86- Movie: An excuse

Nihal, Yara and Rehyaa went and sat on the couch in the corner, away from everyone's eyes. As the minutes passed, Rehyaa's restlessness increased, which in turn scared Nihal.

"I hope she doesn't faint," he commented to Yara, worry lines on his forehead deepening as he saw Rehyaa's state.

"Why would you think like that?" Rehyaa asked in confusion as she heard his statement.

"She did," he replied, pointing towards Yara, who was now glaring at him.

"There's a difference between a week and ten minute separation," Yara deadpanned with narrowed eyes.

"A week!" Rehyaa exclaimed in a shrill voice.

Yara looked down at her hands which were lying on her lap in embarrassment. She didn't want to remember those days.

"You must have taken time to accept her." Rehyaa guessed while looking at Nihal. A human taking time to come in terms with this situation was the only possible reason in her mind.

"No, actually I didn't inform him about us being mates." Yara clarified sheepishly. Looking at Rehyaa's furrowed eyebrows, she elaborated, "I thought that accepting Nihal as my mate would be considered as a betrayal towards Vivaan."

"You truly care about Vivaan, don't you?" Rehyaa observed.

Although, Rehyaa had said it a positive way, it scared Yara. She now understood how Vivaan had felt while constantly trying to make it clear that they were just friends.

"Rehyaa, we are just...What I have with Vivaan is purely platonic. I swear that my relation with him would never come in between your relationship." Yara tried to assure Rehyaa, while her own heart was beating furiously in fear.

"Relax. You don't have to explain. Even if I had any doubt, it would have been easily cleared by your actions. The difference between the way you look at Nihal and when you see Vivaan explains everything." Rehyaa comforted her reassuringly.

"I think people have made such assumptions before, because of which both the best friends are so paranoid. You won't believe the number of times Vivaan has tried to reassure me," Nihal said, letting out a small laugh.

His laugh was contagious as the ladies too chuckled with him. Rehyaa was thankful for their distraction. Without these two, she would have gone crazy, by the time Vivaan came back.

Vivaan soon came back. Even though, he came back in dot ten minutes, it surely felt like an eternity to Rehyaa.

"Where is Hritika?" Nihal asked, looking behind Vivaan, for her.

"I dropped Hritika to her home," Vivaan answered in a grave voice.

The tone of Vivaan's voice was enough for Nihal to know that Hritika's condition wasn't too good. He turned towards Yara nervously, not knowing how to tell her that he needed to be with Hritika alone as that stubborn girl would never open up in front of anybody else.

Fate was on his side as Yara looked at him with a knowing smile and whispered, "Go."

Nihal smiled gratefully and said, "I will call you," so that she would know when it was okay for her to come home.

Yara turned back to the newly marked mates, who were attached to the hip, recovering from the unease that was caused because of the distance.

"Hey stranger," Vivaan waved his hand at Yara, while other was still entwined with Rehyaa. Despite of them meeting each other everyday, their casual talks were compromised. While Vivaan wasn't angry with Yara, he still wanted her to realize that they were still besties and not just the future leaders.

Yara rolled her eyes at his antics. "I know what you are doing so just stop it. I am sorry, okay," she muttered, throwing her hands up in surrender.

"You are forgiven." Vivaan spoke like a king forgave a lowly disciple.

"So what did you all do, while I was away?" Vivaan asked curiously.

It was an innocent question, just asked out randomly but Rehyaa thought that Vivaan needed exact details. Thus she blurted out everything that Yara had hoped would remain buried.

"I am proud of you." Vivaan praised Rehyaa and abruptly suggested that they should watch a movie until everyone was back or until Nihal called Yara home.

In spite of his suggestion seeming suspicious, both the girls agreed and they went to watch the movie. The home theater was on the ground floor itself so they didn't have to go somewhere far. They took their seats with Vivaan sitting in the middle. The movie had just started when Yara jumped on her seat.

"Sorry," she muttered while sitting back calmly, not before glaring at Vivaan who had suddenly mind-linked her.

"What?!" She asked in annoyance.

"Are you okay?" Vivaan inquired.

"Why won't I be?" Yara's eyebrows furrowed, not understanding why was he asking silly questions and disturbing her.

"I saw your face when Rehyaa explained about the Beta situation. I wanted to speak to you alone but leaving Rehyaa again was not possible," Vivaan explained.

That was the reason why he suggested the movie. So that he could speak with Yara without making Rehyaa feel left out.

"It's nothing. Forget about it," Yara dismissed the topic but Vivaan probed her until she relented.

"I have been trying for so long, yet half of the pack was still against me becoming a Beta. But Rehyaa's one statement was enough. Don't get me wrong, I am thankful for what Rehyaa did but I just wanted this to happen because of my deeds and not because someone forced them to." Yara vented out but then felt like kicking herself. The one she was complaining to was Rehyaa's mate.

"Vivaan, Please forget about what I said." Yara requested, feeling like an idiot.

Vivaan ignored her pleading and looked at her with a comforting yet stern gaze.

"Don't mistake this Yara. What Rehyaa did was to bring respect to the Beta position, their future Alpha's choice. You still need to make everyone respect you for what you are as an individual. You still need to prove yourself as a worthy candidate."

Yara blinked twice before nodding at him as new hope ignited in her heart. Both the best friends settled down properly on their seats, finally watching the movie as their heart was now at peace.

"Is Yara okay?" Rehyaa asked through their mate-link. Now it was Vivaan's turn to jump at the suddenness.

He looked at her with wide, scared eyes, causing Rehyaa to stifle her laugh.

"How?" He was flabbergasted.

"I am not that gullible. Please let me know if I have made a mistake in future. I would like to handle it myself than you apologizing for my wrong deeds." Rehyaa requested.

Rehyaa had been feeling proud of herself when she handled the Beta situation. However, she had noticed how Yara's face had fallen when she informed Vivaan about the incident. Her assumption was cleared when Vivaan suggested to watch a movie.

"She wasn't mad at you." Vivaan cleared, not wanting Rehyaa to feel bad.

While Yara was right at her place to feel bad, Rehyaa had not done anything wrong. Vivaan carefully explained the situation to Rehyaa, making it a point to let her know that she had not made a mistake.

Fortunately, everything turned out to be okay and Vivaan finally got to see the movie, though it was reaching the climax by the time he was done with talking to the ladies.
