61- Not so Simple Dinner
A small house stood in all his glory with a fifteen minute walking distance from the pack house. Although the exterior was same as the other houses of this pack, the interior was made according to the personal tastes of Yara, Hritika and Nihal.
Three of them smiled proudly as they entered their home. The front door opened at the living room which had an ample space with a loveseat sofa and two armchairs placed systematically in the middle of the room, directly opposite to the television which was perched up on the wall, which was on the same side of the door.
As they had already transported most of their luggage, they only had one or two items in their hands. They all moved towards the narrow passage, to the right of the living room. That passage led them towards their rooms, which were situated opposite to each other.
"Finally!" Nihal plopped down on his bed as soon as he entered the room. Although the couch in Yara's room was comfortable, sleeping on it everyday had exhausted Nihal.
"Seriously? A normal person would admire their new room first instead of just getting on the bed as soon as they entered." Yara made a snide remark.
"What's there to see? We have made it more or less similar to your room at the pack house with the exception of having two beds instead of a bed and couch and the back door," Nihal replied nonchalantly.
Yara huffed but stayed silent as Nihal was right. The colour scheme and everything else was made exactly the same in hopes that Yara wouldn't miss her childhood home. The exception of two beds was made for Nihal's convenience and the back door- the back door was like a gift to her as it directly opened towards the forest, that too at their secluded spot.
"I am going to put the storage items in the rooftop room. Please get up before I come back." Yara requested with a frown on her face.
As her hands were holding the box, she knocked on Hritika's room with her elbow. It wasn't easy to balance the box and knock at the same time, but somehow Yara managed to juggle everything.
"You could have just called out my name." Hritika shook her head at Yara's antics as she saw her trying to balance everything, receiving a sheepish smile from her.
"Do you want something?" Hritika asked.
"Huh?" Yara mumbled, looking at Hritika with a confused expression.
"Well, since you knocked...there must be something, right?"
"Oh yeah!" Yara facepalmed internally.
"I was going to put some of my unnecessary stuff in the extra room. If you want, I can carry your extra stuff too." Yara volunteered.
"Have you already unpacked your luggage?" Hritika asked, looking shocked.
"No, I haven't even started yet. While packing, I had already made separate boxes for this stuff." Yara informed.
"Wow, you are so organized. Well, I need to unpack and segregate the necessary and unnecessary items first. Just store your items now, I will place my stuff later on," Hritika said.
"Oh! Okay," Yara muttered and took a step back to leave.
"I heard you were planning a housewarming party," Hritika called out, making Yara stop in her tracks.
"Who...who told you?" Yara faltered, looking scared.
"Vivaan informed me," Hritika answered, looking at Yara with raised eyebrows.
'Argh! This idiot,' Yara mumbled to herself, barely managing to stop her hands from pulling out her hairs.
"I haven't planned anything. I was just thinking about it and was going to discuss with you and Nihal during lunch," Yara explained.
"Alright, no problem. Let's discuss everything over food. By the way, who is cooking?" Hritika questioned curiously.
"I have never cooked in my life," Yara answered sheepishly.
"I will cook then, but don't expect a five star meal," Hritika muttered with a groan as she was really tired.
"As long as it is edible," Yara mumbled to herself.
"Did you say something?" Hritika asked.
Yara shook her head, thanking Moon Goddess that Hritika didn't have heightened senses or else Yara was a dead meat today.
"I will go now." Yara took her leave.
Coming out of the passage, she went past the living room towards the left. Kitchen was situated towards the extreme left, along with a counter and high stools for them to sit. The dining table was made convertable into a wall, as they knew they wouldn't be using it unless they were having some guests. Near that wall, stairs were built to go upstairs.
Yara entered the terrace and groaned upon looking at the darkening sky.
"Looks like rains are early this year," she groaned before going inside the room.
They had placed the washing machine and ironing stand inside the room and now had decided to use the other space as the storage.
It took a while for Yara to put away the things properly. By the time she came down, Hritika had already prepared their lunch and was waiting along with Nihal, for Yara.
"What's up with the frown?" Nihal asked Yara as she took a seat on the stool beside him.
"It's cloudy out there, it would probably rain today." Yara informed with a sigh.
"You don't like rains."
It was more of a statement than a question as Hritika observed Yara's fallen face.
"I don't hate it but rain is too much of a hassle," Yara replied.
"I thought being a part animal, you would enjoy the nature more," Nihal commented.
"We do enjoy nature but rain washes away all the smells, making it impossible for us to navigate. Patrolling gets harder in this season and not to mention the restriction on going deep inside the forest as we are not able to find our way back." Yara huffed, while picking at her food.
"You can use GPS," Nihal said, wondering why she wouldn't use it when she was the one who gave him that idea.
"We don't roam in our human forms in the forest and it's practically impossible for a wolf to use a mobile." Yara deadpanned.
"Oops."
"Alright, enough of this. Let's discuss about the housewarming party, Yara wants to have." Hritika changed the topic before it turned into a fight.
"How about a simple dinner with Yara's closed ones instead of calling a party for the people who don't even like us?" Nihal suggested.
Both the girls agreed, liking his suggestion.
"So, Yara's parents and Vivaan. We are calling three people, correct?" Hritika asked to confirm.
"Um...we will have to call Alpha's family and Gamma too. It would look bad on our part if we don't invite the leaders of the pack." Yara spoke hesitantly.
Looking at Nihal's tightened fists, she immediately added, "They might not even come because of their busy schedule."
Although Yara was trying to diffuse the situation a little, Nihal and Hritika knew that Alpha wouldn't leave such a chance to connect with his son. Thus, making their simple dinner, a lot more complicated.
