70- New addition to the pack
Pack doctor flumped down on his chair as his work was done. Most of the patients had already left the clinic and for the remaining few, he could do nothing but wait.
"You did a great job, doctor." Luna praised him and rightfully so, he deserved that praise.
He smiled at the only person who was still there at the clinic with him. When he had sent away everyone, Luna had stayed back to comfort the families of critical patients but now even when they had gone to take some rest, Luna was still here, giving him company.
"I am coming in," came a girl's noise.
Doctor looked up to see that it was Beta's daughter, holding two plates of food.
"Come on, be quick." She ushered them.
"What was the need for this?" Doctor asked as he reluctantly stood up to join the ladies.
"What do you mean by what was the need? You have been working nonstop since the news broke out. You need to eat or else you would collasp." Yara pouted in anger with her hands on her waist as she scolded the doctor.
Doctor chuckled at her cute frown and responded with a smile as he sat down on a chair. "How can I swallow something when my family is writhing in pain?"
"Did you eat?" Luna asked Yara as she took the first morsel in her hands.
"Yeah, we all ate," Yara replied.
Suddenly, rays of light came through the glass windows, directly hitting on Luna's face. She groaned, hiding her face with the palm.
"What's with the sunlig—"
Her eyes widened in realization and her head snapped towards the window.
Yara and the pack doctor followed her gaze. They all collectively sighed in relief upon looking at the blaring sun outside. The rain had finally stopped. Everyone was now safe.
"I didn't even realize that another day had broke," pack doctor commented.
"You have worked hard," Luna said with a smile.
She immediately mind-linked her mate, who in return asked everyone who was alright to get into protective gear and start cleaning the pack.
Yara took her leave to join the others in cleaning.
"I will join after finishing the food," Luna called out as Yara opened the door of the clinic to leave.
"Take your time. There are so many of us," Yara said, before closing the door.
She took out her mobile to text Nihal about the situation.
"Rain has stopped and we are now going to get rid of the silver. Are you joining us?"
Not receiving any response, Yara frowned for a second then shrugged it off thinking that he must have left his mobile somewhere else and would respond as soon as he read it.
She didn't know that she wasn't going to receive a response anytime soon as her mate was sleeping soundly. Tiredness from yesterday and his failing health had caught upto him and now he was sprawled on his bed, snoring lightly.

"Yara, where are you?" a pack member asked in a frantic voice.
Yara who was cleaning the entrance of the pack house paused in her work.
"At the pack house. Why?" Yara questioned back.
"Rogue's scent is coming off in waves from your house," the pack member replied, almost sounding like they were crying out of fear.
"What?!" Yara exclaimed out loud in worry.
Vivaan who was working nearby heard her and ran towards his best friend who was about to lose balance.
"What's wrong?" He asked after stabling her.
Yara choked on her voice while informing him but finally managed to. By that time, Alpha, Luna and Gamma came running as the pack member had notified Gamma too about the happenings.
"Yara, did you call Nihal?" Alpha asked in worry.
Yara shook her head as she took out her mobile.
"He. .he still hasn't responded to my text." Yara cried.
"Maybe he didn't have the phone with him." Luna spoke optimistically to handle Yara who was going hysterical.
"I thought that before but Nihal doesn't stay away from his phone for too long. His unresponsiveness means only one thing." Yara spoke through her tears.
Beta and his mate too came running. Juhi hugged her daughter, whispering comforting words.
"We should hurry," Vivaan stated and they all ran.
They came to a halt upon reaching the house. They had hoped that even if it was a rogue, it had just passed by but it wasn't the case. Rogue's scent was too strong.
"What should we do?" Luna questioned to no one in particular.
"How could a rogue enter our pack?" Gamma growled.
"We all were dealing with silver rain. Rogues must have seen this as an opportunity to infiltrate. Seeing this house has the members who wouldn't be able to defend themselves, it makes sense for the rogues to take them as hostage before demanding anything from the pack." Beta responded, earning a glare from Yara.
