Vivaan's eyes met Nihal's as he climbed up the stairs, Nihal and Hritika were descending from. They all continued on their way without giving each other importance.

Vivaan soon joined Yara who was standing at the top of the staircase, looking at the retreating back of her mate.

"Angry?" Vivaan questioned, pointing towards Nihal's figure.

Yara shook her head before replying, "I don't think so. He did give me a small smile so he isn't angry right now but he is going to be in a few minutes."

Vivaan looked at Yara with a confused expression. "Huh?"

"As soon as Hritika narrates the whole encounter and also specifies about how I was rude to her, he is going to lose his temper. You have seen him. He is absolutely calm unless Hritika gets attacked," Yara explained, letting out a resigned sigh.

"He needs to understand that you were just doing your duty. It's going to be a huge problem if he isn't able to keep an open mind as situations like these are going to appear in future where you would have to choose between your duty and being his mate," Vivaan said, fearing the outcome.

Even if Yara had the capability for the Beta role, Nihal's support was necessary or else Yara would be in constant dilemma to choose between the two sides, thus affecting her performance.

"I will discuss this patiently with him tonight and I am hopeful that he would understand," Yara said.

"By the way, what happened with the teenagers? Did you punish them?" Yara inquired curiously.

"I didn't actually punish them and I am hoping that Alpha doesn't make a huge scene for it," Vivaan mumbled, looking at his shoes.

"There must be a reason, if you chose to not punish them," Yara said in a knowing tone.

Vivaan smiled in gratitude, touched by her trust on him and nodded affirmatively.

"They understood their mistake. Punishment was for them to realize their error. What's the use of it, when my words were enough for them to recognize their mistake," Vivaan said and then told her the entire story.

Flashback

The whole group of teenagers along with their parents were waiting in Mia's house (the girl whose hand was twisted by Hritika).

Vivaan had already mind-linked them and hence they had gathered at one place so they could talk with their future Alpha.

"Alpha should have come instead of Vivaan. I know Vivaan is awesome but he is a kid himself. How is he going to solve this matter?" One of the parents raised his concern.

Others murmured in agreement.

"Let's give him a chance to tackle this problem. We all know that he is smart and even if he is unable to help us, the case would be just taken over by Alpha. So we don't have to worry too much." Another parent assured and squeezed her child's hand to give him strength.

All the gossips stilled as Vivaan entered the house. Everyone bowed their heads in respect.

"Seriously, how many times should I tell you to not do it?" Vivaan groaned.

"No one is going to stop so you should just give up now." A middle aged man laughed.

"Did you put that girl into dungeons?" Mia asked.

Vivaan shook his head in negative.

"Why not? She threatened our whole species. No one is safe if she is going to roam freely," one of the parents asked in an incredulous tone.

Everyone was getting hyper. As they all spoke at a same time, it was difficult to understand what was being said.

"Calm down. Yes, she has not been put in dungeons but she is taken under custody for questioning. Everyone is safe," Vivaan shouted, so that he could be heard over all these noise.

"Don't tell me that she is not going to face the repercussions just because she is Alpha's niece," a tall teenager muttered in disbelief.

"She will be punished if she is at fault but the case isn't that simple." Vivaan drawled out.

"What do you mean?" Group leader's mother questioned.

"Why did she threaten you?" Vivaan asked, looking at the teenagers with hard eyes.

Teenagers bowed their heads, unable to reply.

"What's going on?" Parents murmured among each other.

"As per Hritika, threatening them was self defence to protect herself and Alina. Did you or did you not bully Alina?" Vivaan asked, slightly raising his tone.

"Kids, answer him," one of the parent ordered sternly.

"It was just harmless teasing," a petite girl answered.

"It must be harmless for you but not for Alina. Something really bad must be going on for a human to jump into a fight of werewolf teenagers, knowing fully well that she could get hurt," Vivaan said.

"It's not our fault that the human came in between." Mia shrugged.

"What about Alina then? Why did you bully her?" Vivaan questioned with folded hands.

Vivaan had already gestured for the parents to keep quiet for the time being so he could understand what was going on in their minds.

"I am still waiting for the answer." Vivaan uttered, mainting his stern tone.

"She is weak. We all are of the same age but her wolf is the size of a 4 year old pup," the tall group leader answered as his group had went silent in fear.

"Even my wolf is bigger than yours. Does that mean, I should bully you?" Vivaan asked sarcastically.

"You have the Alpha's blood and hence your wolf is larger and stronger than ours. She is just weak." Mia counter-backed arrogantly.

"She is much more stronger than all of us combined," Vivaan said, confusing all the teenagers.

They all looked at each other in confusion before glancing at their parents who had their heads bowed in shame.

"How is she stronger than us?" Another guy from the group asked curiously.

"Do you know the reason behind her being a runt?" Vivaan inquired, looking at all of them one by one.

Upon receiving a negative response, he let out a sad smile.

"Her mother was kidnapped when she was pregnant. The kidnappers had shoved so much silver down her throat that she would have died within a few minutes. That time, Alina who wasn't even born saved her mother by taking in most of the silver. She saved her mother while still being inside her womb. Due to the excessive consumption of silver, Alina's wolf was not able to develop properly. Forget yourselves, even I am not strong enough to do what Alina did."

Eyes of teenagers were widened in shock as shame took over them.

"Forget about this fact. Even if Alina was plain weak, what right did you have to hurt her?" Vivaan questioned and as expected he received no answer.

"Our pack is famous for two things. One is our ability to go along the technology and what is the other thing?" Vivaan probed.

"We protect the weaker wolves" the kids mumbled in a low voice.

"What did you say? I couldn't hear you," Vivaan asked with a smirk, cupping his ears for a show.

"WE PROTECT THE WEAK," they yelled, ashamed of themselves

"I hope you never forget this. Being stronger means that we have the responsibility to take care of the ones whose strength is lower than us and not to take advantage of their weakness," Vivaan said with a smile, knowing that he succeeded in making them understand.

"We are really sorry that our kids did this. We will make sure that anything like this doesn't happen ever again." One of the parents apologized.

Seeing her, other parents too joined and apologized.

All the kids looked down in shame, seeing their parents apologizing for their mistakes.

"We are very sorry. We are ready to take on any punishment. Please forgive us."

"I am not the one you should be apologizing to," Vivaan said.

"We will apologize to Alina and will take any punishment she renders." Mia declared on behalf of the whole group.

Flashback over

"I don't know about Alpha, but I am really proud of you." Yara praised, making Vivaan let out a full blown smile.
