Wedding Plans

Sorry it's a little short! Enjoy :)

9-year-old Eliza plopped herself down on her bed. She opened her favorite journal, it was blue and had multiple ocean waves that her best friend Theodosia expertly drew on it. Her BFB (Best Friend Boy), Alexander, watched her open the journal intently from Eliza's black bean bag chair that he was currently sitting on. Eliza's mother and his mother were chatting away downstairs, probably discussing the newest The Bachelorette season. The young girl flipped to a blank page and reached over to grab her rainbow pen from her nightstand.

"Ok," She began, pressing the tip of the pen to her mouth. "How should the wedding start?"

"I think that that we should start by you walking in." Alex replied. Eliza made a "no duh" face and continued on.

"Well, yeah! Obviously! But like, who should we like, invite, silly goose?" She asked him.

"We should invite....Darth Vader!" He exclaimed, waving his pencil around like it was his own lightsaber. Eliza hastily wrote down Darth Vader at the top of her page. She thought deeply before gasping and jotting another person down.

"What? Who'd you write down?" Alexander asked, craning his neck to get a view of the journal.

"Twilight Sparkle!" She told him. "Oh! And we should invite Pinkie Pie!" She messily wrote down Pinkie Pie on the paper. Alexander made a face.

"Too girly! We should invite Optimus Prime, instead."

"That colorful truck? How would we fit him into the church?" Eliza fired at him. Alexander thought for a moment. He shook his head.

"We can cut out the roof!" He suggested. Eliza facepalmed. "What? It's a good idea!" Alexander defended himself.

"Whatever, should we invite Iron Man?" Eliza asked Alexander, who enthusiastically nodded.

"Oh, and we should invite your sisters and brothers and cousins!" Alexander pointed out. Eliza nodded as she hastily wrote down everyone in her journal.

"We should invite your half-brother too, and your mom and dad." She told him. Alexander looked down.

"Maybe not my dad.." His voice trailed off. Eliza took no notice of his expression and scratched out Alexander's dad.

"Okay then. We have Darth Vader, Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, Iron Man, Angelica, Peggy, Cornelia, John, Philip, Kitty,.. Henry, mama, daddy, Ms. Faucette, James...and that's it." She read the list out loud.

"That's not a lot of people!" Alexander protested. Eliza handed him the journal and her pen.

"Alright. We should invite the Avengers too, but not the new ones. So Captain America, The Hulk, Black Widow, Thor, and Hawkeye." He sloppily wrote down their names.

"What about Loki?"

"What about him?"

"We should invite him too!" Eliza protested. Alex reluctantly wrote down Loki below Hawkeye.

"Wait, we can't invite The Hulk!" She told him. "He'd wreck the place!"

"No, he'd be in his boring scientist state."

"Oh, okay! Ooh! We should invite Cinderella and Snow White!" She exclaimed.

"No." Alex responded quickly.

"Hey, why not?" Eliza pouted.

"If I don't get Optimus Prime, you don't get your princesses."

"Ughhh fine!" Eliza groaned. "You can invite Optimus Prime, but he has to be outside and watching a video of it!" Alexander nodded, noting that in the corner. Alexander handed the book back to Eliza.

"Okay, enough about the guests. What should we eat?" Eliza flipped to a new page.

"McDonald's." Alexander replied quickly. She nodded quickly and wrote it down.

"We should also have a salad bar for the vegetarians." Eliza suggested, knowing that her older sister Angelica decided to be a vegetarian after watching a cow documentary in her 7th grade science class.

"Oh yeah! My mom is a vegetarian." Alexander said. "What flavor of cake would we have?"

"I like lemon." Eliza smiled. Alexander, who preferred chocolate and had never actually tried lemon, nodded slowly. "Lemon it is."

"And it should be 9 layers! 9 for all of the years I've known you." He added after seeing Eliza's confused expression.

"Awww, that's perfect, Lexi!" Eliza cooed, drawing a nine layer cake at the bottom.

"It should have little flowers on it and should have rainbow frosting!" Alexander suggested, trying to think of more things Eliza would like. Eliza nodded eagerly.

"We should also have a chocolate fountain." She flipped herself upside down, the front half of her body off the bed. She looked at Alexander and giggled.

"You look like a bat." She managed to say in between laughs. Alexander laughed a bit before his eyes went wide and he groaned.

"What? What is it--ouch!" Eliza fell off the bed and onto her fuzzy carpet. She rubbed her head and crawled over to her friend.

"I just realized that I'm going to have to kiss you!" He said. Eliza made a grossed out face.

"Ew no! Then I'm gonna have a baby!" Eliza spat. Alexander looked confused.

"I thought it was when a girl and boy kiss each other naked?" He looked at Eliza.

"No, it's just when they kiss."

"Oh."

"I don't want to have a baby!" Eliza cried. "Then the doctor is going to have to cut open my stomach!"

"I think it's when the kiss lasts long. I used to see my mommy kiss my dad on the lips and she hasn't had a baby." Alexander reassured her.

"Really?" Eliza asked. Alex nodded. Eliza then looked off into space. "I wonder what it feels like."

"Like what feels like?" Alexander asked.

"To get kissed, silly goose!" She slapped him playfully on the arm.

"I don't know." He admitted. "Do you want to find out?" He asked tentatively, looking at his friend.

"Sure, why not?" She said, leaning forward to Alexander. Caught off guard, Alexander fell back and hit his head on Eliza's bookshelf.

"Owww. I don't think that's what supposed to happen." Alex moaned. Eliza helped pull him up.

"Lets try this again." She said. Eliza leaned forward and so did Alex. Their lips were barely touching when they both pulled away, spitting and wiping their mouths.

"Ew, ew, ew ewww!" Eliza yelled, wiping her lips with the back of her hand.

"Yeah, let's not do that ever again." Alexander agreed. Once they were finished sanitizing themselves, Eliza took her journal from her bed and flipped to another page.

"So, should we go to Italy on our honeym-" Eliza was cut off by her mom yelling her and Alexander's name. Eliza groaned inwardly, and Alex sighed.

"We're coming!" Eliza yelled back, not wanting to disappoint her mother. She put her journal on her desk and opened her door. Alexander got up and trudged out the door with her.

"We should go to Scotland on our honeymoon." He whispered in her ear as they went downstairs. Eliza nodded thoughtfully. "I like that idea."

"I hope you two found something to talk about." Catherine said, leaning against the wall.

"Oh yeah! We were discussing our wedding!" Eliza nodded excitedly. Rachel's eyes widened.

"Your wedding! How cute!" She nudged Catherine in the ribs, who also laughed.

"Did I hear something about a wedding?" Philip Schuyler popped his head out from his office, his eyebrows raised.

"Oh yes, honey. Alexander and your daughter are talking about their future marriage." She teased.

"Not if I have anything to do with it." Philip grumbled as he slowly retreated into his office again. Catherine shook her head and sighed. Alexander and Eliza looked at each other again and began to laugh hysterically.

"I'm glad you two had fun." Rachel said, reaching into her purse and taking out her car keys. "But Alexander, you have basketball at 5. We need to wrap things up."

Catherine and Rachel said their goodbyes and began to walk to the door, the two children slowly following them. Eliza turned to Alexander.

"Come to the park tomorrow and we can work on the wedding more." She kissed him on the cheek. Alexander nodded.

"Cya, Betsey!" He waved, following his mom out the door.

"Bye Lexi!" She called after him. As she closed the door, she realized that maybe she did actually like the kiss.

Alexander realized the same thing.
