—Bruce's POV—
'As expensive and top quality Stark towers is, maybe Tony should invest in more comfortable chairs'. My restless self-sat all night, wallowed in my seemly unending discomfort ad guilt. I still seemed more comfortable than Hannah all things considered. She stirred and fidgeted and groaned in pain all night, completely oblivious to any presence in the room, including mine. I couldn't bear the thought of her being terrified of me....thinking I was the monster that everyone else knows I am. I simply fuelled the fire today. Even Tony, my best friend, was a little weary around me. Hannah had the right to be terrified of me. I had almost killed her. As she stirred, her head gently lulled over the side of the bed. I frowned slightly and gently placed my hand under her head, repositioning her head gently on the soft pillow. Her eyes suddenly opened and she inhaled a sharp breath. I instantly put my hands in the air and stepped back. Tony entered the room hastily.
"Hey, sweetheart, how you feeling?" He asked.
"A-Alright...How's Jaya?"
"She's doing fine....one of the robots bugged her....that's why she didn't fly while you were falling" He explained, gently holding her hand his. "Anyway, what's hurting kiddo?" He questioned, feeling her shoulder very gently.
"Besides everything?" She laughed quietly. I felt a pang of guilt shoot through my chest. The rest of their conversation was incoherent to me. Nothing registered in my mind besides my own self-deprecating, fiery thoughts.
'You're a monster, Bruce. You almost killed a person you loved.
Again.
This'll keep happening.
Because you're a monst-'
"Bruce! Bruce! Are you alright?!" Tony shook me, snapping me out of my seemingly endless spiral of self-hate.
"I-I-I-I u-uh" I spluttered.
"That was a pretty severe panic attack," Tony told, looking into my eyes. "I'll be back" he murmured, leaving the room. I hung my head with one hand grasping tightly at my head.
'Monster....monster....monster'
—Hannah's POV—
I gently grasped his hand and his head shot up.
"Oh my god, honey, are you alright?" He stammered, grasping my hand softly.
"I'm alright" I laughed quietly. "Don't worry abo-"
"Don't you dare say 'don't worry about me'" he frowned. I grinned sheepishly. "You deserve all my time and all my care....I'm so sorry Han....this is all my fault"
"This is not your fault, in fact, I could have quite possibly been dead without you"
"With me"
"No, without. Hulk pulled a robot off of me that bugged my suit and almost plunged a knife into my neck. The robot was clung onto my suit when hulk threw it, that's all that happened. It wasn't your fault or Jaya's, it was the robot" I explained softly, rubbing my thumb over his hand. He seemed to be a little less tense momentarily. "You are not a monster Bruce" I whispered.
"He saved me too" Tony added, entering the room. "I had a robot fly straight into my chest, almost choking me to death. Hulk snapped its head off...If it wasn't for him, my time could have been up"
"See Bruce, you are not a monster, you're an asset and an amazing man.....although the hulk is a small jerk" I smiled softly.
"Thank you" He laughed quietly.
"Sir" Jarvis interrupted. "Incoming call"
"From who?"
"Unknown, Sir"
