The only female Alpha till date turned her attention towards the humans huddled close to each other.

Nihal and Hritika had moved towards  the corner, hugging each other tightly. Their presence had caused all this commotion yet they were the only silent spectators here.

As the Female Alpha moved towards them, they both tried to crawl back into the wall though there wasn't any space left.

Moving her hands up in surrender position, she showed that she wasn't a threat. Keeping a respectable distance, she sat down on the floor.

"I am sure from all this commotion, you must have understood that we are not humans. We are werewolves. A different species than yours. As you can see we can switch from being a human to a wolf. Your Father is an Alpha of his pack. Umm...like a leader of a tribe," she explained.

Even though she had a pleasant smile, both Nihal and Hritika trembled. They had guessed that these people were something else but the confirmation doubled their fear.

By now, the words of the female Alpha had caught everyone's attention. The screams and shouts upon finding out about Alpha Aarjav's doings stopped abruptly as they noticed the Alpha of Northern pack speaking to the humans.

"What are you doing? How can you expose our kind?" Alpha of Midnight pack was enraged.

"Like you didn't already expose our kind by shifting into a wolf in front of them," female Alpha rolled her eyes. Stupid, egoistic male wolves. That's what they were in the mind of Female Alpha.

"I understand your point Alpha but let's not get into too many details. They will be on their way so there's no need for them to know about our kind," Vivaan spoke to female Alpha in a respectful manner.

This was something everyone loved about Vivaan. Even if didn't agree with the other party, he would still be polite and respectful.

Sighing, Alpha of the Northern pack stood up to face Vivaan.

"He won't be on his way. He is Alpha's first son and according to the rules, he is also his heir. If you look closely, his birthmark is darker than yours, making him the future Alpha," She explained in a soft tone knowing that this was going to turn Vivaan's life upside down.

"What?!"  As expected, Vivaan lost his cool.

"Wait a minute," Luna Mahira interrupted, coming forward.

"Though a first born, he is a human. Plus he didn't even know about our existence until now. How can he be a future ruler?" Luna asked.

"Rules state that the first born would be an Alpha. There's no such rule about them being werewolves," the Female Alpha answered.

"Looks like our ancestors didn't think that any Alpha would go around and have a one night stand with a human," Alpha of Moonshine pack chortled.

"SHE WAS HIS WIFE," Nihal yelled.

He stood up and moved towards those wolves. All his fear vanished at the expense of his anger.

"She wasn't a one night stand. She was legally married to him," Nihal spoke, pointing his finger towards Alpha Aarjav.

Alpha of the Moonshine pack backed away muttering a low sorry.

"Let's not discuss all this here. Anyways, a council will be held for Alpha Aarjav's punishment. Every Alpha would be present on that day. So after his punishment is declared, let's decide who will be the future Alpha," Alpha of Peaceful pack advised.

Known for his intellect, no other Alpha crossed his decision.

"What punishment?" Hritika questioned.

"Humans are considered weak and innocent in our world. Taking advantage of them is a huge sin. Alpha Aarjav not only risked an exposure to our kind but also put a human's life in danger. It was luck that his son turned out to be a human. If his werewolf gene would have been dominant then the mother would have died. No human is capable of birthing a werewolf. 

"Alpha Aarjav would be getting a severe punishment and the only chance of reducing his statement would be if your cousin's mother comes and informs that Alpha Aarjav didn't put her life on stake and she birthed him after being aware of all the risks," Luna Mahira explained with a heavy heart.

Hearing all this, Hritika silently took a hold of Nihal's hand, providing him as much comfort as she could.

"Why would other Alpha's decide on who will be the ruler? It's the matter of our pack, let us decide," Vivaan spoke up, while sneering at Nihal.

Alpha of Peaceful pack answered this time. "An Alpha takes all the decisions for the pack but any decision regarding Alpha is decided by council. This rule was made when many Alphas had started abusing their powers. So, only the council will have the right to decide who will become the next Alpha of Aberrant Pack."

"So you are saying that Alpha's illegitimate son can become the next Alpha?" Vivaan sneered.

"Illegitimate? Do you even know the meaning?" Nihal hissed.

Vivaan scowled at the human's audacity.

"Any child that isn't birthed by your mate is illegitimate in our world," Vivaan answered through gritted teeth.

"Really? Because in my world- first marriage is considered to be legal and any child born through that marriage is legal. Your father was married to my mother legally and they had me before he met your mother. So, in my world you are an illegitimate child," Nihal retorted, fiercely meeting Vivaan's gaze.

"Youuu," Vivaan raised his hand but was stopped by Luna Mahira.

"We do not hurt anyone weaker than us unless they have committed a crime," Luna chided.

While Luna scolded Vivaan, Hritika tried to calm Nihal down.

"But he…." Nihal tried to protest but stopped as Hritika snapped, finally losing her cool.

"Shut up, idiot. You both are legitimate children in your own worlds and illegitimate in each other's. There's no point in fighting. There's no right and wrong here. However, problematic this situation is, get this fact straight- You both are brothers."

"HALF BROTHERS," both Vivaan and Nihal yelled at the same moment.
