1 Year after the events of Going For Glory...

"Ashhhhh!" Serena's sung his name as she strode up two steps at a time.

"Hmm?" Ash popped his head out from his room, just as Serena got up the stairs.

"Are you ready yet?" she asked, clearly being able to take in Ash's appearance. Ash put on his cap and stepped over the threshold.

"Of course, I am" Ash looked at Serena as if to say it was clearly obvious. Serena looked back with a straight face but then flashed a smile and hurried back down the stairs.

"What's the rush?" Ash followed her down the stairs as she twirled around to face Ash once more.

"Well, we get to see Clemont and Bonnie again. I can't hold in my excitement" Serena went for the door, but Ash lifted up a finger.

"One second, I almost forgot someone" Ash grinned, before heading back upstairs. "Pikachu?"

"Pika, Pika Pi!" Pikachu called, but from Serena's room.

"Hmm, what is it?" Ash entered and sat with Pikachu, who was interested in a book, one that resembled a diary. Ash opened it and began to read.

One year ago, tragedy struck the Kanto region and left us all worried as to what might happen. A nasty team known as Team Shadow crept into the region and disrupted the tournament we were all very excited for. They controlled our Pokemon and even our own wills. Thankfully, with the help of their now former leader, we managed to push them back and send them to where they belong for a long time, I hope anyway.

Once everything had calmed down and the region was cleaned up, everyone began to part ways. I felt sad, now being Ash's girlfriend and I wanted him to come back to Kalos. But, Ash wanted to stay home, since he had now been to a wide variety of destinations and spent little time with his Mom, besides the holiday prior to the tournament. Then, he suggested that I stay with them. At first I was reluctant but after a talk (a long talk at that) with my Mom, I went to Kalos, got my things and I now live with Ash and his Mom. Of course, I have a separate room, but we spend almost everyday together now, instead of having a sort of long distance relationship going on. Our Pokemon have bonded well too and now we are all happy. Every single one of our friends is doing great and today, we will be meeting up with Clemont and Bonnie. Since the past year, Bonnie has been training with Clemont's Pokemon, doing actual battles with him and learning many great things. Of course, Clemont is a gym leader, so his expertise will make Bonnie a great trainer. Clemont mentioned that she will be getting her starter Pokemon very, very soon, but Clemont wants to make sure the time is right.

Hopefully, we can spend a lot of time together today

"Ash?" Serena impatiently called from the door.

"Sorry, coming!" Ash closed the diary and put it back in the drawer that was hung open. "Ready buddy?"

"Pika!" Pikachu hopped onto Ash's shoulder and they set off to meet Clemont and Bonnie.

"How long has it been now?" Ash wondered as they walked down the path that led into the forest.

"Erm, quite a few months, definitely" Serena nodded to herself in confirmation and then suddenly ran down the path. "Come on then, slowpoke!"

Ash shook his head but chased after Serena. Pikachu hopped off of Ash's shoulder and followed Ash down the path, enjoying the run.

They made their way out of the forest, heading up to an open hillside, the trees surrounding them from every direction. Clemont and Bonnie were already at the top and Bonnie came racing down to Serena.

"Serena!" she almost screamed, jumping into her arms with a huge grin. Clemont came down the hill a little slower, readjusting his glass

"Long time no see guys" Clemont raised a hand and smiled.

"Yeah, it's good to see you both" Ash spoke to Clemont, while Serena and Bonnie spoke in the background, to catch up.

"How has the region been treating you?" Clemont turned and followed Ash's gaze as he slowly looked towards Serena.

"I was going to ask you the same question" Ash laughed, but he cleared his throat to speak. "It's actually been great. I haven't spent this much time in Kanto since I wasn't even a Pokemon trainer. My Pokemon have been a little restless lately since I haven't done much battling.

"Well, shall we change that and battle?" Clemont and Ash met each others gazes, matching grins printed on their faces.

"Let's do it!" Ash mentally wiped his forehead, feeling glad he brought his bag with him, which had his Pokeballs and other Pokemon.

"Serena, do you mind being the ref?" Clemont asked her, interrupting the ongoing conversation between her and Bonnie.

"Sure" Serena stepped forward, Bonnie following.

