Chapter-41
My chest rose up and back as I tried to focus and zero in on my thoughts. Fear gripped my trembling hands which were placed on his palms, as we were swaying to the melody. Part of his silver hair was covered in the cap he wore, while the other side was glistening straight in the dazzling light bulbs.
"Lucas? Wha-what are you...?" I stuttered, yet startled by his presence.
"Surprise? Huh, leave that. I thought you would be happy seeing me."
No words left my mouth, as it still took me time to sink into what I perceived.
"Okay, let's see what I'm hiding in my sleeve, 'kay? Hmm, so listen. I'm here to take a valuable thing that is known to belong to me and only me. Which I believe is with your beloved grandmother. And my mentor. Ex-mentor." He rolled his eyes, as he continued to speak in French, "But whatever. I see you have been more experienced with all violent bullshit, but you should know that whom you fought before was just the amateur version of me who felt pity for you. Plus, I don't think you're the wildfire, yeah? Cool."
I frowned, numb with shock but I definitely took into account each word he uttered.
"Last but not least, don't fret about it. These are not worth it, okay? Flow with the destruction of the world and yours, and be on the Dark Lord's side. I'm pretty sure you'll make a beautiful household." He winked, and I stared disgustedly.
"About Casper...he's a cool dude but disgustingly sentimental. Too much drowned in emotions, you know? Except he's very much sly at not being who he shows. However, if you're smart enough, then...we'll meet again." He dropped his hand from my touch, slowly backing off.
"Meet me again at-
The love of steel and lace
Cupid's shining shot pointing heaven.
Cones of light highlight
On gold sheen of silver
When night falls over mysteries
Of hidden identities and enigmas.
Hope you all the best of unfortunate calamities." He winked lastly, his body slowly blending with the background, fading into the disappearance.
His words, especially the riddle he chanted reflected in my thoughts, and in the middle of the crowds, I was totally unaware of what to do- whether I should scream at the top of my lungs, cursing the universe in every way possible or should I fold myself in a ball from where I would never come out.
I gasped and panted, breathing intensifying each second his presence replayed in my head.
I cringed suddenly when someone poked my shoulder. I pivoted around and saw Austin smiling.
With no more agony displayed, instinctively I wrapped my arms around his waist, and put my head on his chest.
I felt him shake but slowly relax into the proximity.
"Nice show, dude."
The surroundings came familiar as I calmed down, my breath hitching. Since there were numerous innocent people in the area, I wouldn't want to create a blunder by overreacting over what I saw.
I took a deep breath and looked up at Austin. He smiled gently, and I patched up an instinctive smile for him.
"So you wanted to dance?"
"You didn't," I muttered.
"I do now." He said with a smirk, as his hands crept up to intertwine with my right hand, whilst the other one led my hand up to his chest.
"That's so inviting." I raised my eyebrows in sass, as he chuckled, taking a few steps closer to me until my body was flushed against his.
I could feel his breath towering my face, as my blood rushed to my cheeks.
"You're too moody," I complained.
"Am I supposed to say thank you?"
"No, supposed to ask why. Cause I still hate you."
"And here we go again." He playfully rolled his eyes.
"Eenie meenie mini mo, your crush on me is a serious go." He blinked continuously with an impish smile.
"Jeez. That's too much cheese." I plastered a look of disgust.
He placed his hands on my hips, my face becoming red as he moved me to the beat.
We argued and chatted a bit during the dance and I had almost forgotten about that strange phenomenon.
"Drama, oh holy-," he blurted.
"Huh?"
He pointed and low and behold, at the side of the swimming pool, stood Addy with a bottle of alcohol in her hands, screaming the lyrics to the jazz song played, making it sound like hip-hop but worse.
I fringed from whatever I was doing and rushed towards her.
As the view got clearer, I perceived Clay frustratingly waving his hands up and down, trying to calm down Addy. She then got up on a table, the glasses and bottle tumbling down on the floor, as she shoved them out with her feet.
"To all the beautiful and hideous teenagers, the playboys, jocks, and whores out there!" She began yelling, her body wiggling sideways.
"I'm totally new here but had so many adventures! I've been wanting to write a blog- but these ghosts, La Llorona-" she was continuing, and even though I knew no one would believe her right now and then, I didn't want to take any risk and make situations dodgy.
I scanned the room pronto and picked up a plate of leftover cheese nachos from a nearby table and threw it at her.
She was alarmed but cracked into laughter while picking out the food from her stained dress.
"And there's my enemy's best friend who is my best friend! Isn't that gorgeous? Hey gorgeous, what's up? You look like a pineapple, but where's the SpongeBob?" I parted my mouth to demand a calm reaction from her, except she silenced me by throwing a nachos chip at me, that hit my nose.
"Gross, Addy! Will you come down right now?" I yelled back, disgustingly removing the nachos away.
