"Hi Alex!" Eliza was grinning. She had on a white dress and was holding her hands clasped together behind her.
"Hi Eliza!" Alex was giddy, it was his birthday tomorrow and he was having a party!
"So as you know I can't make it tomorrow. Or Peggy. We're going to this fancy tea thing at my papa's work, he's like a bwusiness man or somethin'. Angie can be there though..."
"Yeah I know. Tell Angelica I'm psyched!" Alex threw a fist in the air in an act of excitement.
John Laurens, who was standing behind Alex cheered. "Woohoo!"
Eliza looked away, then snapped her head back. "But I have two things to say."
"Oh?" Alex raised his eyebrows, his smile still plastered to his face.
"Number wun." She still struggled pronouncing her numbers, and other words. She took in a deep breath. "My papa, he'd like to invite you to our house for a playdate on Toosday next week. Kanya come?"
"That'd be great!" Alex had dreamed of playing with Angelica at Angelica's house. And Eliza.
"Yeah, It'd have to be over by five though because that's when I go and join Angie at Piano class." Eliza couldn't speak English perfectly, but she was fluent in instruments.
"Wait- Angelica won't be there Tuesday?" Alex asked.
"No, sowwy." She was trying to suppress a smile because she'd have Alex all to herself. And Peggy. She'd be there too.
"Don't be! Spending time with you is just as spectacular!" Alex was back in his happy mode. 
"And number two!" Eliza almost shrieked.

"Go on!" Alex shimmied slightly in excitement.
Eliza brought her hands out, the was a purple lump of wrapping paper in her hands. "It's your present." She watched as he stared at the present and took it in his hands."The present isn't actually pwurple."
Then Alex opened it. "It's a- stuffed animal?"
"His name is Philip! He means a great deal to me, he's my favorite stuffed animal. I want you to have him! And the outfit is courtesy of Peggy."
Alex smiled at the Elephant wearing a small button down shirt, a sailors hat and a blue cape. Then he hugged Eliza.

"Thank you so much! It's the perfect present!" He murmured in her ear. 

Eliza's cheeks burned red hours after the hug. She would later go home and brag to Angelica about it for hours.
