64- Humans- The Last Hope
Hritika took out some clothes from her wardrobe for the teenagers while Nihal swept the flooring, so that no one else would come in contact with silver again. Their floor was covered with silver coated water as the teenagers were dripping wet when they came inside.
As he entered the terrace to keep the mop in the extra room, his gaze went to the forest and the realization hit him like bricks.
He hurriedly descended the stairs in worry and dashed into Hritika who was moving towards the kitchen.
"Whoa! What's wrong?" Hritika asked, looking at his worried face.
"Remember, Yara informed us how werewolves lost their ability to navigate when it rains. Pack members who are inside the forest won't be able to find their way back," Nihal said, running his hand through his hair in tension.
"Dammit!!" Hritika exclaimed, getting worried as well.
"I am going to help them." Nihal announced and moved towards his room.
Hritika nodded in agreement.
"Take few umbrellas and windcheaters with you, to cover them or else they would get more burns by the time they reach here," Hritika advised.
Nihal hurried to take all the requirements out of the mess he had created while unpacking while Hritika pulled out few blankets to cover the wolves.
She knew the water would seep through the blankets but it would at least save them from direct contact.
Quickly stuffing everything in a shoulder bag, Nihal left towards the forest from the back door of his house.
"How is he going to find his way back?" Vanya asked, coming out of the bathroom, startling the hell out of Hritika.
Hritika clutched her chest, breathing deeply, before composing herself. "Through GPS," she answered while gesturing her to come out with her.
Three out of the seven teenagers were standing near the kitchen while others were either showering or waiting for their turn.
Hritika took the first-aid box from the lower shelf of the kitchen and looked at it while biting her nails in confusion.
"These medicines are different from the ones we use. Do you know which of these is used for silver burns?" Hritika asked.
All three of them shook their heads with a frown.
"I can ask mom. As pack doctor has given everyone similar type of kits, I am sure all the medicines would be same as well," Mia said and tried to mind link her mother after receiving a positive nod from Hritika.
"Mom?" She asked as the line got connected.
"No dear, you contacted me by mistake. Is everything alright? Are you safe?" Luna asked, with worry seeping through her voice.
"Ye..yes, we are safe," Mia stuttered upon realizing that instead of her Mom, she had mind-linked the Mother of the whole pack.
"Your Mom has gone to help the Pack doctor. Let's not disturb her, yeah? You can ask me for any help," Luna persuaded in a gentle voice.
"We have taken shelter at the humans house. The human, I mean Hritika doesn't know which medicine should be applied for silver burns." Mia spoke hesitantly. She had never directly had a conversation with the Luna and speaking with her seemed frightening, even though Luna was being so sweet.
"You all are okay, right? Are your wounds too deep? Do you need pack doctor's help?" Luna asked frantically.
"No, fortunately we all are okay. It still pains but the wounds aren't too deep," Mia answered.
Luna sighed in relief and informed her about the ointment that was kept secured under a small compartment in the first-aid box.
"Luna, can you please ask Mia if Alina is with them? I am not able to connect with her," Alina's mother asked in a hopeful voice.
She was standing nearby, helping Luna when Luna had received Mia's mind-link and thus hope grew in her heart that her daughter was safe with other teenagers.
Luna Mahira nodded and relayed the same question to Mia.
"Alina? No she wasn't with us," Mia answered.
Hearing about Alina, Naman spoke up.
"I saw her playing around with the orphan pups in the garden."
"Young Pups are stuck outside", Luna shrieked as Mia relayed the message.
Luna Mahira suddenly lost her calm and ran to go outside.
Alpha, Vivaan and Yara ran behind to stop her. Luna fought fiercely as they tried to hold her.
"You will die outside," Alpha shouted, hoping to put some sense into Luna.
"Who cares? Is my life more important than the small pups?" Luna asked with blazing eyes.
As the mind-link was still open, Mia heard everything and informed everyone in the kitchen about it.
"Can you help?" Vanya questioned Hritika with hope, as she had seen Nihal going out to help.
Hritika slowly nodded with a thoughtful expression.
"Will you be able to apply ointment to each other?" Hritika asked as she couldn't just leave them here in pain.
Upon receiving a positive response, she stood up.
"Help me," she said and asked them to follow inside her room.
Vanya and Mia emptied her huge suitcase upon Hritika's order and Naman took out the huge plastic sheets covering some of her luggage.
Two more kids came out of the bathroom and started helping her as soon as they got hold of the situation.
"Listen guys, I am leaving this house in your hands. Please remember the instructions and help the other pack members who come looking for the shelter. Make sure to stand a little away from them. Can I trust you?"
Hritika spoke as she covered her suitcase with one plastic sheet from inside, so that the water didn't seep into the bag and then stuffed another plastic sheet with blanket for covering the pups and Alina.
"Don't worry, we will do our best to help the pack." They promised.
"Okay, first treat your burns and then half of you wait near the front door and other half in Nihal's room to usher and guide anyone who wants help." Hritika ordered and left the house.
Luna had visibly calmed down as she heard the conversation through the open mind-link between Mia and her.
"Why did Hritika said that she is leaving the house to you? Where is Nihal?" Luna questioned, shocking the hell out of Alpha, Vivaan and Yara who were with Luna.
"He has gone into the forest?" Luna asked with a shock as she couldn't believe what Mia had informed her.
"WHAT? Is he gone mad? How will he return?" Alpha bursted out in worry as he paced here and there.
Mind-link was abruptly closed as Mia got scared with Alpha's shout.
"Dammit! I lost the connection because of you." Luna snarled at the Alpha.
"He will use GPS to track the location," Yara informed, calming everyone down.
"GPS? Do you know how it works?" Vivaan asked with hope.
As much as he was grateful that Nihal was helping, He knew that Nihal alone wouldn't be able to help so many members.
Yara shook her head with remorse.
"I just know that it can be done but I don't know how to use it," she answered breaking all his hopes.
"Hritika has gone to fetch the pups. We can ask her for help as soon as she returns," Luna said optimistically.
Right now, the humans were her last hope to save the pack.
