Laurens POV-
I hated to leave Alex alone in the tent. But I had to. He was sick the day before and had to heal up.

I was busy the whole day. Washington let me fill in for Alex. He didn't know it and it should stay that way. No wonder why he got sick from overworking. I don't understand how he handles this 'right hand man' shit. But the day is finally over. And I get to rest now. And check up on Alex.

I make it to the camp and I bend down to go in the tent. But that was when I heard crying. I immediately go into the tent when I see Alex curled up in a ball. He looks up at me. Smiles. And latches onto me.

"I- Alex w-what happened-"

He didn't answer. Hugging me tighter.

"Come on Alex, tell me..."

"Y-you left J-Jack..." (he used to call him Jack irl btw)

"I could have stayed, you should have said something..."

He shook his head and let go and looked down.

"Want to go down town and get some drinks?"

He looks up and nods.

"It's on me Jack," Alex replied laughing and I laugh as well.

We make our way downtown and went to the bar.

Couple drinks later

"H-hey Jack..." Alex says hunched over.

He drank WAY more than me. I didn't want much, just one drink and he drank like 5-

"Yes Alex?"

"Do y-you love me?"

"Like....as a best friend?"

"No no m-more than that....l-lover...crush...whatever y-you want to call it..."

I start blushing as hell and I say.

"Yes Alex..I love you..."

"Love y-you too Jack..."
