When mom is a Hiddlestoner
*Lexie*
I had gotten that feeling, you know like someone is watching you, but I can see anyone, so I must have just imagined it. I shrug to myself and walk inside to the reception. Instantly hearing my mother's voice. "Lexie sweetie".
"Mom, dad, so good to see you". I say happily, hugging them both. I have always been very close with my parents. And I am happy that they are the first people I run into at this place.
My mom look at me, shaking her head slightly. "You look beautiful my girl, but not like someone marrying into British royalty. By the way where is Edward ?"
"He had to go to an important conference in Vegas". I say with a small shrug. "But he should be here in about a week, for all the important things".I know my mother won't approve.
And I was right, my mother looks a bit disapproving. "And he couldn't put his work aside even for his own wedding ? I mean it's his family wanting this big extravagant party at this fancy place. I am happy they are paying for everything, because me and Your father could never afford to stay here for almost a month".
"Well the doctor probably have important patients to attend to and even more important connections to make". My father says, as always trying to smooth things over, well kind of.
"Yeah I am sure there are some very important strippers who need new boobs and Hollywood hot shots whit liposuction emergencies". My mom say, making a face. She is not overly impressed by Edward's job.
I can't help giggling and my father rolls his eyes. "It's okay mom". I tell her. "Then I have more time to spend with you guys".
"And we are very happy for that pumpkin, because we don't see you enough these days. But we would have loved to get to know Edward better to.. and his family of course". My father says with a kind smile.
I groan internally at the mention of Edwards family. I have only met them once, when we went to visit them for 2 weeks, but honestly it was more than enough. And I know his family and mine Will mix like Oil and water. "Well, just be prepared.. they are.. well very british.. in a bad way".
"I am sure they are not that bad, maybe you just need to get to know them better". My mother say. "And I mean who wouldn't love you my dear ?"
That is when I hear the scrill voice of Elizabeth Throckmorton and turn to see her approach, her stilettos clicking on the tiled floor. "Lexie dear, finally you are here.. we have so much to do".
"Elizabeth". I say, smiling. Watching the impeccable woman walk over to give me an airy hug and even more airy kisses to each of my cheeks. "Come meet my parents.. Olivia and Sebastian Miller".
I can see how she gives my parents a once over, and decide that they are hardly worth her time. Before she says hallo, extending her perfectly manicured hand for them to shake. My parents both smile and greet her, but I can feel that they are disappointed, just as I expected.
"I found the most beautiful dress for you. You are going to look like a princess. Well after we do something with those God awful curls". She say pulling at a lock of my hair, shaking her head.
My father furrows his brow, his voice colder than I ever heard it before. "Well I happen to think that Lexie's curls are beautiful and fits her very well".
"They are just so wild, she really can't have those for the wedding. How would we ever get a tiara on her head ?" Elizabeth say with a smile. "Well nice meeting you all. I need to go for a meeting with the wedding planner.. ta ta". And then she is of.
"Nice woman, really heart warming I got to say". My father say sarcastically looking after her, my mother shaking her head.
I sigh. "Yeah sorry guys, I told you. She is something else. But luckily for me she lives in England, so I won't see her to often after the wedding. Edward is not really one who visit his parents to much".
"Well let's forget her, what do you say we have dinner in the gorgeous restaurant tonight ? Let's say in 2 hours ?" My mother ask.
I smile at them and nod. "Sure, lets meet here by the bar then". I hug them both again, before going to my room to unpack and freshen up after the trip
When I am all done unpacking, having showered and dressed and there is still half an hour until dinner, I decide to go down to the bar and get a beer, waiting for my parents. Watching the people. I like watching people.
Arriving at the bar, I smile at the cute bartender and ask for a beer. When I get it I go sit in one of the armchairs, watching people walk past. I know that a lot of them are distant family and friends of Edwards family, but I don't know them and it feels kind of weird knowing they are here for my wedding, but they don't even recognise me.
I notice a man coming out of the elevator. Well it would be hard not to notice him. He is really tall, at least 6'2 and with a slim but strong build. I watch as he walks to the bar and talk to the bartender. His face is strikingly handsome with ginger-sandy hair and a heavy stubble on the strong jaw.
But what I notice most is the warm smile that never leave his lips. He get whisky from the bartender and look around, spotting me. I am the only one in the bar beside him. His smile widens and he walk over. Damn he got legs for miles, clad in fitted black jeans.
"Hi there, mind if I sit ?" He say as he stands in front of me. That dark blue T-shirt could be painted on his muscular biceps, and as my eyes run over the chest, I can just slightly see the curved shape of his pecs. "It's boring sitting here alone".
"Sure. Hi I am Lexie". I say holding my hand out and he grabs it in his, his big hand totally engulfing mine. He has a firm and warm handshake.
