Vivaan was not able to comprehend what had happened. Why was Nihal unable to command him now? Nihal was surely capable of giving out a command, seeing Vivaan had froze that day in the hotel room.

Vivaan came out of his thoughts when Midnight Pack's Alpha addressed him.

"Best of Luck Vivaan. You still have the chance. If Nihal is not able to command you after this few months of practice, then this position will be yours."

Vivaan responded to his words of assurance with a small smile. Other Alphas were living in a false hope. Vivaan knew that he had no chance of winning.

"Well now that the situation with future Alpha is put on hold, let's move on to Alpha Aarjav," Peaceful Pack's Alpha stated.

"Alpha Aarjav, this meeting was held to discuss the punishment for the crimes- exposure of our kind to humans and putting a risk to the human's life. And you have proved that you had no hand in both the crimes. So you won't be getting any punishment from the council.

"However, I would recommend you to find your father, the previous Alpha, Jaipal, so that he could be punished for his heinous crimes. I am sure other packs would help you to track him. While you are at it, also try finding the rogues that were hired by your father.

"That being said, you have hurt your family deeply with your actions. Yes, I understand that you were blackmailed but that doesn't take away your mistakes. As it is your personal matter, Luna Mahira and Vivaan will be the ones who will set out your punishment. Which should be accepted by you without any negotiations. Along with them, Nihal and Hritika are also allowed to give you a punishment. Their punishment should also be accepted by you without any negotiations as long as the punishment does not break our werewolf laws."

Peaceful pack's Alpha announced his verdict and then looked over to other Alphas to see if they all agreed.

The meeting ended after everyone nodded in agreement and the next date was fixed. The next council was going to be held in four months to test Nihal's ability to give out an Alpha command.

One by one everyone started leaving the cabin. Moonshine Pack's Alpha stopped in his way and moved towards Vivaan, who was standing beside Luna Mahira.

"Let's hope that Nihal doesn't have that ability or else you would be in great trouble. Knowing the equation between you two, I don't think he would even allow you to be his Beta."

Showing his fake concern for Vivaan's well being, Moonshine pack's Alpha left after patting Vivaan's shoulder.

Luna Mahira rolled her eyes, looking at the back of Moonshine pack's Alpha. She was well aware that Moonshine pack's Alpha was having fun with all this drama.

Vivaan stole a glance at Nihal who stood at a corner, talking with his cousin.

"Why was he unable to command me today?"

Luna Mahira answered his question, knowing fully well that Vivaan wasn't asking her and was just thinking out loud.

"I am not exactly sure but I have an inkling on what must have happened. Last time Hritika was in danger. Nihal must have commanded you out of pure instincts, even if he wasn't aware of his ability. Unlike that day, they weren't in immediate danger today. That must be the reason behind his incapability today."

Vivaan hummed, looking at his mom with hopelessness.

"What will I do now? I have never imagined doing anything other than serving my pack. What if he takes out his anger of Alpha's mistakes on pack members? I won't be able to just sit there. Pack members have high hopes on me, how am I going to face them after losing? Why am I worrying about facing them? There's a chance that Nihal would throw me out of the pack once he becomes an Alpha."

Vivaan broke down in his mother's arms who tried her best to comfort him, while hiding her own pain.
