Chapter Five

It was rolling around the end of Halloween and you could see Author-Chan from the corner of the room talking to some guests. There was something odd...something...strange in the air...but you decide to ignore it. As time goes on , you can hear a clock ticking and the sound of small chimes when another hour has struck. It bothered you to no end. You felt like no one could hear it , or at least were too busy having fun to care about it. The ringing was obnoxious. Irritating. To put it simply , it made you uneasy.

This...felt too horrific to be a simple halloween party trick. Author-Chan was walking around to check on her guests till she spotted you , turning into a bat and flying through the crowd to get to you.

" Hey there ! Didn't see ya ! So ! How's the party huh ? Bet you didn't think I would go all out this year now did ya ? "

" Hey can I talk to you ?
It's about your...clock. "

Author-Chan tilted her head and raised a eyebrow in curiosity. " Clock ? What clock ? " she looked up to the top of the double wooden staircase and chuckled to herself at what you were talking about. A dark wooden clock with a golden chime swinging from side to side , the ticking loud enough to echo through the room and into your eardrums. It perfectly synced in rhythm to your beating heart.

" Ah , so you see it too. Well my friend , that clock just tells us how many hours have passed , more specifically , how long till Midnight and the end of the party. Figured everyone would get annoyed of the constant ringing so I made it so that it can only be heard by me. Odd that you can hear it too... "

Another chime. Another hour had past. You looked back to her and saw her eyes were glowing ruby red once again. She smiled and lightly punched your arm , the tension somewhat lifted. " Sorry , but my hands are all tied and I've got things to do. I can answer your questions when the party's over , ok ? "

" Oh uh , ok " you replied. She moved a piece of her hair behind her ear and flew back to the guests. Weird...why can you only hear that clock ?...

Why do you feel such deja vu ? When has this happened before ?