"Don't sprout out nonsense." Yara spoke through gritted teeth and impulsively called Nihal.
"What are you doing? Rogues may harm them." Luna shrieked as she snatched the mobile from Yara to hang up.
Before she could do so, they heard Nihal's voice from the other end.
"Hello?" he croaked in a hoarse voice as the call broke his sleep.
Everyone sighed in relief upon hearing that he was safe. They quickly put the phone on speaker even though his voice was audible to them, without it.
"Nihal, are you okay? Where are the rogues? Did they hurt you?" Yara vented out the questions frantically, not pausing for him to answer.
"Rogues, who?" Nihal sat up confused.
His confusion brought many questions in everyone's mind.
"Nihal, how many pack members have taken shelter in your house?" Luna asked, as understanding dawned on her immediately.
Even though Nihal was shocked upon suddenly hearing Luna's voice, he didn't let it show.
"Only the kids," he answered.
"Are you sure that only teenagers are there?" Luna asked again.
"No," he answered.
"No? But you just said...." Vivaan trailed off, confused out of his mind.
"There are two small kids too," Nihal responded.
Luna looked at Alpha with a knowing expression.
"We are all coming in." Alpha announced and gestured Yara to open the door.
Nihal understood that something was amiss as Alpha and Luna both were outside his house. He stood up hurriedly causing Rehan to wake up who was sleeping next to Nihal.
"What?" Rehan growled as his sleep broke.
"Sorry," Nihal apologized before running out of the room.
Rehan was about to doze off again but he sat up straight as he smelled the leaders scent. He kicked Naman, waking him up hurriedly and mind-linked the other group members.
"Shit!" they cursed as they realized that the rain had stopped while they were sleeping and the rogues were still here.
The teenagers huddled together as they watched everyone interact with humans.
"What's wrong?" Hritika asked as she saw the crowd gathered at their house.
"Hritika, the kids you two helped were rogues," Yara informed softly.
"What?!!" Nihal and Hritika exclaimed in shock.
"Why did you do that?" Gamma snarled as pack's safety was jeopardized.
"We...we didn't know", Nihal responded in a small voice.
Hritika too had her head bowed in shame.
"It's not their fault."
Hritika and Nihal's head snapped up as they heard Vivaan taking their side. To say they were shocked was an understatement.
"They were just trying to help. They are humans who doesn't have the ability to smell the difference between the pack members and rogues. Plus the rogues they helped were small kids. Anyone with a heart would help them." Vivaan added.
Luna nodded agreeing with Vivaan and moved her head slightly towards the teenagers.
"Humans couldn't detect the rogues but you could, then why didn't you stop them?" Luna asked them.
"We...we thought...we thought that they knew and were still helping as they were small kids." Naman stammered but managed to use Vivaan's words to save themselves.
"Yea...yeah. And we couldn't dare to oppose the decision made by Alpha's son." Mia added smartly, trying to get out of the situation.
"What the...," Nihal started but stopped as Hritika held his hand and gestured him to keep quiet.
She knew the punishment for them would be far less than the one teenagers would receive. As for teenagers, it was an intentional act but for humans it was just their inability to differentiate.
Alpha sighed, not knowing what to do. He kept silent, letting Luna Mahira take the lead. Letting her take the decision would get rid of all the biasness.
"You didn't do it purposefully so I am letting it go this time. Next time if you encounter any stranger, please make sure to ask the werewolves you know to check whether they are rogues or not before allowing them to enter," Luna said.
Gamma tried to protest, wanting the humans to receive the punishment but one glare from Juhi was enough to shut him up.
Luna asked where the kids were and went to question them and see if they had any family members around. If yes, then they had to send the kids away before their family came looking for them, causing a havoc to the pack.
Upon questioning Raavi, Luna found out that their parents had died a few months ago and the kids were alone. She looked up at Alpha, who nodded at her, silenting communicating with each other. They couldn't possibly leave the kids alone in wilderness to fend for themselves. Thus, the decision was made. These kids were joining their pack as soon as the paperwork was done.
