CHAPTER SIX, family day

(kalia's outfit for the chapter is shown above)

After an acapella version of 'Be Our Guest' sung by some of the students, family day finally started. The front yard of the school was filled with students and their families, all talking and laughing with each other. The place was decorated and had tables set up along with tables full of food and drinks.

Kalia went over to where she noticed the four VKs standing at. She giggles when she saw Carlos and Jay were using the chocolate fountain. "Hey, guys." She greets, standing by Evie. She smiles at Dude in Evie's arms and scratches him behind the ear. "Hi, Dude."

"That was a great performance." Evie commented, smiling at her.

"Thanks, Eve." Kalia smiles back at her. "Carlos," She glances at the white and black-haired boy with an amusing smile. He looks up at her with a sheepish smile, slightly embarrassed since he now had chocolate around his mouth. "If you're okay with it, I would love it if you could meet my parents."

Carlos' eyes widen and his heart began to race. "Oh. Now?"

"Actually, there's something I need to tell you right now in private." Kalia admits. "We can talk to my parents later."

Carlos nodded in response, getting a napkin off the table to clean his face. He sets the napkin back down on the table before he quickly followed Kalia as she started to walk off to an area with less people.

"So, what's up?" Carlos asked, sending her a small smile as he did his best to try to hide his nerves.

"I know that you spelled me." Kalia replied.

Carlos' eyes widen and a look of panic forms on his face. "K-Kalia, listen, I can explain-"

"If you wanted me to go out with you why did you need to spell me?" Kalia interrupts him, frowning a bit. "You should've just asked me that instead of giving me a cookie that had a love spell in it. I would've said yes."

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to spell you..." Carlos pauses in the middle of his apology when he realized what she said. He perks up, smiling slightly. "Wait, really?" He shakes his head, mentally telling himself to focus. "I didn't mean to spell you. I just wanted to give you some chocolate chip cookies without any spell in them since I knew you liked them." He rubs the back of his neck nervously. "Mal must've made the cookies with the love spell in it for some reason."

Kalia's eyes widen when he said that. She points at him with a stern look on her face. "Okay, we'll get to that later 'cause I want to know why she would do that." A grimaced expression forms on Carlos face when she said that, he was dreading that conversation. She sighs. "I appreciate the fact you wanted to give me some of my favorite cookies." She smiles slightly. "I still think that's a sweet thing to do."

"Are you mad at me?" Carlos nervously asks. "I-I swear, it was a complete accident."

"I know." Kalia nods. She smiles reassuringly at him, reaching her hand out to him. He looks at her hesitantly before his lips curved into a small smile as he took ahold of her hand. "I'm not mad at you." Carlos sighs with relief, his tense shoulders relaxing. "I just wish you got the right cookie." She joked, laughing along with Carlos.

"So...Um...Are we still boyfriend and girlfriend?"Carlos stammered, looking at her with a hopeful glitn in his eyes.

Kalia smiles at him and kisses his cheek. He stares at her with surprise, his face turning a bright pink as his heart raced. "Yeah, we are. If you're okay with that."

"More than okay with it." Carlos smiled widely.

Kalia giggles a bit and gestures with a nod of her head. "Come on, I'll introduce you to my parents now."

Carlos bites his lower lip nervously. "Are you sure? I don't want them to hate me or be scared of me."

Kalia's face softens and she smiles reassuringly at him. "I promise they're gonna love you." Smiling encouragingly at Carlos, Kalia squeezed his hand gently and walked over to her parents excitedly. Carlos was nervous to meet Kalia's parents. He had heard stories about Tarzan, a man who had grown up in the jungle and lived among animals, and Jane Porter, a kind and intelligent woman who had fallen in love with him. Carlos feared that Kalia's parents would assume he's just like his mother. He wasn't sure how they would react when they found out he and Kalia were dating.

Kalia lets go of Carlos' hand when they reached her parents, who were talking with Flynnley and her parents. "Mom, dad!" She called out, gaining their attention. They politely ended the conversation with Eugene and Rapunzel before turning to face their daughter with a bright smile. Kalia smiled widely, pulling them into a hug. Carlos stood behind Kalia awkwardly, not really knowing what he should do. But he had a small smile on his face, happy that someone like Kalia had a loving family.

