Soup Days part dos (James Madison X Reader)

WARNING: Horribly written crap.

PAIRING: James Madison X Reader

REQUEST: NONE HAHAHAH

PROMPT: "Can I hold your hand?" I don't know what number that is, and honestly I am too lazy to check.

(A/N: Here is part two! I have no idea why I named this "Soup Days." Out of anything in the world, I chose "Soup Days. Wow. I really wanted to write this, but lost my momentum about three sentences in, so I'm apologize for the lack of good quality story-ness in this one shot)

Y/N stared at the new text on her phone with excitement. After a moment of pure glee and joyful anticipation, she quickly dialed in Thomas' number and listened to the phone ring.

"Hello?"

"Thomas!! I have something very exciting to share!"

"What's up? Are you pregnant?" he asked sarcastically.

"Aw, shut up. I guess you just don't want me to tell you..." she trailed off.

"Ok, suit yourself." After a few seconds of pain, Y/N broke. He knew her too well.

"DO YOU WANT TO GO TO SIX FLAGS?!" she (slightly) screamed into the phone.

Silence on the other side. "...explain."

"My 'friend' found some super cheap deal, as long as we get ten people. He said I could invite two friends, so I thought maybe you and James would like to come!"

"No offense, but you just met James, and now you are inviting him to Six Flags? And who is this 'friend?"

"Number one, I have no other friends, and number two, I just need to know whether you're in or not. It's this Tuesday."

"That's tomorrow!"

"Exactly. That's why I need to know now."

"One sec, let me ask James." Thomas turned around to face his friend who was listening to Thomas eagerly. "Ask me what?" "Jimmy, would you like to go to Six Flags tomorrow? Y/N will be there," he added teasingly.

"Shut your face. And yeah, I'd like to go," he told his friend, his cheeks tinged pink. Thomas put the phone back to his ear and said, "Alright, we're in." He had to hold the device away from his ear for a second while Y/N let out a loud excited squeal from her side.

"Wait, Y/N, who is the 'friend?" he asked. "Um, it's just Alex, see you tomorrow! I'll pick you up from your place at 7 am," she rapidly said before hanging up. "What?!" Thomas exclaimed, but it was too late. He was gonna spend the entire next day with Alexander Hamilton.

~~~
The next day went well. Thomas and Alex didn't kill each other, James didn't get sick, and everybody was pretty happy and satisfied (A/N: Except for Angelica, am I right? Ok, I'm sorry...)
It was towards the end of the day when it was just Thomas, James, and Y/N. Alex and Eliza were off walking somewhere, Hercules and Peggy were off getting some food, and Angelica, Maria, and George were waiting in the super long line for the Ferris wheel.
Y/N gasped when she saw the short line for the new roller coaster. Jumping up and down like a little kid, she happily exclaimed, "Let's go on the Hurricane! The line is super short!" James stood still hesitantly, saying, "I don't know, maybe-" "That sounds great!" Thomas said, cutting off James. He pushed the nervous Jemmy into the line.
After waiting for just a few minutes, they were nearing the ride. Y/N bent down to tie her shoe when a lady who worked their walked back in the line. "Anyone here willing to ride alone?" Thomas instantly volunteered, turning and winking at James when Y/N couldn't see. "Thomas, are you sure-" but it was too late. Jefferson was already in the front of the line boarding a cart.
"Well, I guess it's just you and me, James," Y/N said, smiling that warm smile that melted James every time. He bit his lip and nodded, looking away nervously. Come on, Jimmy, think of something to say, he frantically thought.
"Oh, uh, I n-never thanked you for the, uh, s-soup. It was really good," he said shyly, looking her in the eye. Her face lit up when he said that, and she thanked him, "I'm glad you liked it. I'm usually not the best cook so that's good news." She was about to say something else when they realized they were at the front of the line. The little gates opened, and the two boarded the cart.
Y/N was practically bouncing with excitement in her seat as she pulled down the lap bar, but James was looking around nervously. He was definitely not the biggest fan of roller coasters. He turned towards Y/N and ever so softly asked, "C-can...can I hold y-your h-hand?"
She laughed, not a "making-fun-of-your-stupidity-and-cowardice" laugh, but just a really "happy-to-be-in-this-moment" laugh. She only had time to grab his hand before the cart shot off down the track.
Y/N was grinning the whole time, purely ecstatic, and not just because of the ride. She loved how James' grip on her hand got tighter every time the g-force was extra strong, and how he quietly laughed after a while. Finally, the cart slowed down and a very frazzled-but-smiling Y/N and James walked out of the exit.
"That w-was...that was actually pretty f-fun," he said, smiling widely as they approached Thomas. Y/N goofily laughed in agreement while Thomas approached the two. He smirked at the two and Y/N realized she never released James' hand. She instantly let go and felt her face heat up, but she was still grinning.
Thomas smiled at James slyly, and asked, "So, what'd I miss?" "Oh, shut your pie hole, Thomas," Y/N said. He held up his hands in surrender and innocently stated, "Alright, I'm sorry, I was just asking a question. Where do you two want to head next?"
"Well, I'm k-kind of hungry," James spoke up quietly. "Good idea Jemmy. Come along, you little love birds," Jefferson said teasingly, resulting in James looking down in embarrassment. Y/N noticed, and reached down and firmly grabbed James' hand, staring defiantly at the shocked and amused Thomas as if to dare him to say something. James' face was beet red, but he couldn't help but feel a little giddy as he held her hand.
The three got some dinner and met up with the others, and soon the park was closed and they all headed home. Washington drove them all home, and Y/N was the second to last drop-off. She was unlocking her door to the apartment when James jumped out of the car and hurried over to her.
"I'm sorry, Y/N, but, uh, I-I was w-wondering if, um, m-maybe, I mean y-you don't have to, but," James stuttered, so nervous he caused himself to start coughing. "Actually, I have a question for you," she cut him off. She handed him a slip of paper and nervously wrung her hands as she asked, "Here's my phone number. It'd be fun to go out with you sometime..."
She noticed his shocked face and quickly added, "That is, it you would like to, of course. No pressure." He only nodded in response and once he finally got a hold of himself, he shyly agreed, "No, I mean y-yes, that w-would be fun! See you a-around, I-I guess."
He backed away and felt his heart melt as she smiled at him, before entering the apartment building. He held his chest since he felt like he was going to have a heart attack. But a happy heart attack. He entered the car to be greeted by a victorious looking Thomas, and James felt pretty victorious himself.
(A/N: I'm actually considering doing a part three, so yep. You've been warned.)
