I. She noticed senpai

Hannah Leniard was a serious and a devoted student. Her parents were very proud of her and her grades. She was calm and polite, and never caused any trouble at school.

The boys at her school thought she was incredibly cute and lovely with her wavy long blond hair and deep ocean blue eyes. She was overly shy; she blushed very easily. She was pretty short; her body was very petite yet graciously curved. Her small chest embarrassed her a bit, so she always felt awkward about wearing tight shirts and worried about looking like a twelve years old little girl — even if her girl friends always told her she is being too paranoid.

So, they dragged her along to the pool party Stephan Martinez has held in occasion of his sixteen birthday.

"No—I will have to wear a bikini! No!"

"Come on! No one cares about your boobs, Hannah. You're coming. End of discussion."

Hannah sat down the whole time, arms wrapped around her ugly-small-annoying chest and watching as her classmates went around the pool, swam, chitchatted and laughed. She had a white bikini, small gold earrings and white nail polish on. Her hair was tied up in a high ponytail and her sunglasses rested on her head. Some male classmates would flash her a smile and she would just smile back and wave.

"Hannah! Come on! The water is great!" Her friend Alice called from in the pool. Stephan was swimming right beside her, his smirk getting smug the more he approached the brunette. But oh, everyone knew he had a crush on Alice, except for Alice herself.

"Come on!"

"Hannah!"

Hannah sighed. She tried to crack a smile.

"If you don't come right this instant, the girls and I are going to drag you in!" Alice pointed at Mona and Kaeli who were swimming too. They giggled.

"Fine, fine..." Hannah sighed again and got up. She looked around after she placed her sunglasses on the chair and put her hair up in a bun. Well, no one was really paying attention to her or her boobs. Maybe she was paranoid, after all.

The blond haired girl giggled and walked forward the pool. "I'm coming!" she shouted, before jumping in-

"Look out! Someone is there!"

Hannah gasped. It was too late for her to walk back. She stumbled forward and fell right into the person who has just regained the surface – whom lifted up their arms, caught her instantly and held her up by her... hips. Everyone stopped to stare at the scene.

Matthew Ketchum.

"Oh, nice shot, Matt! If you know what I mean!"

"He's showing off his basketball skills!"

"They work with women too!" There was a loud echo of laughs among the boys.

Matthew Ketchum was a tall, bubbly, funny and cheerful guy. He played the guitar, showed to be a very good Math student and always managed to miss the first twenty minutes of first morning period. His favorite place at school was probably the cafeteria, because the coach of the basketball team, the one Matt was in, always scolded him about not watching his diet.

The fact that Hannah has never noticed how really cute he is until he held her up by the hips in Stephan's birthday pool party is unforgettable.

"I'm sorry! I really am! I didn't mean to! Are you okay, Hannah?" Matthew panicked and put Hannah slowly down into the water. He was a little too tanned than he was last year, probably from playing basketball outside, but the blush was clear on his cheeks. No one could deny that his eyes were all over Hannah's body as he held her up.

He glanced down at her chest once, twice, thrice. Hannah turned so red in the face she was sure Matthew noticed.

How come she's never noticed how sexy his shaggy shoulder-length black hair was? Were his eyes always this hazel? Ever since freshman year? When did this happen? And wait, when did he get braces?

"Uh—uh." Hannah was lost.

Soon, everyone came to them. They teased them, laughed at them, teased them again, called Matthew a little perv (he just laughed nervously at that), said he liked when he saw and what he touched (he actually tackled the boys for saying that) and soon the story was forgotten and people moved on.

Except for Hannah.

Two words: unforgotten and unforgettable.

Ever since, Matthew has been haunting Hannah's mind. She has never liked a guy like she liked Matthew before. No. Matt was a very special person for Hannah. She thought about him every single minute of the day; before sleep, after sleep, during the day, during meals, after meals. Literally all day long.

"Just tell him." Her mom thought this crush thing was cute. She really wanted to see her daughter happy with someone.

"I can't!"

As smitten as Hannah may sound and look, she could and would never get the courage to tell Matthew about her feelings. It was that stupid shy side of her personality; she preferred to stay in the shadows and watch Matthew at lunch time mimic Coach when he scolds him and his friends laugh loudly at it.

It was hell. Every time Matthew walked past her, Hannah blushed hard. Every time he sat beside her in class, she wouldn't be able to concentrate. Every time she got paired up with him in Science (which happened frequently for some reason she ignored), her hands wouldn't stop trembling and her ears would turn red.

And today, for some reason she ignored too, the only free spot left was to her right, and seeing how Matthew gets always a bit late, he will sit beside her for sure.

Hannah frowned and turned around. She sighed. Alice and Mona giggled. Kaeli pointed at her cheeks.

Hannah touched her face. She hid it with her hands and groaned lightly as she slowly put her head on her desk.

"And we conclude that-"

"Uh—uhm, good morning. I'm sorry. I'm a bit late, kind of."

Hannah cleared her throat. No. No. She wouldn't look up.

"Kind of? Mr. Ketchum, you never learn, will you?" Chuckles. Hannah didn't laugh. She had other things to worry about now.

"I'm sorry?"

"Just... come on. Take a seat."

Hannah's heart was beating so fast by now. She felt Matthew take the seat beside her, as she expected. She looked up slowly, making sure she is not turning the slightest bit to her right. No. She wouldn't look at him.

"Uh, Hannah? Can I see what did you write before I got here?" Matthew just leaned forward Hannah's desk and grabbed her notebook.

Hannah didn't look at him.

"Uhm, I can, right?" Matthew noticed she didn't give the permission.

Hannah just 'ignored' him. She needed to concentrate. Seeing his face this early in the morning will ruin the whole day.

"Okaaaay... I'm sorry..." Matthew gave her back her notebook and slowly put it on her desk. Hannah quickly glanced down at his hand as he did so. Why the frick did she find his hand and his bracelets attractive? It's just a hand. What was wrong with Hannah?

Everything, probably.

"Mr. Ketchum! First, you come late, and second, you bother Miss Leniard!"

"I wasn't—I didn't-"

"Okay. We needed a volunteer anyway. Come on. To the board."

Well, at least she could watch him peacefully now.

"You think this is funny, Miss Leniard? Come on. You too. To the board."

Or not.

To be continued

I'm laughing while publishing this.
