Waking up
Emma didn't want to open her eyes. As she was tired and could sense both Colyn and Secilia nearby, she didn't really see any need to open her eyes and properly wake up. Then Secilia screamed, well, it was kind of strangled, but a scream nevertheless. Reluctantly, Emma opened her eyes, nearly screaming herself when she spotted what she assumed was supposed to be her arms. Scales, claws, oh dear.
"Emma, you're a dragon!" Secilia said, a slight tone of panic in her voice.
'Gosh, I hadn't noticed, thanks for telling me,' Emma replied telepathically, standing up and looking herself over. She was bright red, with a gold underbelly and a gold stripe of spines down her back.
"I think this is going to be a problem," Colyn noted.
"I have no idea what in the stars you just said, Colyn. I don't understand dragon." Secilia said, pulling a hairband out of her pocket and pulling her hair back.
'He said, he thinks this is going to be a problem,' Emma supplied helpfully.
'I can speak for my self, mentally, anyway.' Colyn protested.
"Hush you two, there are people coming," Secilia said, glancing off to her right.
Emma glanced in that direction, extending her telepathy to sense them. 'Two people and two dragons. Boy and a girl of each.'
'Well, your telepathy still works, do we know if anything else was affected?' Secilia asked, backing up slightly so she was inbetween Colyn and Emma.
'We'll have to see. I'm going to assume I can still fly, it may just be because of these wings though.' Emma offered. 'If we need to get out of here, try mounting either Colyn or I, and we'll see how well we can fly.'
'I hate variables like that. Try apparitions.'
'Did you want a weapon?'
'Try a saddle instead, I'm not planning on falling off if we need to get away.'
'While this argument is cute, they're getting closer. Not attempting to be sneaky at all, I don't think they know we're here,' Colyn interrupted.
'You don't say,' Secilia commented, glancing at Emma with a significant look.
Emma snorted softly, then reached for the power she needed. It wasn't there. 'No can do, that doesn't work. The energy for it isn't there. I can't find the power for flight, or teleportation. We're gonna have to figure something else out.'
'What happened? I still have my ghostly core, so nothing changed with me. Colyn?'
Colyn did the dragon equivalent of a shrug. He slammed his tail into the ground, making a sizeable crater. 'Looks like I'm good.'
"Who are you? And what kind of dragons are those?" A boy asked, stepping out of the brush.
Emma opened her mouth, then realized the boy probably wouldn't understand her.
"I'm Secilia Cross, and I don't know what kind of dragon they are," Secilia said, her face carefully blank.
"You're with Secilia Cross?" The black dragon beside the boy had spoken, his voice deeper then Colyn's, but not that deep.
"Yeah, you know of her?" Emma asked, tilting her head.
"All dragons do. Silly humans are unknowing, of course," the other dragon, this one mainly blue replied.
"Fascinating," Colyn said. "I'm Colyn, and this is my sister Emma. What are your names?"
"I'm known as Toothless, and this is my rider, Hiccup," the black dragon said, looking at his rider.
"I am Stormfly, and this is my rider, Astrid."
"Our dragons seem to be getting along quite well," Secilia noted, glancing at the four dragons roaring to each other.
"Yeah," the brown-haired boy noted. "My name is Hiccup, and this is Astrid. Our dragons are Stormfly and Toothless." As he spoke, he pointed to each dragon.
"Cool, mine are named Emma and Colyn. They're twins." Secilia replied, smiling slightly.
"Twins, huh? I'm going to assume you two aren't usually dragons," Toothless said, tilting his head.
Emma shook her head. "No, usually we're human, er, zoxaen."
"Oh, you're Emmarine and Colyn Sandiego!" Stormfly realized. "Wow, can't believe I didn't realize."
"What about me?" Toothless complained.
"Doubted you'd get it," Stormfly shot back easily.
"So, you think we could go with you guys? We don't really have any way to get back. I can't reach my teleportation," Emma said spreading her wings slightly, before tucking them back in.
"If you weren't dragons before, what's stopping you from transforming into humans?" Toothless asked curiously.
"Would your riders freak out?" Emma asked. "We didn't get the chance to try before you guys showed up."
"Hiccup would definitely freak out. He'd go into excited Secilia mode." Stormfly said, shifting on her feet. "Astrid may try and take your head off."
"Oh, so nothing that bad. Got it. I'm trying, I don't think I can walk on four legs. At least, not very well." Emma agreed.
"Perhaps warn Secilia first?" Toothless suggested, glancing at Secilia.
'Secilia, Colyn and I are going to try and transform. We're wondering if because we weren't originally dragons, we may have a sort of almost hybrid form.' Emma transmitted.
Secilia didn't miss a beat in her conversation, having long ago figured out how to split her attention between two conversations. 'Go right ahead. Have fun!'
Emma focused on the same feeling she got when she switched from her more zoxaen appearance, to one that made her look actually human. Except for this time, it was dragon to human. She felt bones cracking and shifting as her form shifted to bipedal. Luckily for her, her normal clothes formed from the scales and were perfectly adapted to go around the wings and tail that had remained.
Hiccup freaked out for three and a half seconds, (Secilia counted) before rushing over to Emma and asking question after question. Emma patiently answered every single question she could, letting him pock at her more correctly sized, but still quite large tail and wings.
(A/N) How'd I do? Finally did an HTTYD crossover. This'll be fun!
