IN 1746, CASSANDRA LA FAY FACED A TRIAL AND THEN WAS SENTENCED TO DEATH AS A WITCH. But just before the flaming torch could touch the dry kindling, in swept a fellow sorcerer who rescued Cassandra from her fate. And it wasn't the first time. For that sorcerer — Balthazar Blake himself — had been pulling Cassandra from Death's grasp for a very long time.
Back in the time of old, there was a great and powerful wizard: Merlin. His name had passed into legend over the centuries, but once he was just as real as magic. He had three apprentices who he had bestowed the secrets of magic to: Balthazar, Horvath and Veronica. But they weren't his first students. Because decades before, Merlin had taught a bright young sorceress with an unparalleled gift. And her name was Cassandra La Fay.
Cassandra listened to Merlin's every word and every teaching. She focused herself dedicatedly upon her studies to become the great sorceress to ever lived. But then, she fell pregnant and the future changed forever.
Once Morgana was born, Cassandra was different. Her powers had been stripped from her and handed down to her infant child. And to add to it all, Merlin told her that she had somehow acquired immortality and would be stuck at almost sixteen for the rest of what would be a very long life. Yet despite this, Cassandra tried her best to be the mother Morgana needed. She loved her daughter, there was no denying it, which was why she was so confused and devastated when the now grown woman turned against her, Merlin and his apprentices.
How could Cassandra have not seen it coming? She had raised her child to try and see the best in people, to use her abilities to help rather than hurt. But it seemed Morgana had learnt the opposite to what Cassandra had tried to teach her. Merlin didn't want to hurt the woman he had seen grow up or inadvertently the friend who was her Mother. But Morgana had to be stopped.
Cassandra, no matter how much she hated it, knew Merlin was right. Her daughter had to be stopped.
And she was.
Veronica had sacrificed her own life to seal Morgana away in the grimhold; a Russian doll style prison in which they could never escape. But Cassandra's mind was still not at peace. She had helped lock away her own daughter and that was something she had to live with for the rest of her immortal life. So, the sorceress tried to make the best of the life she had been given.
Over the years, Cassandra saw everything, met everyone. She helped the people of the world with their advancements and with their daily lives. Even without her powers, she tried to do the right thing and help those around her. All the while Balthazar Blake was also travelling the world in search of Prime Merlinian, the great wizard's heir. So far, nothing, but the man hadn't given up hope.
And years later, in the antique shop that Balthazar now owned, the very sorcerer he had been searching for his entire life, found him. But of course, it couldn't be as simple as that. Horvath returned and both him and Balthazar ended up in an urn Cassandra couldn't free them from. So she had to watch out for young David as he grew, hoping that Balthazar would return soon so they could stop Horvath from his attempt to bring back Cassandra's daughter.
Because if Morgana La Fay walked the Earth once more, she would bring it to its end.

the long life of cassandra la fay
• Cassandra had always been a powerful sorceress, ever since she was a child. She was trained by Merlin before he had his apprentices. She was one of the most talented students he had ever had.
• Then Cassandra grew a crush on a stable boy and one thing led to another and she was pregnant with his child. The boy instantly ran away as he didn't want to be a Father and Cassandra had Morgana on her own. Then hasn't aged a day since. The price she paid for her powers.
• After Merlin's death and the imprisonment of her daughter, Cassandra goes off on her own. Sometimes Balthazar has to come and rescue her when she can't get out of it herself because she no longer has her powers.
• Cassandra has travelled the world, met famous people from across history. She tried to make her immortal life worth something like Balthazar as he was searching for the next bearer of Merlin's ring.

notes:
• So Cassandra is Morgana La Fay's Mother. She gave birth to her daughter when she was 15, almost 16, and has remained ageless ever since. But when she was born, Morgana took most of Cassandra's powers for herself. Of course Cassandra wouldn't have minded at all if her daughter was using them to do good, but she wasn't.
• Cassandra doesn't know what she did wrong with Morgana because she loved her and tried her best. So Cassandra sides with Merlin and Balthazar to try and stop her. Then Balthazar remains her friend for all those years.
• Balthazar has known Cassandra a long time, she's even older than him. But still, considering the fact that she still looks young, he feels quite protective of her. Sometimes, to keep their cover, she is called his daughter.
• Balthazar always calls her 'Cassandra' but I definitely think David would call her 'Cassie' and somehow this immortal sorceress would put up with it.
ACT ONE
• Cassandra is currently living with Balthazar in the shop when David comes in. She DOESN'T get trapped in the urn but considering she looks like a child, she can't legally run the shop so she goes into hiding and keeps an eye on David. David is shocked when he sees her again because she looks the exact same. Cassandra is not looking forward to defeating her daughter. Horvath knows of Cassandra's true power but he tries to use her as a pawn. At the end, when Morgana is defeated, Cassandra's power is returned to her.
• A post-sorcerer's apprentice act would be nice. Maybe a new evil, or an old one. Basically, lets get Cassandra to finally use her full abilities again.
