A.C.W.
Alex held his little sister in his arms, frowning. Martha noticed the frown. She had been worried that this would happen, Alex feeling replaced by his little sister. "Sweetheart?" She cooed, Alex lifted his gaze from her.
"Yes Mommy?" He asked, as he gently rocked Annabeth in his arms.
Martha propped herself up in the hospital bed. "What's wrong sweetheart? I can tell something is bothering you."
"Oh. That..." Alex took in a collective sigh. Here it comes. Martha thought to herself. "I'm just sad that Anna can't come home yet."
Martha grinned. It wasn't as bad as she thought. "Oh honey!" She exclaimed. "Annabeth with be able to come home with you tomorrow!"
"Annabeth Clarissa Washington." Lafayette murmured from the corner of the room. "My little sister. My soeur."
"Mine too!" Alex giggled, watching Anna's chest rise and fall with each breath she took. He looked up at his mom. "Where's dad again?"
"He got called into work and had to drop you here..." Martha responded for the fifth time within the hour.
"Right, I forget he's a subsisuite teacher." Laf couldn't quite pronounce the world correctly, but Alex and Martha understood.
"Yep, but next year we'll be in Kindergarten and all will be swell!" Alex giggled.
Martha smiled. The boys had three months left of PreK and Alex had been looking forwards to Kindergarten since he learned that they'd have vocab words. Lafayette pouted. "Except we won't get Mr.Miranda anymore."
"Did nobody tell you?" Martha asked the boys, who looked at her quizzically. "Mr.Miranda is getting transferred with you to kindergarten! All of you will be together!" Martha explained lovingly, she smiled.
There was a loud cry from Alex's arms and he looked down at the pink bundle that contained his sister. He handed Anna to Martha, still smiling. "It's okay Anna." He whispered. "I'll always be here for you." He kissed her forehead as Martha took her from him.
