HEAVEN AND HELL STRUCK A BARGAIN. You would expect that these omnipotent forces would agree to this monumental deal in a large signing room with a seventeen foot long scroll that had spaces at the very end and feathered quills for the signatures of both parties. But in reality, it was just a simple handshake. Bummer, I know. The deal, however, was not. Heaven and Hell agreed that with a rapidly developing world they needed something else, something different, which is exactly what their deal made. Taking DNA (or the celestial being version anyway) of one of their most admirable operatives each, they forged something new.

Crowley and Aziraphale were not told beforehand of the plan Heaven and Hell had created. So it was an incredible shock (one that almost gave Aziraphale a heart attack which should be impossible for an Angel or a Demon) when they were handed over a child with fiery locks and told it was theirs.

They named her Monaya. Crowley liked it because it reminded him of the Mona Lisa sketch hung up in his flat whereas Aziraphale had read somewhere that it meant 'Unity' which was exactly what the child represented. It was 1901, the year the mighty Victorian Age ended, when Monaya first made her appearance in the Universe. Then, established by both Heaven and Hell, rules concerning the upbringing of Monaya were set into place:

1) Neither Aziraphale nor Crowley are allowed to have any contact with each other apart from the occasional chat, gossip, or question regarding the welfare of the hybrid child.

Well, that rule had been thrown out of the window millennia ago so they didn't see the point in trying to follow it now.

2) The Child will remain under one parent custody for a non-negotiable 15 years before switching for the following 15 years and so on.

Crowley was not would you call a natural parent so it quickly became a regular occurrence for Aziraphale to drop by and aid him in caring for Monaya; he would say it was because he didn't trust Crowley, but in reality he missed Monaya's presence. Other than that, the rule was followed like they had been asked to.

3) The Child is to receive teachings of both Heaven and Hell so that it remains neutral and will not sway to one side over the other.

This was probably one of the easiest rules to comply to considering it was not overly difficult. Although, even they would both deny it, Crowley and Aziraphale have both tried to convince Monaya to turn to their side of the coin but to no avail. She was not one to be tempted, bought or persuaded even if part of her was a Demon. Monaya was neither good nor evil. She was neutral. Some would go as far to say that she was purgatory contained in skin and dressed in red with a smile upon her lips.

So, long story short, Monaya was certainly different.

And they were going to need different if they had any hope of finding a mislaid antichrist and preventing the long awaited war between Heaven and Hell which would lay waste to all that stood in its path.

AUTHOR'S NOTE —
I love Good Omens so much, it's an incredible book and series and deserves so much more love. This story is going to be a mixture of the book and the series, probably mainly the series. It's also going to be set in 2009 with the birth of Adam in 1998 (in the book it said it was the late 20th century). There is no romance between Monaya and Maverick, they're best friends and always there for each other. If anything, they have a brother/sister bond.
