CONCEALED IN THE HARSH ARTIC ice and crowned by flecks of pure white snow was the impregnable prison Nieva Isolde had devised. Her unwilling prisoner was none other than the Decepticon Leader Megatron, who had crash landed on planet Earth after his cowardly retreat from the ongoing war — a war he was losing. Optimus Prime, Leader of the Autobots, entrusted Nieva with the task of finding and containing their foe. She did just that.

But they never told her how long the evil tin can needed to be kept submerged under the ice for; so Nieva waited... and waited... and waited. Days merged into weeks, weeks into months, months into years and so on. She spent every moment of that millennia awake, watching Megatron with a trained eye in case of any sudden movements. But he never made any for Nieva cast a new layer of protective ice over the prisoner every day, making it certain that it would never melt nor crack.

Nieva was certain that she would forever remain by the side of their greatest enemy. She was wrong.

A Captain stumbled into the seemingly impenetrable prison she had created, startling the guard who had not been in contact with anyone for so long. Her existence confused him, for how could someone stay hidden beneath layers of ice — alive — without food, warmth or any means of escape. Then it occurred to Archibald Witwicky that maybe the Woman of Ice was not human, just like the large metal man he had found her watching over. And even though she was certainly not like any person he had ever met, Archibald Witwicky offered her a chance; a chance to leave the icy prison of her own making, behind.

Nieva took the selfish option and left with Captain Witwicky and his crew (they were definitely puzzled by the woman's sudden appearance on their boat, but quickly accepted it). She believed Megatron would be safe hidden away in the frosty claws of the icy bars for at least a few decades so she could explore and be free before returning to her post. But when Nieva Isolde returned half a century later, she discovered that her prisoner was nowhere to be found. She had failed the Autobots. She had failed herself. And more importantly, she had failed the Universe.

There was no way of telling where Megatron had vanished to, but she knew that the lives he took from that moment on would be on her hands. But instead of moping around like a wounded puppy, Nieva decided to take up a cause. It reminded her of the day she was found in the ice by Captain Witwicky which was when she decided: Nieva Isolde was going to do whatever she could to protect and watch over the Witwicky family tree.

Years later she was led to South Gate, California, where the newest generation of the Witwicky line had settled down. It had been a strange couple of decades for Nieva: her name was Maeve Archibald after the man who offered her her first choice in centuries, she spent years undercover during the Cold War (don't ask) and she adopted a son. But enough about her, for the only person on her mind at the moment was Archibald Witwicky's great-whatever grandson, Sam.

And Nieva Isolde — or Aspen Edmonds as he knows her — would do anything to protect him even when he somehow manages to get his hands on an Autobot before being chased by Decepticons that serve the Leader she tried to bury. It's one big, catastrophic mess and it's partly, if not all, her fault.

Powers: Nieva has basic ice powers and she can also go between 'Ice form' and 'human form'. Her human form helps her hide and become a part of Earth life. And she uses her ice form for fighting, like how a superhero would wear a mask.

Nieva Isolde: Nieva Isolde doesn't know where she came from. She's from across the stars, from the depths of the universe. She has the power of ice which she uses to help the Autobots in the war against the Decepticons. When Megatron went after the Allspark, she followed and guarded him. But after a millennia, she couldn't take it anymore so when Archibald Witwicky offered her a way out, she took it.

Maeva Archibald: She took the name Maeve Archibald when she started to become a part of Earth life. Maeve is an incredible fighter which is how she managed to get herself involved with World War 1 and 2 (she followed the Witwicky family there) where she fought. She also went undercover during the Cold War and during this time she adopted Kija. Maeve Archibald became a military legend, her existence just a whisper.

Aspen Edmonds: Maeve became Aspen who followed the Witwicky family to California. Kija is now a soldier in the army and Aspen is Sam Witwicky's history teacher. Sam knows her as Aspen and has no idea of the vow she made until she tries to help him.

notes:

• I was going to write this fic myself but now I've decided not to. In my version of 'Frozen' I had a few extra background characters for Kija and Nieva to interact with. If you want to add some, you can create whoever you want to, it's up to you.

• Kija is in the army and is in the same unit as Lennox, he then later becomes more involved with the military and their alliance with the Autobots until the relationship breaks. Kija remains on the Government's side to try and put stay one step ahead of the game and helps his Mother when she needs it.

ACT ONE
transformers

• Aspen is Sam's history teacher whilst Kija is away with Lennox and the team (it might be nice to write both sides). Aspen sees the Autbot signal and then later follows Sam, just in time to help him fight and escape the Decepticon, revealing her ice powers to him. Bumblebee recognises her and she recognises him. Aspen later explains everything to Sam and she's reunited with the Autobots and is a little annoyed. She's arrested with Sam and Mikela and is then reunited with her son (much to his team's surprise). Nieva breaks down at the sight of Megatron. They all then take down Megatron.

ACT TWO
transformers: revenge of the fallen

• Nieva becomes a teacher at Sam's college to keep an eye on him. In her spare time, she's with Kija and Optimus. When Optimus dies, she's heartbroken and is then even more determined to protect Sam. Nieva recognises the language but doesn't know what it is or what it means. Ice powers in the desert aren't a good mix so Nieva is obviously not thrilled about being there. Her powers only work for a limited time before they melt. She's so happy when Optimus returns.

ACT THREE
transformers: dark side of the moon

• Sam's all grown up so there's less need for her around so she helps the Autobots more and more. Nieva has a bad feeling about Sentinel Prime from the start. The only one who listens to her is Kija. They end up on the run and Nieva immediately goes to find and protect Sam. When they think the Autobots die, she's heartbroken, after all, she already has little left of her past. She then helps Sam get his girlfriend back and helps the team to destroy the pillars. At the end, Sentinel Prime is defeated.

ACT FOUR
transformers: age of extinction

• Nieva is on the run, searching for Optimus. She then finds him at Cade Yeager's but doesn't go in until they're attacked and protects him and his family. She explains who she is and they've heard of her, not believing she was real. All Nieva wants to do is protect the Autobots (they're all she has left after Sam died in an accident). She grows close to Cade as they fight side by side to defeat Megatron. She tries to distance herself but ends up falling for him anyway.

ACT FIVE
transformers: the last knight

• Nieva and Cade are in hiding together and are helping the Autobots. Kija is on the opposite team but he's still on her side. Both Nieva and Cade are taken to England where they know who and what she is so she turns to her natural 'ice form'. She is amazed that Sam is a descendant of Merlin and seeing his picture makes her and Bumblebee sad. She goes on the quest with Cade and Vivian and is amazed by what they find. Nieva then realises that Earth is Unicron and is frightened. At the end, they win and Nieva and Cade are safe once again.

• When the next Transformers film comes out, it needs to be added to this timeline.
