Chapter-17

In the mid of night, I woke up several times, each time seeing the blade submerge into my chest. Finally with morning on the view, I arised and took a more definite look of where I was.  It was a barenial house with well-appointed yet mediavel styled, auburn coloured rooms, with beautiful candles placed on here and there.

As the sunlight carved itself through the windows, I determined to waken my mates including my grandma. It was like my questions could burst anytime.

"Morning and sunshine! Let's see what today desires to bring!" Clay stretched his arms, uttering his words sarcastically.

We greeted each other normally, just when Austin came up to me and exagerrated some sort of concern, "Why aren't you lying on the bed and resting? And why did you had to get to act as a heroine unnecesarily? You have to-"

"It's because her best friend is still alive to take care of her." Clay came forwarded, somehow pestered by Austin's unexpected apprehension.

"Oh please Clay. You don't own her to get jealous for such a small act."

"As if any of these feelings even matter for you Kennedy." Both of them would've commence a brawl if grandma had not interrupted, "Quiet down kids. For now you all have to encounter a whole range of certain trainings."

"Wait- training?" Joey approached her.

"Yes sweet-pies. I know this is a first and far more tough, but now that your safety is threatened with perils, you need preparations."

"As in kicking butts and throwing off knifes and ninja stars?" Joey further questioned.

"Uh--partly. But listen attentively. Now you give- are personages of different ranks among which Rebecca - my darling, you are a most crucial mortal- in horrendous jeopardy."

Other than her declaration, I wanted to inquire her about - I wasn't aware but yeah- everything. Nevertheless I held them captive within and concentrated on what she said further, "What exactly are you implying on, gran- Organa?"

"Oh sweetpea-" she gave a sympathic look, before wrapping her arms around me, "I may have been gone for a while but that doesn't change our relationship, my lovely granddaughter. I know I have thousands of things to play catch-up but only after we have defeated this wretched darkness, the doomsday of mortals. And what I'm implying on is that the ones connected with each of the six spirits - mislay their safety according to the prophecies. To arise and conquer they need something from the spirits, as well as their partners- which are you guys. And  as a first step, they need to vanquish all of you."

"But where is the sixth person.? We are only five."

"Travis has two, to say. So obviously we are full." Joey defended, and grandma then clapped her hands, snatching out attention.

"So without any further ado, I seek to commence our training session, right after breakfast. Affirmed?"

"Uh you will train us? Like aren't you above 80....?" Clay questioned but that only made her smirk, "Age is just a number, child."

With a graceful spin, she executed a frontflip and swiftly brought her leg down, delivering a forceful kick that sent Clay crashing to the ground. We were astonished by her skills, and before we could ask about them, Clay managed to rise and quipped, "And I thought age was just letters."

-

She unjarred an ancient, enormous gate and a tough view was witnessed. Our jaws stayed opened as we forwarded towards the dynamic environment of the training room. To say it was the typical gym room with bludgeons and jumping ropes was an understatement.

From the corner of the room to the middle, the entrance to the exit , it looked totally the gentle abode of premordic swords, maces, literal ninga batman stars, including punching bags and indoor racing arena with unimaginable hindrances. Even picturing the future myself just near whacking in the training session with my own damn grandmother made me give gulps in horror.

"And that's just the beginning." Casper scoffed underneath his breath and I pouted in offense.

Once again, grandma clapped her hands and stated, "Each of you are ought to take your own weapons, not just by beauty but with sentiments. And from here- instigates your options. "

She swarmed aside, revealing analogous stone tables above which were displayed weapons of various kinds- ones that made our eyes shimmer with its disclosure.

"These are the ones we saw in that library. How come they're here?" I asked.

"Darling those were just the copy of the origins. Now start off!" Once more, she applauded by striking her palms together beside her face.

Thrilled with their fate, the four rushed to get those beautiful tools in their touch while my thoughts were focused on that blade that I first used to hit Lucas.

Each of them took their own weapons: Clay chose a colossal glowing warhammer, Austin's hands contentedly held a gladius sword which could multiply, to be controlled by Austin's wills since he was its master;  and quite shocked, Travis was seemed to choose a bow-arrow pack leaving Joey with a dire flail; haughtily she swung it around for a stunt, eventually throwing it towards Clay and as a reflex action, he raised his hammer to block the prompt attack.

"What type of foolishness do you possess?" Clay exclaimed exaggeratively and Joey forced a guitly chuckle.

As I stood alone, deciding which weapon to choose, my gaze fell upon a distant sword. With great excitement, I proceeded towards it and grasped it in my hands, feeling a sense of tranquility in my mind.

"It disappeared when I hit it towards Lucas."

"It chose you, like Casper. So you won't be able to get rid of it so easily. And so it seems like we are ready."

"Not at all." Travis said under his breath but grandma gracefully ignored the whispers.

"Ahem. We'll start with shooting like baricade with each of your weapons. First lesson will be only about getting your weapons in your control and under your will."

To put it mildly, describing our ability to control our weapons effortlessly, as if they were our pets, in a mere minute is an extreme understatement.

The situation commenced as Clay grasped the hammer and attempted to swing it, but its heaviness hindered him from raising it beyond his chest. After a hard-hitting strength training, Clay rested his upper body on his knees and puffed out.

One by one we chipped in the controlment preparation but success was scarce: either Joey's distractions kept her will unfocused on her movements with her dire flail or Travis's bow wouldn't just be in his touch. Austin's sword fighting skills lacked and regretfully I missed my shots quite often and to be honest, my will and order was depleted. Particularly during times when I experienced intense pain in my chest.

Each of our adrelines were drained out and we were dead on our feet, as to swearing that there were serious eyebags and droopy eyelids. Sweat and deep breaths encircled us physically. And our first day simply proved we were hopeless.

"Oh nowadays teenagers!" Grandma facepalmed herself before declaring, "Listen up, weaklings! The best view comes only after the hardest climb. So don't lose hope yet. At least not until... never mind. For now, class dismissed. And yes, your spirits will guide you to your home's location so now poof."