"Sweetheart, it's so good to see you!" Jane Porter said cheerfully.

"Yeah, we missed you a lot, Kalia." Tarzan adds. He smiles teasingly at his wife. "Some more than others."

"Hey," Jane said in a playful scolding tone. She lightly hits his shoulder when the family pulled away from the hug. "I wasn't the one who cried the day she left for Auradon Prep."

"Okay, so we both missed you very much and we're glad we're able to see you today." Tarzan admitted.

Kalia laughs a bit along with her mom. "I missed you guys too."

"And who's this?" Jane looked over at Carlos with a friendly smile.

"This is Carlos." Kalia gestures for him to walk over to them since he stood a few inches away. He smiles nervously, some of his nerves relaxing when Kalia put a comforting hand on his shoulder. "Yeah, we missed you a lot, Kalia." Tarzan adds. He smiles teasingly at his wife. "Some more than others."

"Hey," Jane said in a playful scolding tone. She lightly hits his shoulder when the family pulled away from the hug. "I wasn't the one who cried the day she left for Auradon Prep." "Carlos is the son of Cruella De vil." She locks eyes with Carlos, sharing a soft smile with him, her heart fluttering because of his smile and how he looked at her with fondness and adoration at what she says next. "And he's my boyfriend."

Jane shares a surprised look with her husband. Their daughter never dated anyone before and now suddenly she had a boyfriend? And one who's the son of Cruella De Vil? While they both were surprised and in a bit of disbelief, when they looked back t the couple they could see the obvious love they had for each other by the way they looked at each other. All they wanted was for Kalia to be happy and if Carlos made her happy, then they were fine with it.

"That's great, honey!" Jane smiles brightly at her daughter. "We're happy for you."

Kalia and Carlos glance at Jane and Tarzan with surprise. "Really?" Carlos cringed slightly at how surprised he sounded. He couldn't help it. He didn't think Kalia's parents would be okay with them being together, but he was very happy they were.

"Yeah," Tarzan nods, smiling slightly at him. "Welcome to the family, Carlos." As Kalia took her hand off of Carlos' shoulder, Tarzan pulls him in for a hug. "But if you ever hurt my little girl, I won't hesitate to hurt you." He threatened in a whisper tone.

Carlos swallows nervously and immediately replies with, "Got it."

When they pulled away from the hug, Jane speaks up, noticing the intimidating stare her husband was giving a nervous and scared Carlos. She lightly hits Tarzan's shoulder and his gaze softens when he looks at her. She sends him a disapproving look and shakes her head, earning a heavy sigh and an eye roll form Tarzan. Jane then glances at Carlos with a smile. "So, Carlos, have you played croquet before?"

"I haven't, ma'am." Carlos responded.

"Oh, then we can teach you." Kalia smiles. "In my opinion it's kinda boring though."

After a game of croquet, Kalia and Carlos spent some time just with each other. As they ran around the yard along with Dude, laughing and smiling at each other, Jane and Tarzan watched from the sides.

"He seems like a good kid." Jane noticed, smiling when Carlos pulled Kalia out of the way before she could trip on a croquet ball that she didn't notice.

"Yeah." Tarzan muttered.

Jane raises her eyebrow at him. "Why do you sound so upset?"

"She's our little girl. I hate how fast she's growing up." Tarzan admitted and Jane smiled softly at him.

"I do too, but we just have to accept the fact she's growing up. No matter what though she'll always be our little girl." Jane wrapped her arm around his waist, smiling when Tarzan wrapped his arm around her shoulders and kissed the top of her head.

"Yeah, you're right."

Kalia and Carlos glance over in the direction they suddenly heard someone yell, "You!" Kalia grimaced when she saw Queen Leah talking to Mal.

"H-How are you here?" Queen Leah asks Mal. "And how have you stayed so young?"

