Chapter 3
Martin Taylor:
The next morning I was awoken by my alarm at 6 am. I groaned loudly knowing the house was empty. It was just me in there, John was with Leila who knows where since Zoella was staying at Leila's house.
I had to be at the children's hospital in 2 hours to hang out with the kids, it was something I tried to do at least once a week, or once every two weeks, and over the months I grew a bond with these kids and I have always looked forward to this but today I was drained, it was as if I hadn't slept at all. My head was pounding, and not an ounce of alcohol had entered my system.
I took a short shower and went to the kitchen and what a mess it was, dirty plates piled in the sink and leftover pizza boxes on the floor. I had no idea how old this even was, but it was disgusting.
I made a promise to myself to clean this up when I got back, I grabbed the bag I had set up a couple days ago with some presents for the kids, and put on my sunglasses and leather jacket and made my way out of the small apartment.
I was about to get on my motorcycle when I remembered that it was low on gas and I was in no mood to stop by a station and just hopped on my black Audi.
I had bought my Ducati motorcycle when I got my first paycheck playing for Miami, and it has stayed with me ever since, but sometimes repairing and maintaining it was just a headache.
I then headed to the hospital which was more or less a half hour away. I parked my car in my usual spot and made my way inside, taking off my sunglasses I signed the visitor's paper and made my way to the playroom. It was 8 am and most of the kids were sleeping. There were about 10 kids in the rehabilitation program at the hospital and 5 of those were eating breakfast, and another 2 were sitting down. One girl, whose name was Lucy was reading, and Christopher was watching TV.
"Hey Chris! I got the jersey you asked for!" I told the blonde boy with the tubes up his nose.
I took out the blue jersey and gave it to him and the boy's face lit up.
"Is it really signed?" He asked with astonishment on his face.
"Just like I promised, from every player!"
"Thank you so much!" Chris shouted and threw his arms around me.
"no problem, little man" I smiled.
I loved making these kids happy, they reminded me of the little brother I once had, but grew apart from a long time ago.
"Hey Martin!" Natasha one of the regular workers at the hospital said,
"Hey Nash!" I said getting up and giving her the normal hug.
"We have a new volunteer coming in today, she's going to hang out with the girls, paint their nails and all that girly stuff. You don't mind showing her around, right?" She asked and of course there was no way I could actually say no to her and I didn't mind either.
"Sure, no problem" I replied and Natasha smiled "Great, she's arriving in half an hour" she then turned and left.
"Come on Chris, let's play some wii sports before I have to go" I told him and Chris got up and immediately ran towards to console.
Christian suffered from lung cancer and he had some good days and bad days, it was unlikely he reached 10 even though he deserved it very much. Luckily today was one of his good days.
"Martin?" I heard a little voice and felt a tug on my pants.
"Hey Lucy!" I said and picked her right up.
Lucy was 4 years old and suffered from Leukemia.
"Can I plays?" She asked me and pointed to Christopher who was already setting up the game.
"Of course! We'll play bowling together!" I smiled at her and she laughed right back.
I helped Chris and once the game was set up we were all rolling on the floor laughing.
The other kids were still sleeping or in the cafeteria and sooner than later the half hour was over and the volunteer was already at the door.
"Alright guys, I'll be back after lunch!" I told them and went towards the door to great the incomer.
Imagine my surprise when I see Zoella standing in the doorway.
"Well, well, well. Little miss perfect is the new volunteer?" I asked her with a smirk on my face.
"Oh no no no, dammit, I knew it was weird when my father suggested I volunteer here. Is he playing match maker?!" She asked or maybe shouted at me.
I laughed at that, " I doubt it, please, I'm not boyfriend material and your father knows it" I told her, but still had my doubts, why on earth would coach try to set me up, with his daughter, none the less?
"Well come on, Ella let me show you around."I told her smiling,
"Please, I'll find my way around by myself" she muttered.
"No way, I promised I would show you around, so come on so I can get back to my pending Wii game" she sighed but followed me anyways and I knew that I had won, at least once.
It was a nice change seeing Zoella in normal clothing for once than in a dress or something more fashionable. Despite the casualness, she looked as stunning as ever, of course, I would never tell her that.
After showing her around the rehabilitation center it was already lunch time, too late for me to go back and play with the kids, they would already be at the cafeteria.
I suddenly had a great idea, "The kids are eating now, come with me and we'll buy them ice cream!" I told her knowing they would love it, I mean hospital food does get boring.
For some odd reason though she smiled at me nodded eagerly "and different flavors!"
I chuckled at that, that moment she reminded me of a little kid.We exited the hospital and I saw her look around the parking lot.
We both climbed into my car and I drove to a nearby ice cream shop I passed by every time I went to the hospital and we got off.
How much ice cream should I buy?" I asked and she shrugged.
"How about 2 gallons?" she suggested and I nodded, I figured it would be enough for the kids and staff and if there was leftover then they could eat some tomorrow as well.
We then ordered our ice cream and after grabbing the tubs we made our way to my car and put them in the backseat.
An hour later we were in the cafeteria handing out pots of ice cream to the children. They had been ecstatic to know we had brought them treats.
"Its sweet what you do to the kids" zoella commented.
they were good kids they deserved this and so much more, just like my brother once did.

The next morning I awoke with some pounding on my door, I looked over at my phone and it was only 9:30.
"I'm fucking going, dammit" I shouted but the pounding just turned to knocking.
"hold the fuck up!" I shouted once again and put on some sweatpants.
"Damn you, John" I said once I opened the door and saw him standing there.
"Where the hell is your key?" I asked him
"At Leila's, I went out for a coffee while she slept and on my way I saw this and decided to come here instead" he said and shoved a magazine at me.
"Coach is going to have your head if you screw his daughter" he said as I skimmed over the magazine.
There was a picture of me helping opening the passenger door as Zoella climbed out of my car as we went into the ice cream shop and the headline read "Martin Taylor and Zoella Johnson, in love?"
"All the magazines have you on the cover, buddy" john said and patted my back.
"Well I'm off, expect a call from coach" he said chuckling and left.
I was in deep shit.
