Chapter-51: Clayton
We all took our time to relax and loosen our muscles, and I chose to doze off for the remainder of the journey. However, there was this unattractive, plump woman whose cute eyes seemed fixated on me without pause.
Let's be honest here. Despite her unconventional appearance, she had a captivating smile that was hard to resist. Even though it bruised my ego, she had an undeniable charm.
But no, I didn't have any romantic interest in her or any other woman, for that matter.
"But maybe I'm someone who could change your mind about that, don't you think?" she whispered, inching closer to me.
"What? I didn't mean-"
"Oh, you're so adorable! You didn't even realize you were saying those things aloud!"
"Shh, keep it low. You know we have to be confidential in this case. At least until the mission is over and successful." I warned, eyeing every place other than her eyes, also watching out if anyone woke up.
"I thought jocks were fun. Like 'fun' fun. And you are just....just-"
"Just what? I'm...I'm fun, man. I'm just being secured and practical." At that, she covered her mouth with her palm as her giggles came in between.
"Literally, Claydoh. I mean, one of the greatest jokes in my lifetime."
"Hey!" I playfully punched her in the shoulder.
We talked a bit more until Organa violently pressed on the brakes, everyone bouncing up as a result.
"Now what's wrong? Only an hour passing and another villain? Ah, man." I sighed, raising up my head to face the ceiling.
"Aren't they your classmates, dear?" Curious, I normalized my position, and zooming in, I saw Brittany and Angela standing with a sense of despair.
"What are you guys doing here?" I got up, my hands touching the seats one by one to go forward.
She snapped her head back instant and widened her eyes, "Clay? Darling, is that you?"
I parted my lips to reply back but heard Addy retort from the back, "No, it's his twin brother, you idiot."
My lips quirked a smile, gazing upon Addy and I let the others do the talk.
"Whatever, you curly ball. And for you, Clay darling, I was here for a vacation with my boyfriend except that assho-I mean he forgot-I mean nobody forgets me, he had some family issues. However, the stupid driver forgot to get sufficient gas, which is why I'm stuck on this empty stupid road!"
"Austin? Kens! Thank god you're here too!" She pushed me aside, rushing to the back side seat where Austin sat, but Beca stood up from the seat in alignment after Austin, further blocking her.
"I thought you have a boyfriend? Or is it that you have booked people as an alternative when your...you know, temporary actual boyfriend ditches you?" She raised one of her eyebrows and I smirked along with her when Brittany got speechless.
"Boyfriend-for-hire? What's his salary though?"
"Beca, that's enough!" Austin hopped up from his seat, brows snapped together, deadass look glaring at Beca. That, was, however, supposedly weird.
"Anyways, what are you six doing together? I mean you guys aren't even popular enough to reach the level of me and Austin."
"Except we didn't invite you? You are more of an unwanted and unnecessary guest. If you know what I mean." Joey scoffed, popping her head out.
"Gross you JoJo whatever."
"Joey. Joey is her name." Travis snapped, but she only rolled her eyes.
-
Adeline stood up, stepping towards her bag that was behind the seats of Brittany and Angela.
She crouched down to take out the water bottles but stopped any movement all of a sudden.
I frowned, wondering what was wrong.
Her eyes slowly widened as her breathing quickened.
I jumped up to the rescue as I rushed to hold her for support and bring her up to sit.
Brittany threw a disgusted look at us before looking in front without caring about anything in this world except herself.
"What's wrong? Addy, what happened?" Beca questioned, everyone, getting up to face her as I held her shoulders imagining all the possible cases.
"OMG, you have a breathing problem? Are you gonna...like die?" I asked, concerned.
She shot me a furious look, before hitting me on the shoulder.
"Hey I'm the good guy here!" I rubbed my shoulder, glaring at her.
"You won't believe what I heard!" She whisper-yelled.
"We won't if you don't say," Joey complained, waiting for her statement.
"Brittany is the one."
"For who?" I chuckled, imagining what Cupid's role she was playing.
"Idiot, she is the one villain here."
"How do you know?" Beca asked, sitting on the nearest seat.
"I just heard her telling how she will cut the throats and feed it to her tigers."
"Wow, she has a tiger." Joey stuck out her lower lip impressed.
"That's not the point. You are saying she is one of the descendants?
"No doubt man! No one can be as cruel as her!" Travis added from behind, pulling up his spectacles to a firm position.
"Whatever. But how are you so sure she was talking about our throats?" Joey pointed.
