Pull over. Let me drive.

Idea from peanutbutterchildren :):):)

Eliza watched as the sun set on another successful day. Alexander, Angie, Philip, and her were now driving back from Magic Kingdom, which had been Eliza's parents' Christmas gift to the children.

She stretched out her arms as far as she could in their cramped little car and put her Mickey ears back in her drawstring bag. She glanced in the rearview mirror, making sure that Philip and Angie were asleep. Philip had a piece of cotton candy stuck in his hair and was using the half empty bag as a pillow, while Angie was hugging her Oswald the Rabbit plush that Alex had begrudgingly got for her. Giving a satisfied little smirk at their state, she laid her head on her knuckles and tried to fall asleep as well.

The slow hum of their minivan was enough to make everyone in the car sleepy, even the driver. Eliza was a about to fall asleep when a notification on the dashboard lit up, announcing to everyone in the car that the car was veering off their lane. Her first reaction was to see if the children were awake now, which thank god they weren't. She didn't want to deal with two hyped up little kids at 10:30pm. Eliza then caught sight of her husband, who was now veering off into the left lane.

Eliza sighed, knowing full well that Alex probably got less than a few hours of sleep last night. She was wide awake and alert, while he was about to kill the family due to his insomnia.

"Pull over." She commanded him.

"Huh--what?" Alexander jolted awake.

"Pull over. Let me drive."

"I'm fine. You get some sleep."

"Alex, baby, you're gonna kill us all. Pull over and get some sleep." She replied, exasperated. Alex sighed, knowing that he needed sleep and that we was never gonna win against his wife. Reluctantly, he got off at the nearest exit and pulled into an empty parking lot across from a McDonald's. Alex unlocked the door and began to switch places with Eliza.

"Mommy what's going on?" Angie yawned. Philip stretched awake and realized that there was a piece of cotton candy in his hair, so he pulled it out and ate it.

"Your mother and I are switching places." Alexander replied. "Philip don't eat anymore sugar, please." He added after seeing Philip stuff the hair candy in his mouth. Philip grinned bashfully and apologized. Angie looked up, and her eyes lit up when she saw where the family had parked.

"Mommy, mommy!" She exclaimed when Eliza shut the driver's door. "Can we get McDonald's?" She asked. Philip realized where they where too, and began to join Angie in begging their parents for McDonald's.

"Philip, Angelica." Eliza said sharply. "We are not getting McDonald's. It's too late."

"But momma," Philip said "We're hungry!"

"Yeah!" Angie agreed. "Daddy, tell mommy we can get McDonald's!"

"Guys, if your mother said no, then she said no." Alex told the eager children. Philip's shoulders slumped and Angie began to cry. Alexander sighed and looked at Eliza. Eliza pinched the bridge of her nose.

"Fine." She sighed, pulling into the drive-thru. Angie magically stopped crying and Philip's perked up.

"Thank you mommy!" Angie grinned.

Once the meals were distributed and eaten, they were back on the road again. Philip and Angie had soon fell asleep again, and so did Alex. Eliza would occasionally glance over at the man to make sure he truly was asleep. She would smile when he saw him snoring with his head leaning against the dashboard, his Mickey ears about to fall off.

An hour later, when the family was 30 minutes away from their house, Eliza started to fall asleep. She began to relax, causing the car to slow drastically. Nobody in the car noticed until the car behind them honked their horn, startling the entire family awake.

This caused Eliza to floor the gas pedal, in which the entire family lurched backwards. Angie screamed and began to cry, while Alexander inhaled a breath so sharply that he began to cough uncontrollably. Philip's cotton candy pillow dropped, as did the McDonald's bag that was being used as a trash bag, causing a open honey mustard packet to spill all over the carpeted floor. Eliza finally slowed the car from 105 mph to 75 mph. Alexander looked at his wife and took a sip of his now cold McDonald's coffee.

"Holy. Shit." Philip exclaimed, his face wide eyed with terror.

"Philip! Don't say that!" Eliza scolded them, although she was thinking that herself.

Alexander stayed quiet, but he was still shaking. Angie was still sobbing uncontrollably.

"Oh shoot. The honey mustard." Philip looked down at his feet to see the honey mustard. "Dad, can we have a wipe?"

"After all of that, and you're asking for a wipe?" Alexander asked his 9-year-old son. Philip shrugged.

"The mustard spilt."

"Oh, lovely." Alexander muttered while handing him a wipe. Angie's loud sobs turned into little sniffles as she clutched onto her plushie. Alexander held out his hand to her, and she gladly took it. Alexander turned to his wife.

"Eliza. Pull over." He told her.

"Why?"

"Let me drive."
