"One minute left on the clock, y/n!"

Lafayette poked his head into the kitchen, motioning for you to join them in the living room. You nodded, finishing up the champagne you were pouring. Barely balancing the glasses, you briskly trotted into the neon-stained room. Your roommate, Alex, had decided to invite his friends over to watch the ball drop at midnight. To be honest, you were glad to have some company-most of the time, Alex was hunched over his desk, writing away at some college essay.

"Alcohol!" John winked at you as he swiped a glass from your hand. "Didn't know you had it in you!" You stuck your tongue out in response,  earning a small chuckle from the rest of the guys.

"Thirty seconds!" Lafayette grabbed your and John's arm, tugging you towards the couch. You didn't need a TV, as your window provided a perfect view of the crystal ball. You scooted in between Alex and Hercules, a drink clutched in your hand. It was weird that Alex was so quiet this evening. He barely made eye contact with you, and his face was tinted with red.

"Alex?" You asked. "Are you sick?"

"Wha-No, I'm fine..." He mumbled, his gaze trained towards the floor. You shot a questioning glance towards Hercules, who just shrugged.

"Three!"

"Two!"

"ONE!"

Three kisses pressed against your cheek, causing you to giggle uncontrollably. You swatted at their faces, trying to drive away your midnight kissers.

"Guys!" You hissed, your face a light crimson. "What the hell-" Your air was cut off as something soft crashed against your lips, ceasing your complaint. Collective shouts and hollers rose into the air around you, but you weren't focused on that. The kiss had now become more passionate, your mouths now locked in a tight embrace.

"Ok, ok, that's enough!" As your mystery kisser was pulled away from you, your e/c met with a pair of brown ones.

"Alex..." You gasped. "Alex!" Your roommate stood sheepishly before you, his had scratching the back of his neck. Lad had an arm roped around Alex's shoulder, while John and Hercules were hollering at him, jumping up and down like two little schoolgirls.

"Finally, bro!" John whooped as he punched his hands in the air. "I thought you'd never do it!"

"Alex, I didn't know you-" You stammered. You had always felt something for your roommate, but was too afraid to ask. Besides, he seemed interested in Eliza, and you didn't want to get involved with that.

"Well, Y/N, I was just waiting for the right moment." Alex chuckled. "Besides, I didn't know you had it in you!"
