77- Masking her pain

Rehyaa moved to freshen up and wash away her tears before heading downstairs for the breakfast. Being alone in the bathroom, brought back the grief which was hidden behind the excitement and nervousness of finding her mate. Without even doing anything, Vivaan brought a huge amount of comfort to her weeping heart. But the moment she was away, all those memories of her pack members dying, her parents taking their last breath, everything was thrown back to her.

Rehyaa cried profusely, barely managing to stand by holding the wash basin tightly. As sobs racked her body, she immediately turned on the flush to drown the noise. Unfortunately, Vivaan's sense of hearing was too heightened and he heard her clearly. He wanted to take her in his arms and console her but he knew that there was a reason why she tried to hide her sobs.

"Why was mate discussing about pack and leadership when she needed to mourn?" Joy asked in a whimper. Her muffled cries were breaking his heart.

"Because of the same reason we cannot go inside to console her. Our presence is becoming a barrier. Mate bond is working on its full force, causing her to only think about our future," Vivaan replied with a forlorn look.

"But it is necessary for her to cry it out. If she doesn't mourn right now, she won't be able to ever let it go. It's necessary for her to deal with the pain, to overcome it."

"I know and hence, we need to control ourselves. No matter how hard it is, we cannot go to console her," Vivaan said and tried to find something to divert his mind but his attention kept turning towards his bathroom door.

He tried his best but couldn't take it anymore. Throwing the book on the bed, which he was reading to distract himself, Vivaan walked towards his bathroom door. Fortunately, just before he was going to knock, he received a mind-link. And he was saved from idiotically disturbing his mate.

"Vivaan, don't come to the dining area for breakfast," Luna ordered.

Vivaan lowered his hand and turned back.

"Why?" He asked in an uninterested voice.

"Beta and Gamma barely managed to hold back the pack members. They all are excited to meet the future Luna. They weren't moving even a bit until we promised a proper meet and greet after she has taken proper rest," Luna ranted, not having any clue about the turmoil her son and his mate were facing.

"Oh!"

"Yeah. Now if some pack members get to meet her during breakfast then a rampage would break among the whole pack." Luna added.

"Then ask someone to bring our food upstairs." Vivaan suggested uncaringly as his attention was solely on the closed bathroom door, behind which his mate was breaking down.

"You know, food is not allowed upstairs. If leaders start breaking rules then how would pack members follow them dutifully." Luna scolded lightly.

"Then mind-link me if you find some solution". Vivaan hurriedly shut off his link as Rehyaa came out.

She smiled at him lightly, trying to mask her pain. Vivaan too smiled back, hiding the fact that he knew that she was putting up an act.

"Sorry, it took me some time. We aren't late, are we?" she asked with a sheepish smile.

Vivaan shook his head in negative and worded it out as well. "Nope, we aren't late. Infact we cannot go downstairs right now," he muttered before telling her the entire story.

"Will they like me?" Rehyaa asked, referring to the meet and greet with the pack members.

Joy understood perfectly, what Vivaan had meant by always thinking about their future.

"Of course, don't worry." Vivaan assured her. Before he could say more, he received another mind-link from Luna.

"Problem is solved. Yara being the sweetheart she is, invited all of us to their home for breakfast. By this the problem with the pack members will be solved and we can also enjoy their pending housewarming party."

"Oh! Alright," Vivaan muttered before bidding bye.

He had just relayed the news to Rehyaa when he received another mind-link.

"Just kill me." Yara screeched, making in Vivaan close his eyes in pain.

"Talk normally or else my mind will burst," Vivaan grunted.

"I invited everyone without realizing that Hritika is not feeling too well. I still had hopes from Nihal as I have seen him working in the kitchen but he bursted my bubble. He only knows to chop the vegetables and does not know actual cooking," she explained her problem.

"What should I do?" Yara cried, making Vivaan chuckle.

"Don't laugh and give me a solution. They are the leaders of the pack, I can't just take back the invitation." Yara shouted before crying again.

Vivaan controlled his laugh before asking her to give him few minutes to think of a solution. His best friend surely had the talent to make him forget his problems for a little while.

"What happened?" Rehyaa asked curiously as she saw him laughing uncontrollably.

Vivaan started to explain her the situation but got stuck mid-way as he started laughing again.

"I can help," Rehyaa said when Vivaan finally managed to convey the entire thing.

"Are you sure? There's no pressure," he asked.

They both left for Yara's house as soon as Vivaan received a positive nod from her.
