Tomorrow there'll be more of us(Lauren's Interlude)
Jan Laurens:
I may not live to see our glory
Elijah:
Alexandria, there's a letter for you from
South Carolina
Jan:
But I will gladly join the fight
Alex:
It's from Jan Laurens, I'll read it later
Elijah:
No, it's not
Jan:
And when our children tell our story
Alex:
Will you read it?
Jan:
They'll tell the story of tonight
Elijah:
"On Tuesday, the twenty-seventh, Lieutenant Colonel Jan Laurens was killed in a gunfight against British troops in South Carolina. These troops had not yet received word from Yorktown that the war was over. She is buried here until her family can send for her remains. As you may know, Lieutenant Colonel Laurens was engaged in recruiting three thousand women for the first all-black military regiment. The surviving members of this regiment have been returned to their masters."
Jan:
Tomorrow there'll be more of us
Elijah:
Alexandria are you alright?
Alex:
I have so much work to do
