Lafayette- Hair (c)
It was hard to ignore that your husband had a slight interest in alcohol, having come from France he had been shown to have a clear preference for alcoholic beverages, even though your preference wasn't quite the same. Usually Lafayette wasn't too bad when it came to over drinking, he knew where the line was but since befriending one Alexander Hamilton that line regularly got jumped over.
The closest bar was only around the corner to your home so it did slightly worry you how much time had passed since he had promised he would come home. Even though you were concerned you didn't wish to be a lady out in the dark of night and seen to enter a bar, it could easily ruin the reputation of your husband. The concerns soon fell away when a knock came at the front door of your home. You rushed to it, throwing caution to the wind as you flung open the door, slightly pulling at the hinges.
"Laf-" You started going to wrap your arms around your husband in delight however that wasn't what would come to pass. As soon as the door was opened you knew it wasn't the man you loved. The tall French man was nowhere to be seen. Instead a short ponytailed man stood there looking a bit tipsy but concerned nevertheless.
"Alexander! Where is my husband?" You demanded.
He gave you a sheepish smile. Although he would never admit it, he respected you and through that respect he was terrified of your reactions from what he and your husband did, especially when you and Eliza were together.
"I'm sorry-" He began but you didn't care for what he had to say if he was going to faff around the main point you required.
"I don't care Alexander," you spat. "Where is Lafayette?"
Alexander moved a hand to run through his dark hair that was beginning to fall from the ponytail that was supposed to be restraining it.
"He won't leave," he said looking down to his feet.
"What do you mean he won't leave?" You questioned.
"He may have drunk more than he should have and he is just shouting at people about his hair," the man sighed. "We can't get him out, we thought maybe you'd be able to."
Although it had never occurred before, you knew your husband well enough to know that it wasn't unlikely that he would do such a thing. You were reluctant to go and retrieve him knowing he deserved whatever came to him but you didn't want anything bad to happen to him even if he could be a bit of a twat.
"Fine," you said tired of what you had to put up with when it came to your husband. "Take me to him."
Alexander hastily led you towards the bar. As soon as you entered the room you could see the man you loved- well most of the time, now was dubious at best. Lafayette was still in his uniform, like his friends were too, however he was stood on top of one of the many tables in the room looking down to all of those around him. At the foot of the table, John and Hercules were stood there attempting to coax him down.
"Come on Laf," John called over the loudness of the bar they were in.
"No... Laurens, mon amie, do not tell me what to do," Lafayette practically yelled. "My hair is better than yours. You have no authority."
You turned to Alexander as though to question him for the behaviour of your husband.
"He's been shouting at everyone saying his hair is better than there's for the past half hour."
Letting out a sigh, you lifted the hem of your skirt to stop it from dragging in the spilt alcohol that drenched the floor. You approached your husband looking up at him, clearing your throat slightly.
Lafayette looked down at you. His smile contorted into a cheesy grin as soon as he saw you.
"Ma Cherie!" He squealed in an uncontrolled manner.
"Lafayette, please get off of the table," you frowned not wanting to cause any more of a scene than he already had.
He pouted slightly at you ruining what he probably deemed was a form of fun. "Anything for someone who's hair is comparable to mine."
As he climbed down from the table you noticed his three friends all glaring at you, as your hair had been referred to as better than theirs- wounding their egos due to how much pride they all put into it.
