Wattvampires presents. . .

Hello, Darklings! The misfits at the Crypt and Belfry are happy to join this anthology. Halloween is, afterall, a most wonderful night for us vampires. It's all about pretending, and we are all tricksters at heart. We carry our semblance of humanity like you would a novelty costume, and we enjoy reeling you in, making you get a little to close. Then, the treat is ours... Isn't that how the game is played?

But Halloween is also about stories, best told at night, among friends. So we will invite you to set foot into our neighborhood. Welcome to Crimson Crescent. It's a particular place where you'll find a scary adventure behind every door.

Take a left into Elm, it's the street with the Dead End, you won't miss it, there are only four houses there, all waiting for you. Choose wisely, because you can only knock on one door...

Choose only one of the following prompts and write a 500 word story:

The main course:

You have spent the last few weeks trying to make friends with your neighbors. It's terrible being the one new face on the city's historical block. All of sudden, after days of evading your waves of hand, you receive an invitation to a Halloween Party. You are so there! Just to discover, you neighbors are vampires and there's a chance they are more interested in your rare blood-type than your acquaintance.

Let's get the party started!:

Every year, Halloween night on Elm Street is unique. Monsters from across the world visit for one night of revelry and mischief! The vampires, the werewolves, the ghosts, ghouls and banshees! All descend on on Elm Street for trick or treating! Can you imagine such a scene? What would the monsters be wearing? What would their candy be like? What would they say to one another? 

Behind the Mask:

A vampire gets to reveal their true face, either because it's Halloween so everyone will think it's special effects, or because they are revealing the truth to someone they love, or they are closing in on their prey ... there are lots of possible reasons, including seasonal ones.

Haunted Costume:

You saved all year to go to that Fashion Couture store and their Vintage Halloween extravaganza! The sales person shows you the ensemble of your dreams. A perfectly preserved late 18th century attire. It will make the perfect costume. You are very happy, however, as it turns out, the costume is haunted and wearing it has given you an unexplainable craving for fresh blood...

There you have it, Darklings! Make the blood run, no one will care, they will be happy with their world of illusions, while we wreak some havoc of our own.
