Early Life
Leslie was born in New York and grew up in Philadelphia. He went to Carnegie Mellon University in Pennsylvania. After graduating, he moved to Los Angeles in 2003.

Career
As a teenager, Leslie was a singer and studied musical theatre in college. He made his Broadway debut at the age of 17, as 'Paul' in Rent. In 2012, he appeared in Leap of Faith.

His tv debut was in The Big House (2004). He also made a debut in Bombshell in Concert. He also been in Smash and Gilmore Girls.

Leslie first worked with Lin-Manuel Miranda in the Encores! Off-center production of Tick, Tick....Boom! playing the part of Michael.

He has been nominated for the 2015 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical for his role of Aaron Burr in the Off-Broadway production of Hamilton. He continued playing Burr on Broadway.

For his role of Aaron Burr, he was awarded Best Lead Actor in a Musical at the 70th Tony Awards. He also has made an album of his music, which was released in June 2016.

Leslie took his final bow alongside his fellow cast members on July 9th, 2016. He reportedly plans to work on his music, on his time away from Hamilton.
