67- Safety first
After getting confused two-three times, Vivaan finally managed to get a hand of how the GPS worked and reached where Nihal was waiting.
Nihal stumbled back after seeing an unusual sight that seemed straight out of an animated movie.
"It's me, Vivaan," Vivaan grumbled as he saw Nihal's frightened look.
"Wh..what have you done with yourself? And how are you able to come out in this rain?" Nihal questioned with a small laugh, getting a hold on himself once he realized that the weirdo in front of him was no stranger.
"Don't laugh. This weird outfit is the reason I could manage to come out", Vivaan scowled.
"Of course, safety comes before looks," Nihal remarked, before moving his attention towards the three werewolves who had taken shelter underneath a tree, to avoid extreme exposure to rain.
"Let's move them." Vivaan suggested.
Vivaan and Nihal together picked up the unconscious werewolf and placed him on the cart while the other two werewolves, got on the cart themselves by getting some support from Vivaan and Nihal.
Vivaan looked at Nihal whose eyes were drooping a little and had went a little breathless after picking up the heavy wolf.
"Rest for awhile." Vivaan suggested as he covered the werewolves with plastic sheets.
Nihal shook his head and replied in a hoarse voice, "I have a whole life to take rest later."
Knowing that his half brother was stubborn, Vivaan didn't argue but gestured Nihal to leave the cart.
"I will take them back to the pack house." Vivaan declared, aware of the fact that Nihal didn't have energy left to push three werewolves.
"Okay. Then, I will search for other pack members who are stuck." Nihal agreed.
Vivaan forwarded Alpha's phone to Nihal.
"Huh? Do you want me to put the pack house's location?" Nihal asked unsurely while taking the phone from Vivaan.
"No. I have another phone to get back. In case, you find another pack member who is able to walk, then give them this phone to locate the pack house instead of wasting your energy to guide them back yourself," Vivaan said in a small voice.
It was really uncomfortable for him to talk with Nihal normally instead of fighting or giving snide remarks.
"Thanks," Nihal said, just as awkwardly.
"I will be off then," saying that Vivaan turned and left, pushing the cart with all his strength.
Nihal took few deep breaths and letting out a final puff of air, he too moved to see if anyone needed his help.
As the brothers roamed in the forest, pack members started learning to use the app through Hritika, upon the request of Luna. She insisted that it would be faster to learn instead of Hritika putting the information in everyone's mobile one by one. As soon as they got the app to work, the pack members set off to help.
The idea of using chairs with wheels worked like wonders as they were able to rescue many pack members.
Members with minor injuries were treated with first-aid on the first floor itself, as soon as they got showered while the critical one's were sent to the pack doctor's clinic.
Alpha and Luna kept a track of members who were still outside by constantly mind-linking everyone if they found any shelter. They even mind-linked every family to know if any member of their household was still outside, incase the said person was unable to receive the link due to being unconscious or any other reason.
After lots of hard work, all the pack members were safe. Yes, the life of patients with critical conditions was still hanging on a thin line but no pack member was left stranded in this rain.
"I thank all of you for your help. We have won this war against nature today but we still need to be careful. Please discard the clothes you wore while going to help outside. We cannot risk reusing them. And take a thorough shower to remove all the remains of silver present. Your safety is also important." Luna requested to the pack members who had worked with all their might, supporting their leaders.
They all nodded with a smile and left. Now the only ones who were left where Alpha, Luna, Vivaan, Beta, Gamma, Yara, Nihal, Hritika and Rahul.
"You did a good job. I will treat you and all your friends later." Gamma praised his nephew, knowing fully well that he wouldn't leave until then.
"It was my duty for the pack," Rahul said modestly, but within a few seconds showed his true face, "Our group is of fifteen people. I will let you know where we want the treat," he added cheekily.
"Everyone worked hard. Why the hell do you need special treatment?" Yara grumbled.
"You are the one to talk. Your mate is one who is going to benefit the most from it." Rahul snorted.
"What did you just say?" Yara spoke through gritted teeth. She barely controlled herself to not go and strangle him.
"Don't act like you don't know. If Nihal was selected as the Alpha previously then the whole pack would have protested but now, that's not the case. Today, he was the first one to go out and help. So many pack members were praising him. If he gets elected to become an Alpha, I don't think the pack would have any problem," Rahul said, slyly looking at Vivaan.
Though he was speaking with Yara, his words were solely directed towards Vivaan.
"Even I wouldn't protest." Vivaan agreed.
Rahul's head turned towards him so fast that it could give him a whiplash.
"What?!" Vivaan shrugged looking at everyone's shocked expressions.
"I only protested because I thought Nihal wasn't capable of taking care of the pack but now I think everyone would agree that he is capable of becoming an Alpha." Vivaan added.
"I disagree." Nihal's voice boomed.
He sternly added, "I helped out of humanity. Do not make me regret...Achoo––"
He started sneezing continuously, which caused the attention to turn away from the Alpha's position towards his health.
"Wh..what's wrong? I thought silver didn't affect him and then why is he...," Yara trailed off in worry.
The continuous sneezing and his shivering form, worried the hell out of her.
"Let's take him to the pack doctor." Luna suggested, looking just as worried, thinking that he got infected because of his werewolf genes, even if they weren't dominant.
"It's just a common cold. It was obvious this would happen as he has been roaming around in the rain," Hritika muttered with an eye roll.
She didn't understand why these people were making a mountain out of a mole hill, not knowing that because of their immunity they had never witnessed the disease that was too common in human lives.
