54- Open-minded Gamma
Yara entered the room with Juhi in tow. Luna Mahira was also present in the room, adjusting pillows so that Vivaan could sit properly without hurting himself.
"How are you now? Has the pain resided?" Yara asked, pushing his leg aside to take a seat on the bed.
"Oww," Vivaan groaned, clutching his leg.
"Yara." Juhi glared at her daughter.
"On one hand you ask about my well being and on the other you purposefully hurt me." Vivaan scowled.
"Oops." Yara looked at him sheepishly.
Vivaan narrowed his eyes but eventually smiled with a shake of his head.
"It's still paining but I would be fine till evening. Wounds are healing at their usual rate," Vivaan answered Yara's previous question.
"That's good to know. What did you want to discuss?" Yara inquired.
Luna and Beta's mate took seat on the nearby chairs, facing Vivaan and Yara.
"About yesterday's mishap. What if there are more pack members who are getting bullied? Forget making a complaint herself, Alina wasn't ready to speak up about the bullies even after mom approached her. What if there are more pack members like her who are suffering in silence?" Vivaan vented his worries.
"We will have to come up with something that would not only encourage the pack members to let out their grievances but also make them aware of what is right and what is wrong. Just like how you explained the teenagers that their actions were causing harm, people need to get aware about the wrongful norms." Yara spoke in a thoughtful tone.
"But how? What can we do? If we are too upfront, pack members may get scared or rebel without understanding the severity," Vivaan said, blowing air out of his mouth.
"Should we ask ideas from the pack members?" Juhi suggested.
"The plan would shut down even before starting." Luna denied.
The other three looked at her questionably which made Luna sigh.
"We don't know who is the bullying and who is being bullied. Asking an idea to a wrong person would create a havoc. Bullies don't know what they are doing is wrong. Just like Yara said, Vivaan made the teenagers understand their folly and the same needs to be done on a larger level," Luna explained.
"And for people to come forward with their problems, you will need a Gamma. He is the link between pack members and leaders. Pack members are more likely to share their problems with him rather than directly coming to us." Juhi added.
"No wonder." Yara sighed.
"Huh?" Vivaan looked at her with raised eyebrows.
"No wonder Alina couldn't come forward to share her problems. Our Gamma, no matter how loyal he is, his thinking is outdated. Even I won't go to him with my problems." Yara elaborated.
"He is not that bad." Juhi argued but alas! no one in the room agreed with her.
"Who are you going to appoint as a Gamma? If you have decided then we can make him/her start their training with this case," Luna asked Vivaan.
"I haven't yet. No one seems to come close to my expectations," Vivaan answered with slumped shoulders.
"How about Rahul? He is Gamma's nephew. Won't he be a good choice?" Juhi suggested.
"Let me live in peace. How are we going to work if a third in command would constantly demean a second in command, just because I am a girl?" Yara questioned, upset with her mother.
"He is worse than the current Gamma." Vivaan added.
"By the way, how does it work for Alpha? Alpha always comes up with new techniques while Gamma..err. Alpha must be getting his first opposition in his inner circle itself," Vivaan asked thoughtfully.
"Because of that very fact, Alpha was able to make flawless plans that no one could deny. If that plan passed Gamma's questions then it was obviously a success," Luna answered with a chuckle.
"You are not considering hiring Rahul after hearing this, are you?" Yara asked hesitantly.
"Of course not. That might have worked with Alpha but I want someone who is open-minded," Vivaan replied.
"So you want someone who thinks like you and won't oppose your decisions," Luna remarked with a raise of her eyebrows.
"I said open-minded not like-minded. I would surely want them to point out my mistakes or question me if something doesn't seem right but I also want them to know that trying something different or being different is okay," Vivaan explained his point, earning a proud smile from all the ladies.
"I wish you luck. Hopefully you will find that person," Juhi said.
"Until you find that right person, think of ideas for this problem by yourself," Luna said.
"We will try our best." Yara promised while Vivaan nodded at her words.
"Where are you? I need to discuss about our training," Vivaan received Alpha's mind-link.
"First floor. Come down if you want to talk, I cannot climb up the stairs in this condition," Vivaan replied with an attitude before shutting off his link.
"Alpha is coming downstairs," he announced.
"We will leave then," Juhi said, gesturing to Yara to stand up.
They bid their byes and were just about to leave when they heard loud shouts coming from the corridor. Curses were hurled at Alpha by someone. They couldn't see who it was, but it felt like a familiar voice; Nihal's voice to be exact.
