Friday Byrn
gabbyblues
Name: Friday Byrn, not her birth name, and no, she doesn't care to tell you that one, thank you very much. And please, stop asking for it.
Gender: Female
Age: Seventeen, although she can look older or younger depending on whatever the actual heck she wants. Fight her, I dare you.
Sexuality: Straight, probably. Friday's never really thought about it to be honest.
Appearance: Nana Komatsu
Friday (In her most natural state) looks all too much like her mother, from her nose to her dark eyes to her ebony hair. She's fairly short, standing at a whooping 5 feet, thanks mom, again. The one thing she and her father have alike is their feet, long and thin with rather
Personality:
Oh goodness, where to start with this one.
Well, first of all, more obviously, Friday has her own little sense of honesty. She might really be the most honest person you've ever met, besides all her quips about smoking pot, she's only done that like twice, but she enjoys playing herself up to it. Still, she does tend to withhold the truth, but if you ask a question, she'll give you an honest answer. It may not be clear but it'll be honest to the core.
Friday is also very wary, not very quick to trust, although people tend to trust her. She's got a strong sense of loyalty and family, but only to those who have basically pledged their soul and all that they have to her.
Though, she is rather hilarious, which probably accounts for most of the laughs she gets. The rest are pity laughs, but we don't talk about those in her honor. Most of the jokes she cracks are self deprecating, but humor has it that this is where she draws her energy.
One of her other more obvious qualities is her awkwardness, which goes hand in hand with her self deprecating jokes. She tends to laugh in a fun sort of sarcastic way, and this is after every joke, mind you. Friday is also very wordy, best get that fixed.
If you look deep enough though, you'll see a scared little girl who doesn't know what the heck is happening, and who just wants to go home. This was instilled a long time ago by her parents, and it hasn't worn off yet, poor kid. This accounts for her unwillingness to shapeshifter very often, and most of her irrational fears.
Strengths:
Well she's a whooper for making people laugh, even if they are pity laughs. She fails to disappoint, still and most people feel the need to cast a good impression upon her, even if she isn't the nicest pea in the pod.
Physically, nah, she's as weak as some little twig that fell off a tree or whatnot. But her mind is quite the muscle. The enjoys flexing it from time to time performing her favorite type of math, triangulation. Not like the psychology though, please don't touch her brain.
A funny thing, she can stall like no one's business. Need to get away from a bank robbery? Friday's the gal to seduce the banker or whatever to get you out of there. And by seduce I mean engage in a wild session of triangulation talking. How steamy.
As previously mentioned, she's good at having sexy conversations about math, and by sexy we mean awkward, and by math we mean triangulation.
Species: Shapeshifter, but most don't even realize it. Friday hates altering her appearance for some mighty well disclosed reasons, please and thank you. She can also, to a limited degree, manipulate the appearances of others, but that's too much effort, and there isn't any time soon that Friday is going to wake up and decide to put effort into something.
Powers/ Abilities: She can change her appearance at will, and generally only uses it on some all too persistent acne.
Fears:
Routine, most would speculate that this is because living on the edge is something that Friday enjoys, but that's not the case. It's mainly because routine brings along attachment, and when change strikes things can get a little messy.
Getting brutally murdered, which is one of the beliefs her parents forced upon her mind at a young age. They always said that people "with a normal sort of blood" would attack her from behind and then stab her multiple times. Apparently that's what happened to uncle Bill so we don't talk about it.
Being rejected by the people she likes, which is a rough one for Friday, because she doesn't get easily attached to people by any means.
Commitment, to some degree, probably because Friday has been instructed by her most high parents not to trust anyone until they've given you their soul and like a hundred dollars. And then after they give you that, what if you don't want to stick around?
Camels. Don't even ask.
Backstory:
Friday's parents were two shapeshifters as well, and people didn't like them. Somehow, some way, everywhere they went people found out and persecuted them in one way or another.
At that's when Friday came along.
They finally had to stay still so they could raise their daughter in a stable environment, but that meant extra secrecy. And now, mind you, her parents had a reason for everything. Some of the rules she had were as followed:
Don't go outside without permission, you'll attract the attention of the neighbors
Don't go walking alone, someone will probably murder you
Don't get too attached because people are not the greatest things on the planet
Remember, you don't really have friends
As you can probably tell, this gave her a rather messed up childhood. Sure, her parents homeschooled her, but it was a shame she didn't lean more in those early years.
But by nature, Friday was curious, and this was bound to happen. One mid afternoon (it was a Friday, actually), Friday snuck out of her house via the window on the bathroom, which was more readily accessible than the front door.
Right then and there she broke the first rule, and she was trembling with either fear or excitement, she didn't know.
Then the second rule gave way as she made herself walk toward the nearby grocery store, which would probably have kids her age hanging around it, seeing as they'd walk there all time. She'd only wished to come with them before as she watched them from her bedroom window.
The third and fourth rule kind of went at the same time when she saw a group of timid looking kids behind the grocery store eating a plethora of sandwiches.
And us a friendship sparked, and Friday Byers finally felt a bit of freedom. Every day she snuck out of that bathroom window and went to see her "friends". And guess what?
She got attached.
And guess what else?
They didn't leave. They pledged their souls to each other and some other stuff, and if you'd seen them walking and laughing together you would have known they were inseparable.
And the best thing was, Friday's parents never found out.
Quotes]
"I'm really good at . . . getting high, fine, you're right, I don't have a valuable skill set."
"And they were all up in my face with their little 'come inside dear, you'll attract the attention of the neighbors' and then I was all like 'Well it's not my fault if the neighbors think I'm hot' except I said that in my head so I don't know if it's really valid."
"Oh, no, I swear I've never been near your dog Ms. Lewis."
"I'm not going to kill you, dangit, I'm just going to sit you down and have a long conversation about triangulation so you wish I'd killed you."
"I'm the kind of face that would actually be nice to see in the middle of the night standing over you because it probably means I brought you a cup of mint tea and a poppy seed scone."
"It's not a gang, for the last time, it's a support group for people who don't really need a support group."
"Hun, please, that's too mainstream for my tastes."
"Yeah, but can you hold? I'm trying to seduce my neighbors right now, you understand."
House You Don't Want To Be In: Sarentine
Other: Friday has a subtle obsession with disease, like, she can't do anything about it, but she thinks it's kind of cool. Other than that, Not really, but enjoy this nice aesthetic.
