Page 1
Panel 1: A teenage boy (17) with a small Afro. He is wearing a red and black striped shirt. He is facing the audience/us with a smile on his face.
Jason: Hi, guys! How are you doing? My name is Jason Jordan, but my friends called me JJ.
Panel 2: Same panel, Jason closes his eyes and has his left hand behind his head.
Jason: October has always been my favorite month of the year. I have a story that happened to me when I was a ninth grader.
Panel 3: Same panel as panel 1.
Jason: All that I want from you guys is to understand why I did what I did.
Page 2
Panel 1: A huge light brown rectangular-shaped high school with a flagpole in front of it. The name of the school is large and on the front -- Lafayette High School. The sky is partly cloudy. There is the woods in the background. The trees have orange and yellow leaves. There are some cars parked in the parking lot.
Cap: Remember the Halloween specials you see in cartoons?
Panel 2: Inside the classroom, there are students sitting at their desks, some of them are wearing their costumes. There is a student with a small Afro sitting at his desk in the middle, at the front of the class. This student is not wearing a costume, just regular clothes. The classroom has a world map on the back wall.
Cap: Y'know, where teens go out camping and encounter the supernatural? Or a cheesy teen zombie event?
Panel 3: Zoom in on the student with a small Afro, he's bored. He has his head leaning on his hand. This is Jason Jordan, 14 years old.
Cap: Sadly, it wasn't that.
Cap: I was fighting like hell to keep awake in this class.
Panel 4: Mrs. Wickenthorpe faces the students/us. She has her brunette hair in a bun, she wears red thick-rimmed glasses, and a red dress shirt and black pants. She stands in front of the blackboard, behind her brown desk, with some scribbles for words.
Cap: It wasn't Mrs. Wickenthorpe's fault, it was her voice that's killing me. It was as if a robot puts on her skin and teaches the class instead of her.
Page 3
Panel 1: Jason looks at his classmates. They rest their heads on their desks, and a few are on their phones, texting or playing a game.
Cap: And it's not only me that finds this class miserable. I don't think I can handle it anymore.
Panel 2: The red school bell is on the wall, ringing.
Sfx: RING RING RING RING!
Panel 3: Jason is relieved as he looks up.
Cap: The last school bell saved me and my classmates from hell -- finally, my prayer was answered.
Page 4
Panel 1: The students in the hallway, most of them are walking while talking to their friends. Some of them are at their opened lockers, taking their stuff out. Jason's at his opened locker. There are some Halloween decorations.
Cap: On this day, Halloween fell upon my town like a sack of potatoes. Halloween was like St. Patrick's Day in Boston.
Panel 2: Profile of Jason as he takes out his backpack from his locker. There are students in the background walking and some at their lockers.
Cap: And on this day, I had finally gathered the courage to do what I couldn't do before.
Panel 3: Jason looks over his left shoulder with determination in his eyes.
Cap: And that was...
Panel 4: A pretty white-haired girl at her locker, talking to another girl. This is Sophia Bryce, 15 years old. She's wearing a black t-shirt with a skull wearing a red ribbon.
Cap: ...to finally ask Sophia Bryce out.
Panel 5: Sophia laughs with her eyes closed.
Cap: Sophia caught my eye ever since my eighth day in high school.
Page 5
Panel 1: Pages 5 to 6 are flashbacks and sepia tinted. In this first panel, Sophia stands in the classroom, in front of the whiteboard, smiling and waving at her "new" classmates/us.
Cap: She was like an angel that came down from heaven to bestow her beauty to us.
Sophia: Hi, I'm Sophia Bryce! I moved her from the city with my father.
Panel 2: Over Sophia's shoulder, the boys in the classroom look enamored while the girls look a little jealous. Jason is sitting in the front, slightly in the middle, and has a buzz cut, shocked.
Sophia: I hope we can get along!
Panel 3: Jason blushes red like a tomato, probably some steam coming out of his ears.
Cap: Back then, I didn't really care for anyone at this school.
Cap: My stomach felt light as my heart beat like someone playing crazily on the drums.
Panel 4: Jason's pupils shape into little hearts.
Cap: It was that moment I had a crush on her.
Page 6
Panel 1: Jason nervously talks to Sophia in a classroom, grabbing his left arm. He is standing up and Sophia is sitting down at the long black table. A beaker is on the table where Sophia is sitting.
Cap: I tried to introduce myself to her, but I keep screwing up.
Panel 2: In gym class, Jason is doing standing leg stretches while watching Sophia doing jumping jacks from afar.
