THE UNDERWATER WORLD OF ATLANTIS liked to laugh at the failures of the surface. Since before anyone could remember, the Atlanteans had been there, watching over the Earth as the people on it made the same mistakes over and over again. But they did nothing to help and just stood by as millions died from unnecessary Wars and of diseases they had the cures to. Despite what the surface dwellers, who had knowledge of Atlantis, believed, their negligence wasn't out of spite, it was out of fear.

Before they fled to the depths of the Oceans, they lived amongst the people of the surface and befriended the other supernatural creatures that hid in the shadows of man. 'The Golden Age' that was what they called it, but like all good things, it had to come to an end. Hunters discovered what the Atlanteans were and what they were capable of, so they killed as many as they could, calling it 'self defence' when in reality the poor, innocent people had done nothing but breathe the surface air.

So, in order for their kind to survive, the Atlanteans swam to the bottom of the sea where they built their new home: Atlantis.

Maris Nightingale had been taught from a young age that the surface was a dangerous and vicious place, a place in which if she ever set foot on, she would be dead within minutes. But she never believed it. To her, the land above was mysterious and wonderful, an adventure she was determined to have. So, when she felt the echo of pain in water from the land above, she jumped at the chance to check it out. But what she was greeted with made her believe all the stories were true.

A man, who she would later learn to be known as Gerard Argent, was drowning a boy in the river. The quarrels of man were not her problem, but when she spotted the lizard creature the man had suddenly gained control over, she knew she had to help.

This is what led her to meeting Scott McCall, the golden eyed Beta with the spirit of an Alpha. Maris never expected to go to the surface, she never expected to be pulled into the supernatural drama that had consumed Beacon Hills and she never expected to grow feelings for the local teen wolf whose heart had just been broken.

So Maris and Scott must work together to piece it back together, their feelings for each other binding the shards together like glue. Because if Scott knew one thing for certain about his life, it was that he wanted his Aqua-Girl in it.

Specie: Maris is an Atlantean from the city of Atlantis. She was born and raised there and knows hardly anything about the surface above.

Powers: Maris has super strength, agility and healing. Unlike werewolves, she doesn't have super senses but instead has the ability to control and manipulate water. Maris has a trident which can shrink to be clipped onto the chain around her neck. Also, she has Atlantean armour but she doesn't always have the time to change into it. Her abilities are enhanced when in water which is how she manages to feel the pain Matt is going through when Gerard drowns him. Instead of her eyes glowing gold, they glow a dark blue.

Weaknesses: Like how Werewolves can be poisoned by Wolfsbane, Atlanteans can be poisoned by Deadly Nightshade (Belladonna). Because she isn't a shapeshifter, Mountain Ash doesn't work on her. Electricity is a weakness and the total absence of water.

notes:

• Maris and Scott start off as friends but end up developing feelings for each other. Deaton gets Maris to be Scott's anchor when he goes under the water which makes them realise that the other feels the same. At the beginning of season 3B they slowly start their relationship.

• Maris likes to call Scott "puppy" so he calls her "Aqua-Girl". Stiles' nickname for her is "Little Mermaid" which annoys her because she's not a mermaid.

• She arrives at near the end of season 2 and instantly throws herself into the supernatural drama. This is because not only is she very curious about the surface, she is a very protective person, even over strangers.

• After Gerard and the Kanima is defeated, Maris decides to stay on the surface and the Stilinskis take her in. At the time, Noah just thinks she's a runaway who's in need of a home.

ACT ONE
teen wolf season 2

• Maris was swimming close to the surface when she felt the pain radiating through the water so she went to investigate and found Gerard drowning Matt. After seeing the Kanima, she knows that whatever is happening is supernatural so she goes to the surface. She doesn't know what to do so she ends up at the lacrosse game and when she sees Isaac being taken away, she goes to save him which is when she meets Scott. Then she starts to help them take down Gerard and by the end, she's friends with both Scott and Stiles and lives with Stiles.

ACT TWO
teen wolf season 3a

• Maris understands that Allison was manipulated by her grandfather but that doesn't mean she fully forgives nor trusts her. She's settling in to human life, Noah Stilinski managed to get her enrolled in school and she's now good friends with Lydia. The Alpha Pack are stunned by the Atlantean's appearance and Deucalion also wants Maris to join him, but she refuses. Scott and Maris are growing closer. She's there when Stiles tries to explain the supernatural to his Dad and when he's taken, Maris feels guilty because she believes she should've tried harder to protect him. Maris is the one to hold Scott under the water and then aids him and Deucalion with fighting Jennifer Blake. She gets badly hurt and Scott is incredibly worried and they end up together.

ACT THREE
teen wolf season 3b

• Maris and Scott are slowly starting their relationship. Kira and Maris are BROTP and Maris helps her to adjust to fit supernatural. In Atlantis, she had heard about the tales of the Nogitsune so she's one of the first to realise what they're dealing with, but she doesn't know how to stop it. Maris basically sticks with Scott most of the time.

ACT FOUR
teen wolf season 4

• Maris goes with the pack to Mexico and instead of Kira, Maris is the one to electrocute Scott. Mexico isn't really her favourite place to be because of the lack of water around, it makes her nervous. Stiles has help from Maris to teach Malia about living a normal life. Maris should be worth 15-20 million on the dead pool because she's a powerful badass. She's very protective over Liam, like an older sister would be. On her first date with Scott, she's kidnapped by Kate and injected with Belladonna. She ends up hallucinating her dead father who encourages her to bleed it out of her system. She quickly figures out what Kate did to Scott and saves him.

ACT FIVE
teen wolf season 5a

• Scott and Maris' relationship has strengthened and they're falling even deeper for each other. Maris doesn't trust Theo and doesn't like him, especially after he tries to flirt with her. After reading Valack's book, she hallucinates the day her father died, he was accidentally struck down by a submarine. Maris tries to help out Lydia figure out what Jordan is. When Theo tells Scott what happened between Stiles and Donovan, Maris doesn't believe a word he says and can't believe Scott does which puts a strain on their relationship.

ACT SIX
teen wolf season 5b

• Maris goes with Scott to the library which goes against Theo's plan; she attempts to step in the middle to stop the fight but ends up being knocked out by Liam. When she wakes up, Scott's dying and she completely shuts down, but when he finally wakes up, she admits she loves him. Maris goes with Stiles to visit Lydia and she also knows what's happening with Malia. She tries to patch up Stiles and Scott's relationship and goes with them to get Kira.

ACT SEVEN
teen wolf season 6a

• Maris and Stiles are both taken by the Ghost Riders which makes it worse for Scott because he lost the two people closest to him. In the picture, she's sat on his lap and he has an arm around her waist. Maris' relic is her trident necklace which the pack don't realise can turn into a life-sized version. Her room is next to Stiles' so Noah discovers them both, making him realise he has a son and a girl he cares for like his daughter. Scott's the one to bring her back.

ACT EIGHT
teen wolf season 6b

• Maris applied for the same college as Scott because she wants to do Marine Biology. In Atlantis, she had heard of the Anuk-Ite before. Maris's Mother, Atlanta, finally arrives in Beacon Hills after tracking down her daughter. At first, she tries to drag her home, but when she sees how happy she is, she lets her stay and helps with the fight. Maris the one locked in the room with Scott as the oxygen is sucked out. When the McCall house is shot up, both Maris and her mother are hit, but they heal. In the end, Maris stays on the surface and her mother returns to Atlantis, happy that her daughter is safe and spreads the word that the land above isn't as barbaric as they thought.

• Maybe a sweet epilogue could be written a few years after the final episode.