Kalia and Carlos walk over to them along with Evie and Jay. Ben joins Mal, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "Queen Leah, it's okay. Maleficent is still on the island This is her daughter, Mal. Don't you remember my proclamation to give the new generation a chance?"

"A chance to what, Ben?" Queen Leah asks with disbelief. "Destroy us?" She glances at Fairy Godmother, who now stood by her. "Come on. You remember, don't you? The poison apples. And the spells. The spells. " She looks at Mal with a glare. "My daughter was raised by fairies because of your mother's curse. So, her first words, her first steps, I missed it all!" She turns to face Fairy Godmother with a pleasing look, crossing her arms. "You mustn't trust her."

Mal steps forward, reaching a hand out with an apologetic look on her face. "I'm so-"

"Go away!" Chad steps in front of Mal, stopping her from reaching out to Queen Leah. "Stay away from her!"

"Don't do this, chad." Ben warned.

"What?" Chad scoffs. "They were raised by their parents, Ben. What do you think villains teach their kids? Huh? Kindness? Fair play? No way, okay? Uh-uh." He glares at Mal. "You stole another girl's boyfriend."

Ben steps forward so standing in front of Mal, glaring at Jay. "Hey, hey!"

Chad points at Jay and glare at him.. "You enjoy hurting people." He looks at Evie with a disappointed look, shaking his head with his hands on his hips. "And you, you're nothing but a gold digger and a cheater."

"Chad!" Kalia scolded him. She wanted to punch Chad so badly right now.

With a glare in her eyes, Evie gets out her mirror from her purse. "Mirror, mirror, in my hand, who's the biggest jerk in the land?" She showed her mirror to Chad as the mriror revealed Chad.

"What? Come on." Chad rolled his eyes, pushing Evie's hand away.

Jay steps forward, grabbing Chad's collar and pushing him away from Evie. "Back off, Chad."

Then Evie put her mirror back in her purse, grabbing a perfume bottle. She sprays it in Chad's face, causing him to fall backwards, unconscious. Ben pushes Jay back to stop him from trying to hit Chad. "Chad!" Audrey worriedly said.

"Evie did something to Chad!" Lonnie noticed. She, Audrey and Doug laid Chad on the ground and started to try to wake him up.

"Carlos?" Kalia furrowed her eyevrows as she noticed Carlos was hesitant on what to do. He had noticed his friend started to run and he wasn't sure if he should stay or go with them.

"Carlos!" Evie called out to him.

Carlos glances at Kalia with an apologetic look, feeling guilty about leaving her. "I'm sorry."

"It's okay." Kalia reassured him, gently squeezing his hand. She understood why he was running away, if she was him she would do the same. Carlos smiled a bit and squeezed her hand before letting go. He ran after his friends, glancing over his shoulder at her one last time before he faces the front as he kept running.

"Guys!" Ben yelled after the VKs, trying to get their attention, but the four teens didn't stop running.

"I feared something like this would happen." Kalia heard Ben's dad say as she walked over to Ben and his parents.

"This is not their fault!" Ben defended the VKs.

"No, son." Adam shakes his head. "It's yours."

Hurt flashes in Ben's eyes at his words and he watches with disbelief as his parents walk away.  Kalia frowns, standing by Ben. She hated the way Adam was so tough with Ben. Sure, this was technically Ben's fault since he invited the four VKs over, but he had good intentions with it and he didn't know something like this would happen.

"Mom?" Ben asked in a quiet tone, taking a step forward. Belle looked hesitant about leaving, but she still took ahold of her husband's hand and left with him, glancing at her son apologetically.

Kalia wrapped her arm around Ben's shoulders to comfort him.  She smiled sympathetically at him when he glanced at her and he just sighed, wrapping his arm around her waist and leaning his head on her shoulder. Glancing around the area, Kalia noticed that Chad had woken up and was standing, but he looked confused. Audrey had her arm linked with his and she scoffed at Ben, shaking her head with a disappointed look on her face when she and Chad walked past Ben and Kalia.

Chad looks around with confusion. "What happened? I had this dream..." Lonnie and Doug glanced at Ben with sympathy before they walk away.