He sits down in the other chair. "A pleasure to meet you Lexie. I am Tom by the way". He takes a sip of the whisky before sitting it down on the table. "So here for the big wedding ?"
"Well yeah, I guess you can say that". I say, taking a sip of my own beer. He looks somewhat familiar, but I can't really place him. Maybe he just have one of those faces.
He lifts one eyebrow, his voice getting a bit of a teasing edge. "Hmm I am guessing bridesmaid ? You have that look of someone forced into a horrid dress chosen by someone else".
*Tom*
"Nope, not a bridesmaid". She say with a kind of sad looking smile. I had seen her in the bar, recognising her as the woman I saw from my balcony. I hadn't been able to resist going over to talk to her.
She is wearing a short skirt, giving a great view of those shapely legs and a white wrap shirt, cut so the soft curves of her breasts is visible. Her amazing blond curls a purr around her face.
I try keeping myself from staring were it would be inappropriate, I am not the kind of man who talk to a woman's breast instead of her face. But I have to admit it's hard, her skin looks like creamy silk, and I wonder how it would feel to the touch. "Oh so you were lucky and dodged that bullet ?"
"Well I guess you can say that". She say, taking a long sip of her beer, her eyes looking at her hands. "I am not a bridesmaid, because I'm the bride".
Knowing that my eyes go wide I stare at her, feeling just a bit floored. I had not seen this coming. Well that is kind of a bummer. "Oh.. I really put my foot in my mouth there didn't I ? Sorry I didn't mean to offend you".
"It's okay.. I mean how could you know. I am not running around in a wedding dress here". She says with a small shrug and a smile.
I am a bit afraid that might offend her, but well I tend to run my mouth and I am to curious not to say anything, so I put down my glass. "It's just.. you don't strike me as a bride.. at all.. no offence".
"None taken.. but what do you mean ? I mean what do I lack in the bride department ?" She is looking at me curiously, but luckily not offended.
I weight my words, not wanting it to come out wrong. "It's just.. well you lack that glow.. that sparkle women usually have just before their wedding. And well as far as I heard it is some really fancy high class thing. You look.. well normal and down to earth".
"Oh.. well I guess I am just not that kind of woman, the going crazy over her wedding type you know". She say with a shrug. "And my future mother in law is kind of running the whole show anyway. This is her dream wedding".
Taking another sip of my whisky, I wonder.. I mean, I am a bit disappointed that she is about to get married.. but honestly she don't look like someone wanting to get married. "That sound .. bad. But I might be totally wrong.. I mean I am a total stranger, so maybe don't listen to me".
"It is bad.. but I mean, they have so many traditions and everything has to bigger than life. On the other hand I have never really been one of those women that wanted it all in a certain way". She shrugs, then empties her beer.
*Lexie*
Should I feel offended by what he is saying ? Maybe.. but I am not really. I mean I can see that he means no offence. He is open and honest, it is plain to see. And for some reason he seems concerned.. he is clearly someone who cares about others, even a stranger like me. It is a rare thing in these days.
I see my parents come out of the elevator. "There are my parent, we are having dinner so.. I better get going".
"Well it was a pleasure meeting you Lexie. I hope you at least get something to say regarding the wedding. And maybe I see you around". He say with a warm smile.
I offer him my hand and he takes it, not really shaking it, more just holding it. And I get this weird feeling, like warmth spreading up through my arm. "You too Tom. Yeah see you around.. I hope".
"I'm sure we'll run into each other. I am staying here till after the wedding". He say, as I gently pull my hand from his and get up. "Have a nice dinner and evening Lexie".
"You too Tom". I say, sending him one last smile, before walking over to greet my parent, who are both curiously eyeing Tom.
We walk towards the restaurant, and as soon as we are out of earshot my mom leans in to whisper. "Uhm sweetie, what were you talking to Tom Hiddleston about ?"
"Tom..". I turn and look at him, holy cow.. that is why he seemed familiar. But I mean.. I remember him as a gangly a bit nerdish black haired guy in Thor. "I didn't recognise him.. what the hell happened there ? I mean he is..very different".
"He just finished filming a new movie. He bulged up a bit for the part and well I guess he grew up too". My mom say with a small smile. Yeah embarrassing enough, my mom is a big fan of him.
My father roll his eyes and mutter something to himself. I just shrug. "Well he came over and asked if he could sit down, didn't want to sit alone. We talked for a bit.. he seems nice".
"He is such a gem sweetie. You will never meet a sweeter, more caring man". My mom says, making my father clear his throat. This time my moms is the one rolling her eyes. "Well beside your father of course".
"Stop fangirling mom.. and now let's go have dinner". I say grinning. My parents are so cute sometimes and they have the perfect relationship... I want that.
