22-Poison
Alpha of the Peaceful pack addressed everybody and started off his announcement.
"We all have gathered here so that we can listen to Alpha Aarjav's side of the story for his grave sin and decide on a proper punishment. And later we need to discuss the future of the Aberrant pack.
"I would like to request that all Alphas should maintain their calm as today we have two humans present with us. If any of you absolutely cannot hold it then please leave the cabin and come back once you have calmed down."
Few Alphas rolled their eyes at his speech. His peaceful nature didn't go well with them. Werewolves were usually hardheaded and these Alphas were against everything that was different from their normal.
"Alpha Aarjav, what do you have to say about exposing our kind to humans?" Alpha of the peaceful pack asked.
"They didn't know anything about our kind until our two dear Alphas decided to shift and pounce upon them," Alpha Aarjav cooly answered, pointing towards Alpha of Lunar and Midnight pack.
Vivaan coughed a little, knowing that Alpha had lied. He was the one who had first shifted in front of the humans.
"So, I don't think that this crime falls upon me. We can surely discuss the punishment for both the Alphas after this meeting for exposing our kind to humans," Alpha Aarjav continued with an amused face.
Alpha of Midpack stood up with a roar, frightening the hell out of Nihal and Hritika while Alpha of Lunar pack was shocked to see his friend pointing fingers at him.
"Calm down," Alpha of the Peaceful pack commanded.
Though the Alpha's command didn't work on other Alphas, they usually listened out of respect.
"Please don't worry. They all are short tempered but no one will harm you," Alpha of the Peaceful pack tried to assure Nihal and Hritika.
His assurance was lost as they had already seen him pounce on them before.
"Let's not point fingers at other Alphas. We all were under the impression that these humans were fraudsters, who stole Alpha's scent and thus making them already aware of our kind," the only female Alpha spoke.
Though it hurt the egos of many Alphas, they agreed with the female Alpha on this point.
Alpha Aarjav was confident that this would happen and that was the only reason he had put other Alphas under the bus.
"Alpha Aarjav, do you have any proof that your wife wasn't aware of our being?" Alpha of Sunrise pack asked.
Everyone's head turned towards Luna Mahira as soon as the term 'wife' was uttered. But to everyone's surprise, Luna Mahira sat firmly with no sign of breaking down.
"Well my wife isn't here to back my words but if she had known then eventually the news would have reached my son. So you can confirm with Nihal if he knew about the existence of werewolves," Alpha Aarjav replied.
He had come prepared. Though he was at fault, the only people who had the right to punish him were Nihal, Mahira and Vivaan, not these Alphas.
"Nihal?" Peaceful Pack's Alpha redirected the question to him.
Nihal's hands had gone clammy as everyone's attention turned to him. He gulped down his nervousness as Hritika squeezed his hand to provide him support.
"We weren't aware until they pounced on us," Nihal backed his father's lie.
He still wasn't over the betrayal of his father yet couldn't bring himself to see him get punished. It would have been different if it were human punishment but he wasn't aware of the barbaric ways these wolves would have and had no intentions of finding out.
"If we conclude that his wife didn't know about our kind, then doesn't it mean that Alpha Aarjav put a human's life in danger?" Alpha of Moonshine pack queried.
"With this, another question comes up. How is your son human? I understand that you mated with a human but still...you are an Alpha. There's no way a human should have been born. We could understand if a weak werewolf was born instead of an Alpha wolf but a full human? How is that possible?" Alpha of Snow pack questioned with curiosity.
"Alpha Aarjav?" Alpha of the peaceful pack gestured to Alpha Aarjav to answer the questions.
Alpha Aarjav nodded and answered those questions, startling the hell out of everybody.
"I loved my wife. There was no way I was going to put her in harm's way. You are right, Alpha. Even if I mated with a human, the chance of my child coming out as a full human was zero.
"I did the only thing I could do to protect my wife's life and also keep her ignorant of our kind, which would have been impossible if our child had a dominant wolf gene.
"I poisoned myself with silver. The amount that was enough for my wolf to lose all his strength and go into a temporary coma but not too much that would kill him."
Nihal and Hritika were confused by everyone's flabbergasted expression. Plus they couldn't understand why silver and poison were used together. How the hell was silver poisonous?
Well, it wasn't poisonous for humans but for werewolves it was worse than a bullet. Small amount of silver burned them but if used in a quantity, it was enough to take their lives.
No one present in the cabin was able to understand Alpha Aarjav's mind. They too loved their partners but willingly consuming poison was not something they could digest.
