"You got another flight delay?" Luke winced at the screeching voice that came through the speaker of his cell phone, physically pulling the machine away from his ear to clear out the faint ringing in his head. Sighing, he pulled it back to his ear so he could respond.
"Yes, Leia. Except this time I've been moved to a different plane, the other one got stuck due to the storm so the only other available one is this one," Luke said while looking up at the blinking blue boarding screen, "which leaves at seven o'clock."
"Seven!?"
"Leia, it'll be fine, it's just a few more hours."
"Luke, your flight was scheduled to leave at one-thirty. I've been sitting at this airport for 20 minutes now thinking you would be here at four."
Luke bit his lip in guilt as he spared a glance at his watch and saw the numbers read back to him a blinking red 4:25.
"I know. I'm sorry, but there's nothing I can do unless you want me to fly the plane myself."
"Worth a shot," Leia grumbled, her voice getting more and more annoyed as the seconds ticked by.
He laughed at his sister just as he pulled up to the waiting area beside his new boarding gate along with a group of other disgruntled people who were decidedly just as pissed as his sister about the delay. Bags of luggage bigger than Luke himself sat stacked by people, the desk clerk worked frantically to ease a shouting mother who carried two wailing infants, and a good amount of people had found comfort in the firm plastic chairs of the waiting room as they snored obliviously on. Luke loved flying, but he sure hated airports.
"God it sounds like hell over there, you sure you're alright?" Leia's voice changed from frustrated to concerned in an instant, making Luke roll his eyes as he placed his suitcase upright by his feet and used the top as a footrest. The chair was far from comfortable, but it would have to do.
"I'll be fine. I'll keep texting you updates if it makes you feel better too, hmm?" Luke asked, a teasing grin in his tone. Leia scoffed over the line, a faint curse leaving her mouth in the background as she no doubt stuck a middle finger up at the driver in front of her.
"That sounds great Luke. I'm gonna go find a place to eat, hopefully navigate my way out of this chaos—oh come on asshole, it's a no stop zone, keep it moving!—and i'm gonna pray that you don't get another delay. The storm isn't even that bad, really, just some rain, don't know why they won't fly—oh fuck off, i'm going!—up here."
Luke bit back a smile and shook his head. "Well hopefully I'll see you by 9ish?"
"One can only hope."
"Love you, sis," Luke said, knowing that his twin was distracted enough as it was while driving. The last thing he wanted was her crashing.
"Love you too little bro. Text me!"
The call beeped in its end before Luke could retaliate that they were twins, but he knew Leia would always tease him about it no matter what. Besides, Leia was like his older sister in a way even if their mother insisted that he had been born first.
Luke clicked his phone off and placed it in his lap before reaching over towards his bag and pulling out a book to read. He had never been more grateful that he had brought it along with him, particularly because he had a horrible feeling that he'd be texting Leia about yet another delay in his flight schedule.
Time eased by slowly and Luke had made it through a good few pages before his fears had been confirmed. The stressed out clerk who had been standing by the gate earlier and dealing with the angry mom was now accompanied by another employee who looked just as nervous. Her voice over the speakers was dull as she announced that the flight had been delayed to leave at nine as opposed to seven. Collected groans sounded around the room and several more people went up to confront the clerk, each of them waving their boarding passes frantically and speaking in rushed tones as the clerks attempted to calm them. Luke sighed and bookmarked his page before reaching towards his phone.
Luke sighed and was about to close his phone just when a man carrying a large suitcase and wearing a backpack came stumbling into the waiting area with a frown. He sat down on the chair directly in front of Luke and began haphazardly rummaging through his stuff, a few curses under his breath as he grew more and more agitated. He finally found what he was looking for and slumped in evident relief, his crinkled boarding pass materializing from his disorganized bag and appearing in his hand. Luke, on the other hand, had been struck still.
Oh fuck her.
With a deep breath, Luke quickly clicked the camera icon and attempted the most un-stealthy position to make it look like he was simply taking a picture of himself and not the stranger in front of him. Swallowing tightly and feeling as if the room had gotten decidedly hotter, Luke almost pressed the button before he paused. Swearing, he quickly flicked off the sound and mentally patted himself on the back for remembering the awkward shutter sound that his phone made while on ring. Now, as the man was distracted with his own phone and not looking in Luke's direction, Luke took his chance.
He pressed the button.
The picture took.
The flash was on.
Several heads turned towards the light and a brief silence fell over the room. Luke swore he lost all of his color as he froze in the position he was in, his phone still aimed in picture-taking mode at the stranger.
The stranger who was now staring at him.
"Uh...heh heh. Oops," Luke choked out, sweat beginning to form on his temple.
Everyone around him lost interest in less than a second, but the hot stranger still continued to look at Luke inquisitively, one eyebrow cocked in confusion. "Did you just...take a picture of me?"
"Accidentally!" Luke cried, his arm jerking instinctively and tossing the phone down into his lap so he could stop looking like a creepy idiot.
There was more silence before the man simply laughed, the crinkle lines by his eyes making Luke melt. God, he was cute.
"Well I don't know whether to be flattered or weirded out," The man chuckled, smiling genuinely.
Luke relaxed slightly, but he could still feel his entire body quivering in his embarrassment, his face no doubt still beet red as well. When the man held out his hand, Luke blinked for a moment, confused and unable to form words.
"I'm Han. You?"
Blink.
"Uh...Luke. I'm Luke." A pause. "So which one are you?"
"Which...one am I?" Han asked slowly, his forehead scrunching in confusion and his hand pulling back as he realized Luke was too distracted to know to shake it.
"Flattered or weirded out?"
"Oh!" Han laughed, waving his hand, "Well I guess it depends on what the picture looks like and what you plan on using it for."
Luke thought back to his sister who was no doubt still texting him demanding a picture. Probably accusing him of making up a fake cute guy just so he could keep up a conversation in his boredom. "I...um...my sister...we were texting...and she wanted a picture...of...uh...the waiting area...to see how busy..."
"The waiting area, huh?" Han inquired with a teasing smirk.
"Yep," Luke squeaked unconvincingly
Han shook his head, amused. "Well Luke, feel free to send your sister all the pictures of the 'waiting area' that you want. Just make sure that flash is off next time, huh?"
Luke nodded dumbly, his lips twitching in to what he hoped was a smile as the man went back to his phone without another word.
Once he realized he was in the clear, Luke scrambled to pick up his phone and sent the picture with the caption:
Luke was seconds away from responding back to his irksome twin sister before a light flashed before his eyes and startled him enough to drop his phone and look up in alarm.
His blue eyes widened as he saw Han sitting there with a smirk, his phone held up in the picture-taking position and his flash on.
"That's the proper way to get someone's attention, right?" He said with with a wink.

It was eleven o'clock at night and Leia Skywalker had still not received a text from her brother about the plane landing. Starting to panic, Leia grabbed her keys and darted towards her car, planning to march straight in to the airport and demand that her brother be located. However, just as she slid the key into ignition, her phone dinged.
