IN ANOTHER LIFE
In another life, I would make you stay.

Jimin quickly strapped on his shoes. He pulled his trench coat over his shivering body as he made his way out of the apartment.
He had done it. He finally broke up with Maya. And now he was running to where his heart was calling him.
Hana.
His heart pounded. A genuine smile grazed his features for the first time in weeks.
He ran and ran.
Once the familiar dark blue painted building entered his vision, he couldn't control himself anymore.
"Hana, open the door!"
His fist thumped on the wood as he stood impatiently. He couldn't wait.
The door finally opened and out a came an exhausted Hana. It was the early hours of morning. She seemed like she had finally gotten some sleep. But all grogginess was forgotten as soon as Hana saw who had come to visit her.
"Jimin?" her voice wavered.
Jimin's fingers reached out to hold her hands. His senses overriding him. Her touch felt like medicine.
"I'm sorry, Hana. I made a mistake. I've never stopped loving you. I never meant to hurt you."
Hana had tears in her eyes. Her hand in his. She was aching to get closer to him.
"You really did hurt me."
"I know, but please. I need you. One more chance and I won't screw it up."
Hana didn't want to contemplate about it. She needed him and he needed her.
"Of course, I'll take you back."
Jimin didn't know he was crying until now. His arms finally embraced her as the life in him kicked back in. He let out a sigh of relief.
Everything was going to be okay. His Hana was back in his arms.
Jimin felt happy. He did exactly what he wanted to do.
He felt content because this was exactly what he would do in another life.
In another life, Jimin and Hana would have their happily ever after. In another life, he would go after her and fight for her.
Jimin remained still on his bed. His stare fixed on the ceiling above.
In another life, he would never allow himself to make the same mistake.
But not in this life.
In this life, he did make a stupid mistake. In this life, he wouldn't go after her.
Because that would only hurt her even more.
She needed to heal. She didn't need him to make things anymore worse.
In this life, he would leave her be. He would give her a break.
And he would come to terms with it. He would be okay.
But for now, he will send her a letter. A letter telling her everything he felt. Everything he had learned because of her.
A letter that won't beg for another chance.
A letter that finally said goodbye.

"You still keep cassettes? How old are you?"
Jimin snickered at his girlfriend's snarky remark.
"Yeah, make fun of me all you want. I'm still keeping it."
"Why?"
"My mom gave it to me," he replied.
Hana smiled at the mention of his mother. Her finders fiddled with the cassette tape.
"Why did your mom give it to you?"
"She told me it worked wonders for her relationship with dad. She wanted me to have that similar luck."
Hana looked at him playfully as her brows scrunched in confusion.
"What's in the tape?"
Jimin slowly grinned to himself. "Put it in. See for yourself."
Hana didn't argue. She still wore a quizzical look as she pushed the cassette in.
What was he on about?
Soft melody suddenly took over the atmosphere. Music notes floating in the air.
'Blue jean baby, L.A. lady, seamstress for the band'
Hana's eyes softened as she turned back to look at him. His intense gaze fell on her and only her. She was speechless.
With gradual steps, toes moving to the rhythm, Jimin approached Hana and held out his hand.
"Dance with me, darling."
Hana never really liked cliche and overdone gestures. But for Jimin, she would do anything.
She took his hand and brought her body closer her to his. Hands on his shoulders and his on her waist. She fit perfectly in his arms.
They stared into each other's eyes for eternity.
Their close proximity and mixed breathing only made them want to get closer.
Their lips molded perfectly together.
Eyes closed.
Staggered breathing.
Hearts beating as one.
'But oh how it feels so real.
Lying here with no one near
Only you and you can hear me.'
"I love you," Jimin whispered in between their lips.
"I love you too, Jimin."

A/N:
My heart feels heavy all of a sudden.
To clear confusion, italicized font means it happened in the past. Technically present Jimin is reminiscing the good times. And no, Jimin and Hana didn't get back together.
