The People
The People is a growing movement of like minded world citizens reaching out to stop human trafficking and modern day slavery. Taking the lead, in the beginning, were two old friends, Windy and Jimmy.
Though the aging Unlikely Assassin has given way to his daughter, Jordan a new breed of assassin. While her father was cunning, charismatic and street tough, Jordan is a deadlier version with an intellect that exceeds most geniuses. But one thing they do share is the passion to make things right.
Windy, the expert code and algorithm developer is known only as the Phantom in the computer world. Whether it is the dark web or the web 99% of people use she is undetectable. She was only twenty-three when she had a chance meeting with Jimmy in a coffee shop and asked to join the cause.
The early days was just Jimmy on a personal mission to get to the bottom of a mysterious internet video. Once the two found the meaning to that video he became a hunter of human traders.
Jimmy was raw and clumsy when he began but what he lacked in skills he made up for with his charm and a viscous left cross. He knew human trafficking was much larger than anything he could tackle alone. Windy helped Jimmy build a network of like minded people willing to take on the same challenge.
He was not in it for glory otherwise Windy would have left him where he stood. Jimmy would only use his personal money to fund his hunting trips. When he found the first human trader Windy helped him locate money to help the victims. Where was the money found? In the personal bank accounts of the traders.
With their network growing, Jimmy wanted to dismantle the biggest human trafficking organization known to the world. The notorious 356 originated well back in time and today the founding families are still profiting from the same business. The numbers of people collected and sold are astounding for this group. Over three million people a year are sifted through their dirty hands.
The autumn of 2007 Windy and Jimmy set out to crush the six major families in the 356. They sent their network out, flooding the law enforcement agencies around the world with their dirty deeds over the last 150 years. It wasn't enough, the families bought their freedom with their vast vaults of cash.
That outcome did not sit well with the People who took a different approach and raided the coffers of the executive families of the 356. Every cent taken from the bank accounts was distributed to the victims and their families. This action made the 356 sit up and take notice. They were now the hunted.
Considered an invasion of privacy, which was understood by the People, the governments did not pursue the 356 families for their crimes. The non action by governments was a setback for the People but one that made them more determined to bring the group down.
Jimmy found invading the 356 privacy was a price he would pay for freedom of the ones taken, the abused and especially the forgotten. He was a stubborn man with a sense of profound compassion knowing people were taken advantage of and being profited from. The price of his actions would pale in comparison of ignoring such activity.
The new Unlikely Assassin is young, intelligent and deadly. Jordan is not willing to play by the same rules that allow human rights to be trampled. She is as stubborn as the day is long and committed to being the voice for those had their voices taken.
To Jordan, the forgotten are not forgotten. The abused are to find sanctuary. The forced laborers are to be freed.
As she grows, Jordan is discovering she is changing physically, emotionally and mentally.
In the end, Jordan believes that changing hearts and minds of the abusers will ultimately be the only way the industry dies. Those unwilling to change may find themselves face to face with the Unlikely Assassin.
