My Sunshine

Requested by: jdogaweirdo

Streaks of sunlight fought their way through the curtains as morning rose. Birds began to chirp and the world began to start again.

However, most would have rather stayed asleep longer than the sunrise. Eliza found herself being one of those people, furiously hiding beneath her pillow. She begged for the sun to vanish and night to rise again.

Just as her mind drifted off again, there was a knock at her bedroom door. As the door began to open, she recognized the footsteps. "No," she muttered under her breath. Eliza turned on her side, opening her eyes to see the person.

"What do you want?"

At first, her vision was blurry and she couldn't see who was standing beside her. Her mouth felt dry as she tried to see clearly. Having been awoken only a few seconds prior, she felt dizzy and exhausted.

"You are going to get nothing accomplished in that position, Eliza." The person held out a hand for her, just as her sight became normal again. Standing in front of her, already fully dressed and smiling, was Hercules.

His hair was delicately combed and he possessed a bright smile. There was nothing that could compare to waking up to the sight of his face. Or so Eliza would think. With his energy, he managed to wash away all of her frustration of being woken.

"Well, I'd rather be in this position than in that one, to be quite honest." She gestured tiredly to his perfect posture. Hercules frowned, trying to slump down and suit her liking. He let the sleeves of his jacket fall down past his hands to make it seem less put together.

Eliza grabbed his hand. "Don't change it. You know that I'm only joking." As she pushed herself up, she repeated, "Right?"

Hercules nodded several times. He assisted her in getting out of the bed, although she didn't need his help. When her feet hit the cold wooden floor, she gasped at the sudden change in temperature. Eliza let out a groan.

He knew exactly what she wanted to do, and that was to crawl right back into the sheets. If she hadn't done it every morning, it would have been quite a plan. But since she had managed to try it every morning, he knew it was coming.

And he was right. She hesitated before flipping around and trying to break through his shield of his arms. Laughing, she tried once more to escape back to the bed. Knowing she had lost the battle, she sighed and fell into his arms.

"Eliza." Tapping her back, Hercules said her name over and over again. She had shut her eyes and attempted to fall back to sleep. He wasn't foolish enough to let her win.

"Hmm..." She murmured softly into his neck and he held back a laugh. He had to stay serious and get her completely awake.

Not wasting any more time, Hercules swooped her up in his arms. She screeched in surprise, swatting his chest. Before she could say anything, he dashed out into the parlor, exposing her to the sunshine.

Eliza buried her head into his chest, ignoring the brightness streaming into the house. Her heart pounded as he set her down on the couch, begging her to show some sign of waking up. She finally groaned, "Hercules.."

He crossed his arms and smiled. "You need to get dressed and have a meal. I'm not leaving until you have gotten prepared." She raised her eyebrow as if to say oh really.

Scratching his head, he blurted out, "Please just get ready already. You're driving me crazy." He leaned back against the wall.

Rising from the couch, Eliza yawned before saying, "Alright, alright." She leaned over and snuck a kiss onto his cheek, leaving him with a growing blush.

Although she had said she would get ready, he had forgotten how long women took to get dressed in the morning. Hercules didn't dare bother her, in fear of who knows what. He knew Eliza took her appearance very highly and wanted to look special everyday.

Just as he was about to tell her he had to leave for work, she stepped into the parlor. Hercules was lost for words. From her bedhead to her luscious locks, she had utterly began to shine in the sun. Her dress touched the ground barely, swaying at her steps.

"God, you look lovely." Hercules reached out his hand and pulled her close. Placing one hand on her cheek, when she was just close enough, he kissed her forehead.

Eliza raised her head to meet his eyes. She didn't respond, only smiled up at him. If she had gone off with another man, she had no clue of what her future would behold. Standing right in front of her was the only future she could imagine.

Lifting her hand gently, she traced the buttons on his jacket. Each had a different pattern and she guessed that he had personally sewed them on the night before. He was quite the handyman, always making things from scratch.

"I should get going now." Hercules gave her a playful little shove, but didn't push her away just then. As much as he was needed, he would have rather stayed with her for the day.

But the revolution was rising and people were constantly needed. Eliza was very supportive of his work, always telling him how much he was a vital part of the future of their country. Every little word she gave him made him feel safe.

Eliza nodded, leading him to the door. "You won't be late tonight, will you? I want to have some time with you again."

Running a hand over his hair, he murmured in reply, "I can't promise anything, dear." He kissed her hand one more time before exiting their house. As he opened the door, the sun beams extended into the hall.

Hercules gave her a smile before stepping down the front steps and heading on his way. She watched him walk all the way to the end of the street, until he vanished around a corner.

Leaning her head against the door, Eliza sighed to herself. What have I done to deserve that man? She knew she was very lucky to have him in her life.

If she didn't have such a bright, kind light with her at all times, she had no idea where she might've ended up.