"I haven't watched Ash battle in a long time, this will be good for my training!" Bonnie said excitedly, preparing herself to watch the battle.

"Okay, one Pokemon each and the first one that is unable to battle loses" Serena looked to the two in turn for confirmation, both of them nodding. "Begin!"

"Luxray, I choose you!" Clemont threw out Luxray's Pokeball

"A nice choice" Ash took a Pokeball from his bag and pressed the button to make it grow bigger.

"Luxray is much strongef than before. Be warned, Ash" Clemont pushed his glasses up and flashed a challenging grin.

"Greninja, I choose you!" Ash threw the Pokeball out and Greninja came out of it.

"Luxray, use swift!" Clemont called out, Luxray instantly throwing its tail out, firing off the stars at Greninja.

"Greninja, dodge and use cut!"

Greninja swiftly jumped into the air, flipping over the stars. He brought out the cut from its sheath, but was too late.

"Luxray, wild charge!" Clemont was ready, already grinning due to his success. Luxray leapt up, the electrical energy surging through his body. Luxray smashed into Greninja, causing the airborne water Pokemon to fall into the ground with a rough landing.

"Not bad Clemont" Ash tipped his hat up slightly, turning to Greninja. "Are you okay, Greninja?"

Greninja, who was hurt due to the supper effectiveness of the move, slowly rose to his feet and nodded with determination.

"Okay then, let's show him what we have got!" Ash shouted out and the transformation began. Their bodies and minds began to link together as one and Ash-Greninja was born once more.

"Here we go Luxray, wild charge again!"

"Greninja, use cut!" Ash grinned as Greninja stepped forward once, launching itself with its strong foot, before unsheathing the cut and slamming it down into Luxray, who was jumping to Greninja for the wild charge. There was a moment where everything seemed still, until Luxray skidded across the ground, landing next to Clemont.

"Luxray, don't stop now, use swift once more!" Clemont knew that Greninja had undergone some serious training during the time Ash was with Serena, but he didn't expect the battle to be so quick.

"Greninja, use water shuriken!" Ash countered and Greninja formed the shuriken out of water, before creating a larger one by slapping his hands together, launching it at Luxray, who was leaping up and firing off another swift.

The swift connected with the shuriken, being torn apart by the water based ninja-star. The shuriken smashed into Luxray, causing him to faint.

"Luxray is unable to battle, so the winner is Ash and his Greninja!" Serena declared the winner, just as Greninja became normal again.

"I never get used to it" Ash laughed, taking a few deep breathes.

"I thought you said you didn't battle much?" Clemont returned Luxray and looked inquisitevly at Ash.

"I didn't say anything about training" Ash winked, before smirking. He returned Greninja and stepped forward.

"Shall we go get some ice cream or something? Let's have a proper conversation instead of letting the kids inside us make us battle again" Clemont suggested, Bonnie's eyes instantly lighting up.

"Looks like Bonnie has answered for us" they all laughed, heading off.

Meanwhile, at a classified location...

"How goes the experiment?" Lance stepped down the cobblestone corridor, his cape rising and falling due to the winds.

"The tests don't seem to be showing any irregularities, well, except for a minor one" the scientist in the room pressed a button and the screen showed Ash, battling Clemont with his Greninja. Lance watched as Greninja beat Luxray with ease, after his transformation.

"I have seen this before from the boy, but that strength is impeccable" Lance rubbed his chin in thought.

"Should I prepare for the initiation ceremony?" the scientist asked, but Lance shook his head.

"No. He isn't ready. No one is ready for the things that are about to happen. If the prophecy is true, chaos will ensure. That's what the Master told me" Lance sat down in his chair, spinning to the screen that had Ash in view. "Let's observe the area for now, we don't want to drag a kid into our problems.

"As you wish, sir" the scientist pressed a button and the screen changed.

"Wait!" Lance made him pause before the screen changed once more. "How is he back so soon?"

"Is he a bad kid?" the scientist had to ask, unaware of any past situations.

"No, he was but- Ah, it's a long story so let's save it for later" Lance ushered the scientist to continue.

The video of Parker getting off the cruise ship disappeared and Lance continued to observe from the classified building.

Things were just beginning.