"Hah. You look like Doraemon! But you need blue - oh Joey's blue hair is a purr-fect fur! Yeah?"
I wondered who that was, but assumed it to be one of her childhood fandoms, relating to SpongeBob. Jeez, lord.
"Oh shit. My beautiful dress is... is ruined!" She hissed, "Might take it off, and bath! I'm stinking! Oh, that's such a big bathtub!" She exclaimed pointing at the swimming pool, and I widened my eyes, fearing of her next moves.
I rushed to the table beside the pool where she stood wiggly and poked her leg, "Addy, don't be stupid! Come down at once!"
"No Mom! I wanna shower!" She kicked her leg at my stomach unintentionally, and I fell back into the pool, drenched in water.
"Whoops!"
She shielded her face with her hand, but once she lowered it, she began unbuttoning her shirt. In a panic, I immediately stood up, drenched in water, attempting to prevent her from embarrassing herself. However, before I could reach her, her dress slipped down her body, and with Clay next to me, I covered his eyes with my hand, my jaw dropping in shock.
Annoyed, Clay removed my hand and grumbled, "Everyone's watching, and I'm not a pervert like a 6-year-old-" He stopped mid-sentence as his gaze landed on Addy, saying, "Thank goodness it didn't happen. You know, the whole..."
I lightly slapped his shoulder and let out a relieved sigh. Addy was wearing a short dress, or rather a long tank top underneath, for some inexplicable reason. It was wrapped in a magenta glittery layer, giving her a shiny appearance. It made me chuckle, wondering if she had applied the glitter herself. However, what bothered me was that she didn't seem to mind her exposed legs and shoulders, which made me question what kind of friend I was.
I scowled and hurriedly approached her, but before I could grab hold of her, she jumped into the pool. She lifted her head and stared at Clay in a strange manner.
"Hey! Aren't you the conceited jealous kid who looks like a 15-year-old?"
"Hey, that's rude!" Clay whined, crossing his arms in a fit of anger.
"You said I ate your poop! Hah, I thought it was Nutella!"
Both my and Clay's eyes were bulging out in embarrassment, Clay's cheeks flushing a dark red.
Whispers went around the area and laughter echoed, contrasting with it. I looked around shamefully on behalf of Addy, that is.
"Enough!" I exclaimed once and for all, forcing Addy to get out of the pool. She tried to get rid of my hand, but I pressured her on my hold, dragging her to the bathroom.
"How crazy can you be?" I yelled, splashing tap water on her face.
"Zero crazy?" She playfully rolled her eyes, her body swaying and shifting around.
"Get into this shower room, and fresh up, get it?" I ordered firmly, twisting the knob open. As my eyes went, my eyelids rose at the sight of Travis peeing with his body backward.
"Oh lord!" I slammed the door shut and my face scrunched up in utter disgust and embarrassment.
Why me?
-
"Both of us know that Addy doesn't drink. And you were with her." I tapped my foot, waiting for the confession.
"Okay sorry! It was just a prank! I didn't know she would get so psyched up in total wrestler mania mode!" Clay affirmed my suspicions and my lips set in a straight line.
"Now what?"
" She's showering," I answered to Austin.
"At least she got one thing she wanted insane." Clay chuckled but slowly stopped as we glared at him.
"C'mon. Don't be angry. It was fun."
"She told me she ate your poop! Do you know how people will take that as?"
"They probably didn't hear anything." He waved off, but turned his sight backward as Brittany passed, commenting, "What ingredients do you put in your poop, Clay? Didn't know it tasted Nutella." They cackled bitterly and I smirked.
"Oh shoo off! She was drunk and saying stuff she didn't know about!"
"Of course, truth is found in drinks and anger!" She said in a sing-song, and the three of us laughed at him.
Joey separated going in a different direction while Clay rushed off, avoiding us and consistently cursing under his breath. I got left out with Austin anyhoo and crackled along with him.
"It was dope."
"And utterly embarrassing."
"Can't argue. Clay's gonna get heck of a reputation."
As soon as he said that, Taylor's song played in the background yelled,
Big reputation, big reputation, oh you and me, we got big reputations.
At that, we both giggled over but the realization hit me like a Slade.
"Now what?"
"Um, you mean?"
"What do I have to do now?"
"It's a party going on. You party, of course."
"Yeah, but...what do I do as partying?" I whispered out the last bits, abashed at how that was the first time I went to a party, knowing exactly nothing about what teenagers do.
"Apart from drinking and dancing? I mean, don't they have anything fun than these? These are just boring and irrational." I muttered.
"Why? Haven't you been to a party before? Oh wait, you didn't."
I avoided eye contact as possible and decided to leave there due to the lack of actual, logical productivity. So that was the all fun in partying.
"Why don't I give a legendary fun tinge into this boring party you think of? Trust me, you will remember this first time for the rest of your life."