Cap: Day by day, she was in my mind and I wanted to express my feelings.
Panel 3: Jason is an anxious wreck, he is sweating like a hog on a summer day.
Cap: But I'm afraid that she would laugh at me or something. I didn't know what to do.
Page 7
Panel 1: Jason closes his eyes, taking a deep breath.
Cap: I wasn't going to chicken out like I did before.
Panel 2: Jason's hand is on his chest.
Cap: All I needed to do was ask her out.
Panel 3: Jason walks over to Sophia and another girl she's talking to.
Cap: No more fumbling, no more backing out.
Panel 4: Jason grabs Sophia's and another girl's attention by smiling and waving his hand.
Jason: Hi, Sophia!
Panel 5: Over Jason's shoulder, Sophia grins warmly and another girl raises her eyebrow.
Sophia: Oh, Jason! What's up?
Jason/Cap: So far, so good.
Page 8
Panel 1: Sophia's POV -- Jason is a little sweaty, his nerves are trying to get the best of him.
Jason: I was wondering if you want to--
Panel 2: Same POV -- a tall teenager shoves Jason so hard, he goes flying. Jason's upper body is off-panel, only leaving his legs. This teenager has short black hair, a black and yellow varsity jacket -- through and through football player.
Football player: Beat it, pipsqueak! Who told you to talk to my girl?!
Sophia (off): Ahem!
Panel 3: Over the tall football player's shoulder, smirking. Sophia is peeved while another girl is enamored.
Football player: Hey, babe! You're looking more beautiful than ever.
Sophia: What is it, Chad?
Panel 4: Chad is cool with his charming smile.
Chad: Me and the boys are going to the town fair. You wanna come?
Page 9
Panel 1: Profile of Sophia and Chad, looking at each other. Sophia is frowning, Chad is still smiling.
Sophia: Did you have to push Jason like that?
Chad: You mean Pipsqueak? Yeah, he didn't have any business talking to you.
Panel 2: Chad tilts his head back a bit, giving off arrogance.
Chad: C'mon, babe, don't be like that. Pipsqueak needs to know you're not available.
Panel 3: Sophia rolls her eyes.
Chad (off): Are you coming or what?
Sophia: Yeah, sure.
Panel 4: Legs of Chad's and Sophia's, walking away. Jason's on the ground, in the background, looking on. Chad wears blue jeans and red shoes, Sophia wears light blue jeans and black shoes.
Panel 5: Jason looks on as he carries a frown on his face.
Cap: The prick that pushed me was Chad Peterson.
Page 10
Panel 1: Two panels are flashbacks and sepia-toned. In this first panel, Chad's outside. He is wearing a football uniform, holding a football up near his ear.
Cap: He's the star athlete of Lafayette High...
Panel 2: Chad gives Jason a wedgie. Chad enjoys this as Jason suffers in agony.
Cap: ...and a massive prick.
Panel 3: Jason's now standing up, dusting his shirt off with his hands.
Cap: Sophia doesn't look happy with that jackass. I couldn't bear to see her with him.
Cap: Him and Sophia have been together for a month now, but she doesn't look happy.
Panel 4: Jason, determined.
Cap: He was too stupid to see she was losing interest in him. I wanted to help her get rid of that bastard.
Page 11
Panel 1: A white one-story house. There are a couple of near bare trees on its lawn, the leaves are yellow and orange. The leaves are scattered on the grass. There's a parking space in the front yard. A black mailbox is in front of the house. The sky is partly cloudy. There are a couple of pumpkins on the stairs.
Cap: Thirty minutes later, I arrived home to figure out how to get back at Chad.
Panel 2: In the bedroom, Jason lies on his bed, on his back. His bedroom's walls are light green, his closet is on the left of his bed. His black backpack is on the wooden floor, the bedroom window is parallel to the bed.
Cap: So far, nothing.
Panel 3: Profile of Jason still lies on his bed, eyes closed.
Cap: No ideas emerged from my mind for payback. I stunk of failure.
Panel 4: Same panel, Jason's eyes are now opened.
Cap: Stunk...
Page 12
Panel 1: Jason sits up on his bed, shocked. Epiphany strikes him.
Cap: Suddenly, an idea hit me like a sledgehammer. It was the perfect plan, perfect revenge, and perfect ending.
Panel 2: Jason has an evil smile on his face, his hands rub together.
Cap: Chad wouldn't know what hit him at the fair. I hoped he was ready for what's to come...
Panel 3: On his right eye, his right brow is furrowed, determined.
Cap: ...because he would be remembered after this.
