31- Alpha's Command- II
Although living in a pack was troublesome, Nihal and Hritika were relieved that Aberrant pack wasn't a traditional pack.
Right now, Hritika and Nihal handled all their work through mobile and laptop. Though it was far more difficult than being present in their office, something was better than nothing. They couldn't imagine living in a traditional pack with no access to the technology.
Hritika and Nihal stayed cooped up in their room for the whole day, only leaving their sanctuary for food. Pack members more or less ignored them and they liked it that way. Nihal and Hritika were aware that no one liked them here and were only cordial because of the fear that one day Nihal might be their leader. Whatever their reason was, both the cousins were glad to be in peace.
Nihal and Hritika were working on a presentation when a knock interrupted them.
With a sigh, Hritika stood up to open the door.
"Alpha has called both of you in his office," a petite but fierce looking girl informed.
"Where would be his office?" Hritika inquired, one of hand still on the door knob while other rested lazily on her waist.
"Fourth floor," the girl answered making Hritika groan.
Turning her face towards Nihal, Hritika commented, "Let's go, we are hiking."
Nihal chuckled knowing Hritika's hate for climbing stairs.
Originally they were assigned a room on fifth floor as they were Alpha's family. Unwanted- Yes, but a family nonetheless. Upon finding out that there were no elevators in the pack house, Hritika refused to move on that floor.
Her exact words - "Who the hell would climb and descend down all these stairs for food? Our stomach would get empty by the time we manage to reach our room." Once Hritika had made her mind, no one could change that. Eventually everyone agreed to give them a room on the first floor.
"Stop." Hritika huffed panting, her hands on her bended knees.
"Come on, just one floor and we would be there. Don't give up." Nihal encouraged from above. He was walking ahead of her and had stopped upon hearing her.
Her cousin was known for running her brain and not her body. Stifling his laugh, he went back to where she was standing. He pushed her forward, all the while supporting her body.
Huffing and puffing, they finally reached Alpha's office. Hritika wiped off the sweat from her forehead and straightened her posture before knocking.
"Ah! They finally decided to grace us with their presence." Gamma taunted.
"Well, if you wanted us to come on time then you should have made this office on the ground floor." Hritika deadpanned.
"Enough." Alpha Aarjav stopped the banter in a stern voice.
Nihal looked around the room, trying to figure out the reason why they all had gathered here. Luna, Beta, Gamma, Vivaan and Yara were also present in the room.
Everyone else looked annoyed except Yara who seemed ill. Wondering what might be the reason behind this meeting, he stared at his father to start talking.
"Your luggage has arrived in the town," Alpha Aarjav spoke.
"That's great. When will we receive them?" Hritika asked with a clap of her hands.
It had been a week and they had been using the same clothes again and again as they had only packed for a one/two day trip.
"Half of your luggage is filled with silver," Beta stated, glaring at Nihal and Hritika.
He was waiting for them to squirm under his hard gaze.
"So?" Hritika questioned with folded hands, looking unaffected.
"How can you commit such a crime knowing that silver is harmful to us?" Gamma spatted, his words filled with fury.
Gamma's hands already itched to throttle these humans and their acts weren't helping his case.
"We need something to defend us," Nihal answered calmly.
"Do you understand the severity of this action? Silver is harmful to our kind," Luna bellowed.
"Just like your mere existence is harmful to us," Hritika retorted with a roll of her eyes.
"Just like I said before, it is just for our self defense. We won't use it unless we are attacked," Nihal said calmly yet firmly.
Alpha Aarjav sighed. Everyone was right in their own place but something had to be done.
"I understand your point Nihal but silver can be really harmful. It might get consumed or touched by unsuspecting pack members. I assure you that no one will harm you. If you want a guarantee then I can also use my Alpha command." Alpha Aarjav tried to figure a middle way out.
"You might be able to command your pack but you won't be able to command the person whose hate for us might be greater than anybody," Nihal commented.
Alpha Aarjav's forehead furrowed in thought.
Nihal rolled his eyes at his father's incapability to understand. Not wanting to waste time, he spelled it out for Alpha Aarjav. "I am talking about your mate."
Everyone let out the breath they were holding upon hearing Luna's name. Just like Alpha Aarjav they were confused and worried about who was Nihal talking about.
"I hate this situation we are in but I don't hate you. Being born wasn't your decision nor was coming here to live with us. I don't have anything to guarantee but I promise you that I won't hurt anyone of you," Luna assured.
Nihal and Hritika looked at each other with a frown. They knew that even if they didn't believe Luna's words, there was no way they would be allowed to have silver.
"Stupid employees, can't even do a single thing properly. I told them to hide it properly within the luggage. I am so going to fire them," Hritika mumbled to herself in anger, forgetting that these werewolves could hear her faintest of whispers.
"Alpha, they are lying. Silver was brought to harm us and not as self defense. They wouldn't have hidden it if their intentions were pure. As they wanted to hurt us, it's only right that they are punished," Gamma roared, half-shifting.
Before anyone could blink, he was in front of Hritika's face. His claw was near her eyes when he had to force stop.
He turned towards Alpha Aarjav, thinking he was the one who commanded him to stop but his Alpha was already looking at someone with wide eyes.
Not only Alpha but everyone else was staring at the human heir. Everyone was shocked to find out that the Human was capable of using Alpha's Command again.
