Percy felt like there was a cement lump in his stomach. What other feeling was Percy supposed to feel. His wise girl was going on an epic solo death quest! He looked over at her, her discarded panini sat glumly on her plate. Her eyebrows were scrunched together in deep thought as she stared down at her hand with a little twinkle in her eyes.
A little spark of hope
Her depressing expression made Percy want to run away with her.
"Let's forget the quest," Percy desperately wanted to yell.
"Let's get married, go to college, get a house,"Percy anxiously thought.
Sadly Percy knew he couldn't say that. He and his friends depended on eachother to help win this war. They couldn't defeat Gaea without each other. Percy wanted a break from all the chaos, more than anything. Percy had an idea.

Annabeth couldn't meet Percy's eyes. She knew he was worried for her, but he had to trust her.
"Curse you Hera
Curse you Athena
Curse you stupid owl coin,"Annabeth furiously thought.
She had lost her appetite, so she stared at her gorgeous promise ring that sat on her left hand. A gray band that represents her eyes with a sea green pearl in the middle reminding her perfectly of Percy's eyes. Around the band 'Something permanent' was carved. She had to go through with this war. Maybe if she did then the Gods might give her a break. She knew for a fact that the rest of the seven were waiting for Percy to come back so that they could start the other quests. That thought made her stomach churn with emotions. Suddenly she heared humming and her eyes finally met Percy's.

Yeah, You could be the greatest

Annabeth stared curiously at Percy. He walked over and kneeled in front of her, taking both of her hands into his while singing. Annabeth forced a small smile trying to hide her emotions.
Greatest
A word that Annabeth and Percy had heard countless of times.
"You're the greatest demigods ever!"
Demigods said to them. Did it change them. No. They always had to do their best to not let their fellow demigods down. To be the greatest, for them at least.

He stood up carefully, never taking his eyes off Annabeth. Annabeth's eyes glistened softly as the sky went perfectly with her eyes at that moment. Percy rubbed his thumb over her ring. Percy knew more than anyone that Annabeth was truly the best and Annabeth absolutely knew her seaweed brain was the best.

Annabeth loved that he had said that. It was rather silly but the first time Percy hung out with Annabeth while not at camp was when they went to the movies. They watched King King. At the end, Percy had whispered into her ear,"You can be the King Kong banging on your chest." He had kissed her cheek and left, climbing into his mothers car.
That was the moment Annabeth developed her first real crush.
Little did she know that that was the start of something new.

You could beat the world

Annabeth tensed. They had both discussed that beating the world was pretty darn hard and with the prophecy stating "And foes bear arms to the doors of death" they knew Tartarus was one of those options. Percy bent down and kissed her nose to calm her down which slightly worked.

You could beat the war

Annabeth shrugged.
War
That's what her life has been for the past 5 years. The gods had to be so cruel to make their children do their dirty work. It was outrageous, even if they were gods.

You could talk to God, go banging on his door

Memories came back to Annabeth.
When she was running away and Athena lead her to Thalia and Luke.
When Percy fought Ares.
When they were sneaking out of camp and Hermes helped them.
When she met Hepheastus in the labrynth.
When she sadly met Hera.
When they were in Olympus and Percy was offered to become a god. When he declined, all the gods stared at her as she silently sighed in relief and shock.

You can throw your hands up

Percy pulled Annabeth up while still holding her hands. He then threw their hands up. Annabeth's lips were an inch away from Percy's. For a second, they could hear each others breathing perfectly. For that one second, nothing else mattered.

You can beat the clock

They had a time limit.
They had until the summer solstice to beat Gaea. It was a short amount of time but they've gone through various quests with a time limit.
They had to beat the clock.

You can move a mountain

Everytime Percy said a word, he would move Annabeth's hands for fun. Annabeth used to think this dorky side of him was annoying. It still was but it became more amusing than annoying now.
Moving a mountain was what Annabeth wanted to do these past nine months. To move the mountains leading to Percy. She anticipated to just see Percy. Her Percy.

You can break rocks

To Annabeth rocks were every single flaw she had. Many rocks came up in her vision.
Fear
The fear of not saving the world.
The fear of her friends dying.
The fear of her losing Percy.
The fear of not coming back.
She tried breaking those rocks. She sometimes succeeded. But failed at times. Times where rocks were her greatest enemy.

You can be a master

Annabeth thought long and hard.
Was she really a master?
Of course she was, she fought monsters daily for Athenas sake!
Master
Master isn't a word Annabeth would call herself. There were greater masters before her who did wonderfuk things. She was just a little dot on that chart.

She pulled away and looked at them then she saw the seven looking at her through an iris messahe in the water fountaion.

Leo was smirking while Piper and Hazel awed. Frank and Jason were just smiling like always.