"Whoever throat it may be, the whole scenario and mindset is utterly villainous! And a normal person wouldn't think that."
"I would." Joey scoffed.
"But I do believe you. It can't be such a great coincidence that she finds us here out of nowhere, whereas she's never the one to travel on the road without any servant. It's impossible." Beca stated and I had no option but to agree with all the solid proofs.
"So what do we have to do?" I interrupted.
"We can't attack unless we know what she is and what her powers are. Unlike the pixies, we know nothing about her type and weakness." Beca pointed out as we tried to figure out what to do.
"But wait. You can't just accuse her out of the blue. She can be anything but not the bad one here."
"What's your problem, Austin? One of your toys gone, it won't hurt, okay? I get it you're mystically connected to her but this is serious!"
"Shut up! Just shut up! Don't talk unless you know!" Austin shouted out, snatching Brittany's attention who looked pretty curious. But before she could intrude on the conversation, Organa distracted her with her words.
"Look, it's not because I like her or something. I've been with her for a while and I know her types. She's the spoiled brat hovering over rich hot guys and...and too much of a pig-headed dumbass to be the Dark Lord's descendants. I don't know about Angela, but I can confirm this about Brittany that she can't possibly be the villain here."
Before the point could lead to more questions, Beca furiously got up from her knees and stomped to one of the front seats, crossing her arms.
"Might as well be a problem. She's the root of this team, and this is definitely not the time to upset her. Especially not when I'm here." I warned, glaring at Austin who had a nonchalant face fading to guilt and regret.
He slowly got up and proceeded to the seat beside Beca, my smile quirking up.
I and Addy exchanged looks before tiptoeing to the seat behind those two.
"Hey, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to snap at you." Austin started.
"Not like it matters."
"It does. That's why I'm here trying to put down your bluffy angry face."
"I'm not angry. Why would I be? Not like I care about you nor does your relationships affect me. It never did and will never."
"But don't I affect you?" He seductively smirked, his hands creeping slowly to Beca's cheeks. She cringed and turned around to face him, eyes locking onto each other.
"Do I matter to you?" Austin inquired, his hopes emboldening him.
"Why do you think you would?"
"Cause you matter to me."
"What's the proof?"
"I love you."
"Go away, you dishonest person."
"You know if you couldn't get rid of me for the past 6 years, why now?"
"Cause...cause..."
"Cause maybe you should start thinking about us."
"Why, that's gross."
"You mean gorgeous."
"I swear to god Austin-"
"You love me, don't you?"
"Yeah right." She rolled her eyes, but even I could detect authenticity in their bonding.
"You know, we both can't lie that you meant all of the words you said during my almost death."
"We both know that was just to distract the queen."
"You risked your life for me. What more proof do you want?"
"I risked my life for my teammate, that's it."
Austin's smirk quirked up more as he leaned in towards Beca's face, their eyes switching from their eyes and lips.
"Also, thanks for raising my hopes. There was a point when I thought our relationship was hopeless, but I now know, I'm more than a teammate to you. And I'll prove that." Without hesitation, he quickly moved in to kiss their lips, a moment that had the potential to be absolutely perfect, had it not been for the untimely interruption of Brittany, whose loud, shrill voice pierced the air as she exclaimed, "Stop! Stop the bus! I need to use the restroom!"
"Seriously man?" I angrily snapped at her, "Why do you have to be the freaking spoiler! This was such a heartwarming mome-" Addy suddenly slapped her palm to my mouth and I realized that they were looking at us and I would be in big trouble if they found us eavesdropping.
"I mean, I was having such a heartwarming dream!" I said once Addy removed her palm, chuckling nervously.
"Whatever, Clayton." She raised her eyebrows as if disgusted by my face. Might just look at herself.
"There's this washroom. And we both want to use it before continuing the journey."
"Aargh."
-
The door knocked but we were surprised to see no one at the door.
"You think her power's invisibility?" I whispered to Joey, who was mumbling a donut beside me.
"That's gonna be hella tough if true."
My eyes then dropped down to a small kitten, innocently moving her claws against the door.
Addy excitedly opened the door, pulling up the kitten with her hands, and raising it above her head. To be honest, the girl looked more adorable than the cat, but I intended to go forward and caress it.
With one more step to be able to touch it, the kitten hopped up from Addy's embrace, and as shocking as it was, it cross-jabbed Addy on her right cheek, causing her to fall to the ground.
"That's Brittany, ain't it?"
