heroes did what all heroes do, they never gave up. In the end, it worked and the dead were returned. But like all things, it came with a price.

The last thing Robin remembered was a shooting pain in his abdomen and then.... darkness. Endless darkness. He couldn't breathe. He couldn't think. He couldn't see. Despite the beliefs he was raised upon, there was nothing beyond the world of the living. Nothing at all. He would scream. He would cry. He would beg for it all to be over, to be free from his cage. And as if the Universe could hear him, his prayers were answered.

With the return of the fallen came Robin of Locksley, riding the wave of resurrection into a new age. It was certainly an age he didn't understand with moving pictures on flat pieces of metal and buildings so high he could barely see the top. The world around him was beyond different and he had no clue why.

Well, that was until a kind woman named Melissa Gordon found him whilst trying to calm down and aid the returned. She took him in and listened to frantic cries of confusion; she gave him new clothes that weren't covered in blood or looked like he got them from a Medieval fair and she explained to him the events of the past centuries.

Later on, after nagging him about it for weeks on end, Robin finally went to a thing called 'therapy'. He had to admit, he enjoyed it. Confessing all what was on his mind made him feel freer and lighter. He talked about his wife, Marion, his Merry Men and the life he had once lived back in Sherwood Forest. In Dr Madani's professional opinion, Robin of Locksley aka John Robertson was not crazy despite what others may say, but she still had trouble believing what he was telling her. Over the years she had heard some strange things but it was never like this, not even with another patient who happened to be the enhanced and 100 year old man known as The Winter Soldier.

And just like Robin, he was out of his time but had the fortune to only have to catch up on a few decades instead of the centuries the famed archer missed. Two men dangling outside the whirlwind of time were bound to bump into each other eventually, and where else but the therapist office they both went to.

Bucky Barnes went through Hell and survived; he had seen horrors beyond your imagination and witnessed the strangest of things that no one would believe. So accepting that a legend from the 12th century somehow came back to life, was a piece of cake. He loved hearing Robin's stories of his times in Sherwood Forest as Bucky remembered being told them as a child when he was curled up in bed, afraid of the nightmares which might come to haunt him. The tales of Robin Hood has inspired many and Bucky made sure to tell him so.

When Captain America's shield is handed over to his replacement (Bucky filled Robin in on the hero stuff) and the one armed soldier gets a call from a friend, Robin Hood joins them on their quest to take down the infamous Flag Smashers, not expecting that him, The Glitch in The Blip, to fall for a super soldier who's just as lost as he is.

12th Century: Robin Hood was a soldier turned hero who fought for the people. He's the Robin Hood you know from the legends and stories.

Modern Day: After his return, Robin soon meets someone who takes him in and tries to help. He manages to get his hands on a bow and arrow set which makes him feel connected to his life back in the 12th Century. When he joins Sam and Bucky, he uses his incredible fighting and archery skills. Robin in the 21st Century is frightened and confused, he barely understands the world he has come back to. Technology is definitely a challenge for him but his friend Melissa helps him.

notes:

• Basically, when Tony snapped his fingers and brought everyone back, for some reason, Robin Hood also came back. He's 'The Glitch' and it's hard for him considering he missed almost a millennia worth of history.

• Considering he's from the 12th Century, he did not get turned to dust by Thanos' snap, but instead was killed. This just adds to everyone's confusion as he was DEAD dead, not just dusted. Also, Robin has a scar from where he was stabbed and killed, it's a constant reminder of his past.

• Robin is a closeted Bisexual (with a woman preference).

• After he returned, Robin was found by a kind woman called Melissa Gordon who took him in. (You can decide her faceclaim). She doesn't truly believe he's Robin Hood, but she tries her best to support him and helped to get him a new ID (John Robertson). Melissa also suggested Robin to go to therapy - which he has no clue about considering when he's from - and he ends up with the same therapist as Bucky and bumps into him a lot.

• Robin tells Bucky the truth about himself and Bucky believes him (weirder things have happened than a supposed myth coming back from the dead).

• Robin does not judge Bucky for this past as he has one of his own (he fought in the Crusades). And he tries to help Bucky with his book and forgiving himself.

• Bucky tries to help Robin as he is also out of time, they empathise with each other which later leads to their friendship becoming more.

• Maybe a prologue can be written about Robin's confusion when he returns.

• Before TFATWS, Bucky and Robin have met so it would be nice to see their interactions in a couple of chapters before the series.

ACT ONE
the falcon and the winter soldier

• Bucky brings Robin along to meet Sam and is then dragged into the Flag Smashers mess. Robin does not like John Walker (who can blame him). Robin and Bucky's relationship develops as they work together, they trust each other more and begin to develop feelings. Robin, although an outlaw, has a code of honour so he's not particularly fond of the idea of Zemo being free. Sam isn't sure whether or not to believe Robin's origin story, but he ends up accepting it. Robin is always there to help Sam and Bucky. You can decide when Robin and Bucky first kiss, but it is sometime during this act, probably around episode 4 onwards. At the end, Robin and Bucky are exploring the idea of a proper relationship together.

When the next show/movie Bucky is in comes out, it needs to be added to this timeline.
